The Vapo and the SSV are similar in that they both deliver rich vapor. The narrow bowls on the Vapo cut down on the amount of air you get with your hits, and the SSV has a rather small outlet opening on the heater cover, also restricting the amount of air mixed with the vapor. A vape like the Extreme OTOH, with a more wide open vapor path, gives you more air with your hits.
Cool, hadn't thought of it like that. Makes sense.

The Extreme seems to have a much larger ceramic element than the SSV and, I would imagine, more herb exposed to its hot air path. Even if it introduced more air it's still hot air hitting (more) herb. Because of this, you'd think that it would produce more vapor even if it is a little diluted. I imagine it's designed like that because of the balloon functionality-- I don't think the SSV would work well with a balloon because of the smaller area of herb being heated; you have to stir between each whip hit.

marcuss, do you have any thoughts on your experience with the Vapolution vs Extreme for thickness of vapor via whip?

I think about this stuff too much.

I haven't used the Extreme but I did own the V-Tower (sold it to a friend when I got the SSV), and since the parts that determine the air flow in whip mode are the same, I'd imagine it perfoms just the same in whip mode. The SSV certainly has a more narrowly focused air flow into the bowl, so the amount of herb in the bowl can be factor. I'd say the Extreme would be more consistent in its hits, and with a good amount of herb loaded, could definitely provide some big ones. But the SSV, with a decent amount loaded and a nice easy draw, will always provide a higher vapor to air ratio. It's like the difference between a bong and a hand pipe-you'll get more air with the bong every time. Doesn't mean you won't get more smoke with the bong too. Since the Extreme uses the same platform as the V-Tower, I don't know if it was designed with future bag use in mind, but the fact that, unlike the SSV, it CAN be used efficiently with bags, means it has to be a compromise with direct draw as far as vapor to air mix. Just like if you want to improve the ride quality of a small sports car, you have to compromise the handling. Doesn't mean it's less satisfactory for every person, since preferences differ.

The Vapolution has even more of a restricted air flow than the SSV, so it also has a high vapor to air ratio. The small bowl means a small load though, so that probably helps to even it out somewhat. Smooth hits, but not big ones, at least not compared to the SSV. Maybe the bong addition gives the Vapo a mod that some users would be interested in.

Restricting air flow to get rich vapor hits is not the complete answer though. The herbalAire proves that. Eighteen tiny holes for incoming air, and a narrow outlet diameter only give me effective, but thin hits. I only use it with direct draw when I want a small hit or two in a hurry. Direct draw is where the Extreme beats out the herbalAire. I'm perfectly satisfied with mine, since I have other options for direct draw, but if you want dual mode and don't already have a whip vape, the Extreme can't be beat.

The best tasty hits comes out from my Vapolution with a.i.w bowl...on the other side The extreme give me some big and consistent punch when i let pre heat the bowl properly.....These are two different ways to enjoy the vapor and i play with them everyday!
I can't stay without my two buddies!!
I prefer vapo for a gourmet test and the extreme for a real punch in the face!
Yesss...Vapo in bong-mode kick your ass with just a bowl(0,1g)...so helpful for someone that is no lucky to have a big amount!!

Yes vapercussion!!
Go with the purest taste and you'll enjoy for sure!!
If you like bongin' try a simple bong system and you'll see a different high more stone-like....if you like!

P.S Vapo is built solid as a rock.....mine has felt already three times from my desk and it's still working....Don't do that with the extreme!!!my first time was a hell!!

enjoy the clouds!!;)

You rock marcuss! one question- how easy is it to "save" the spent herb from the vapolution? Someone said you just "blow it out" but do you lose it when you do that? I want to save it and revape when I'm dry (this is where the extreme does great) Also how do clean the AIW bowl? Does it come with a special tool for that? thanks!

Lastly, this whole concept of grinding and more "surface area exposed" is not followed by the Vapolution. How come this vape gets away with that? If you tried a small bud with any other vape, you'd get a bad result and be wasting your herb. How did this vape bypass all that?

ok...You can save your herb pellet for some butter because also if you don't grind the herb it looks and smell spent....i never try to revape a spent pellet from the vapo so i don't know but maybe you can grind it and put it in the extreme but i think taste is crap.

To clean all the glass gears check my vap-oil thread and you'll end with some cloudy stuff to revape!!!

Because the small bowl i think the hot airflow pass through the pellet and actually squeeze all the oils from the plant also if you don't grind it!

I have had one of these for almost a month now.... I love its drop-on-the-floor-ability and its pretty simple, nothing to clean, all glass.

I am going to consign a local glass guy to craft me some perculation, after just placing my (optional) glass mouthpiece to some bong holes (works really simply and well with glass or rubber fittings, no problem at all with leaking anything) and see how it could be the last step in establishing a cleaner, safer vapor method.

I'm a little bummed that you can't really grind up the herb, but if you plug the ends with some nug you can fill the middle with kief, hash, shake... even tobacco.. for more surface area i guess but thats just me experimenting.

I grind my herb and it works just as well. It all comes down to personal preference.

I also recommend the all glass stem (w/ carb) over the whips for a better taste and easier inhalation.

I've had my Vapolution for about 3 years now.:)

not sure if wer'e on the same thing here, but the resin build up on the glass wear set's like concrete, but soften's and run's easy as when heated @ 100f in the oven for a bit

Been digging around on here, and this thread is the only place I have found any info on the Vapolution. Seems ideal because it's portable, but it doesn't seem as good of quality as the DBV for instance.. does anyone have an opinion they could share about this? I'm looking at it on vapemart.com and they have it for $150 with the allinwonder bowl shipped. Seems like a fairly good price, but is it worth the $30 dollars more for the DBV (I say $30 more because I would get the black one). Sorry if this has been answered somewhere else :/

aloa clingwrap...the Vapolution is a quality vape because it is all glass without anything that can affect the taste but its bowl (AIW) is very small so you must re load few times to achieve the same high of the DBV for instance.
I actually prefer the Vapolution taste for i do love the cleaness of the glass but it is about a year that my Vapolution is in the garage because i've got different vapes that fits better to me.
It is up on your habits...if you like a stone buzz go with the Da buddha or similar....if you prefer a dosable quality vape with smaller but tasty hits go with the Vapo!
P.S. take a look at the monster thread about the Purple Days, this little unit perfoms very well and it is a Vapolution competitor ;)

Hope this can help you!

I've used the Vapo a lot, as well as the DBV and PD. Although the Vapo and DBV are in the same price range, the Vapo is more similar to the PD as far as 12V operation (portability) and hit/bowl size.

As marcuss says, if an all glass vapor path is to your liking, the Vapo is a good one. It has portability going for it too. I prefer the PD, and my Vapo has been collecting dust for a year, but to each his own, and for portable use, the Vapo does have a much quicker startup time. On the down side, it's harder to load (really needs pieces instead of ground herb) than the PD and easy to overcook if you're not careful. I've also busted a couple of those AIW bowls (although I do highly recommend that bowl). The Vapo not only has glass bowls, but a glass heating chamber as well, so it needs careful handling.

Unlike the other two mentioned, the DBV needs a power converter for the car, and is all-around less portable. It's also a bigger hitter than the other two. Because of the full size bowl/whip, it encourages big hits and less efficiency vs. the other two.

IMO, the things to consider when deciding between the Vapo and DBV are all glass, vs. glass and tubing, hit size, ease of herb loading, and portability.

And now, a negative opinion....

Vapolution #1 -- Temp control knob grinds up insulation material (mica) and eventually caused the knob to stick at the highest temp. Sent it back at my expense for a replacement.

Vapolution #2 -- Same temp knob problem, but not AS bad (it still turns but its rough). I ended up dropping this unit and the top center part cracked but didn't break any of the functional parts. I cracked open the bottom and dumped out the mica insulation. "Cheap ass piece of shit!" or a similar phrase escaped my lips when I saw the internal components. Literally, a laboratory test tube wrapped with the flimsy heat wire. Everything was fully exposed to the loose mica chunk insulation!!! This unit looks like a prototype on the inside!!!!!! :o I was pissed off that I had spent $150 on something I could have rigged up myself. Yes, the outside looks alright, but even that looks cheap when you really look closely. That being said, it does still function, sort of. I refilled it with sand, because I had lost some of the mica, duct taped a circle of cardboard on the bottom and then superglued the top center section back in place. All sealed up again! It worked as well as usual for a few months but now the power light has died and I have to turn it WAY up to get the same heat level as before it seems. Weird.

Overall, I do not recommend the Vapolution. There are higher quality products available. It also seems to take forever to achieve the desired effect. I will end up puffing on a bowl for 5 or even 10 minutes because I keep blowing out vapor that tastes like crap after the first couple hits anyway. I don't want to waste anything, but I don't want to sit there forever just to get a little buzz. I want something quicker, better quality, and with the ability to share with more than 1 or 2 people. I find that it will easily turn herb BLACK if you don't have everything perfect. Think about it, they say it's so customizable in your method, but really, it's a BUNCH of shit to get right to make it work. You need the temp set right, the bowl packed right, the washer holding the bowl at the right height, the correct draw speed. I can't easily reproduce my experience ever. :(

The all-in-wonder bowl seemed great, but really, the unit is not comfortable to hold up to your mouth like that. You need 2 hands to do it and it takes a long time to get everything out of a bowl so it becomes very annoying. Lately the whip hits have been so weak that I've been sticking the tube into my water pipe (filled with ice) and "filling" the chamber of the water pipe with vapor before clearing it. If your vapolution works, I'd recommend this method as "near satisfactory"

I will post pics of my dissected Vapolution here when I receive my SSV. I'm still wrestling with it, hoping I won't have to go back to smoking before my SSV gets here.

ehy Ben....looks like you never open a vaporizer before...........Please DO NOT open your SSV when you will get it to avoid a BIG delusion spending 250 bucks in a piece of alu with inside a 0.50 cents dimmer and a ceramic heater that cost 2$ max......also don't do this with vapes like Extreme or those box ...all those guts are poor looking for us working 12 hours a day to earn money.

Obviously you have been unlucky with yours Vapolution and you won't raccomend it but i've got one that never gave me all those bad feelings......not to defend nobody but max and me are trying to stick to general impressions!
