Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

After a quick turnaround, my Persei is back in action. Using the standard Persei config, it is a great on demand way to hit wax (a tad harsh but excellent stealth). My wax is very green (all I can get so far). Should I keep that shit out of my SR-71?

You don't have to get it to glow to burn off the residue. If you do it this way you can torch em for a bit, not sure but they'll last.

Yeah the man knows what he's talking about. You just need to heat it enough to get the waxy crap to run off.
I know this may be somewhat controversial so feel free to ignore -
I clean my coil once every three or four weeks by taking the shield off of the herc, unscrewing the two sections and removing the rod. Then I hold the upper section upside down and use a torch lighter to very very gently warm it up - no glowing or anything close, just getting the wax warm enough to run.
The coil is not as clear as after a torching but it is more than clean enough for me.

It is a very good vaporizer. i just did a few pulls yup it works.

In fact im getting nice clouds on red, start off fast pull and slowing down to allow the heater to catch up, its a cloud producer to my standards.

I cleaned my Herc and switched to a new coil, and i'm back to the coil sliding up issue.
i'm not really happy with the crush the coil method of effecting coil slide.

i'm going to try altering the upper chamber of the herc to allow a snap ring or spring clip to hold the coil down.

Gonna need to stack stacking the bills for this one...Woot Woot!

Will the Imag products be treated like your other W9tech products with respect to warranty and future trade in options?

I'm assuming a stainless snap ring? Not mystery metal. How will you make a groove to accept the ring. Actually, an external snap-ring of the right size will do the trick without a groove. The inside diameter is 10.42mm.

What about a small sheet of thin steel formed into a ring that sits on to of the coil, keeping it locked into place when you put the top cap on.

I did a very similar thing with my Herc. When the flavor degraded after 6 grams of wax went through it I took the upper section with the heating rod and coil still in it and heated it upside down with a vari-temp heat gun until all the accumulated wax residue dripped out. That was enough to restore the flavor back to near new and I managed to get another 6 grams through the Herc until the flavor degraded again. Just like changing the oil in your car engine!

After the 12 grams of wax I was tempted to try this again but I did a full cleaning so that I could switch from my old ss coil to a new Ti coil. Which brings me to my next comment...

I didn't like the the idea of flattening my coil more either so I squeezed it on the coil sides with a pair of pliers to make it an oval shape. This has worked well for me so far. The oval coil grips the sides now at 2 points and also touches the rod in the center on 2 sides. My coil hasn't moved after 2 grams of wax has gone through, the coil still retains all it's volume and there is still plenty of space for air flow.

I do think this is something just aching for a design tweak tho.

I think it would be a shame to introduce another extra piece if it's not totally necessary. Like the threaded top cap on the -74, which just wasn't needed. If the Ti coils were made a tiny bit larger diameter, everything would be perfect, right? That's the only tweak I see needed. @Hedonismbot , I really like your idea about ovalizing the coil instead of squishing them. Do you feel you're losing holding capacity- the coils retain less mass when they're so squished? I don't have any unused coils left but maybe I'll order up a few more and try just pinching them sideways, no top-down squish.

I read some comments that some people have had more leakage issues with the -74X than the -74. I have no idea why this could be the case, but I have either been bad at cool downs, or my friends have, and I've also been using 2 coils a lot recently which isn't that awesome on the X. So I'm going back to the -74 chambers & rod placement with the X top cap, for science's sake.

The experiments continue...

Loving my herc. Without a portable herb vape and the herc has done quite well holding me over. No issues yet. Just loaded it up good. Hoping to see TUSK in theaters tonight, the herc will go quite well with that.
That's great! Glad to see that you are finally happy with all the BS behind!

Great Scott!
Yes. I knew it must be worth it with so many recommendations. Now that it works I like the new charger etc. Its serving my load once for the day quite nicely.

I know the answer is super variable, but how long is it taking you guys to vape say .5 in the herc? Anyone get like a week + out of that?
