I think earlier I got one of the last Solos out of the box deals. Had difficulty and needed to call Puffitup. The order didn't go through. I was worried that they had already sold out. Finally got a confirmation email. I had to do an online chat. They have such great service with the online chat and being able to call and talk to someone. Evidentially PayPal was having problems.

Checked the Puffitup site and saw the Solo wasn't up anymore. Didn't really need another Solo, but the deal was too good to pass up.

Just pulled the trigger on this portable vaporizer. I actually didn't want this because of its lack of discreetness, but had no choices as we sold our house, and won't be able to use my volcano at the new places. Anyways I've read only good things about the way it works. I'm thinking of getting a wooden stem because I tend to break things quick. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

You won't be sorry buying a Solo. Maybe you've never tried one? Its not like the Volcano, but one of the sturdier, well built portables out there. It gives very good vapor flavor and that's always a good thing.

Glad you found the GSC ataxian. You'll be feeling much better.

I have a few wooden stems from Eds TnT. The 3 inch black wood is my fav for my Solo.

Did you grind the hash up? I have one of those metal card grinders with the cheese grates on it that works well for drier hashes, not so much the gooier bubbles... but the hash it can grind it does so well. I find that with more surface area the hash vaporizes better. It can be a little tricky getting just hash bowls to work, I've managed to do it with a flat dome screen and a GonG to keep it upright. Like @CarolKing said I find it works better with a little bit of flower in the mix as well, but you can get it going by itself. I usually start higher for dry hashes, around 4, and 3 for quality bubble hashes. Don't expect to finish the load in one go either if you load a lot...

I got to use it again for a third time today. Very simple and neat! I need to use the battery more and the PA less so I can run more tests!

I am so basic!

Straight PHVES stems with a chillum tip dry level 4 girl scout cookies outdoor grown.
I have some hydroponic grown as well! I have found I was medicating with too many different strains!
GSC is very balanced for me! I can not eat cannabis or I freak out! The SOLO may not work for others!
I don't need 50 different types of vaporizers where some do!
Maybe I change my mind in a week?
The SOLO is so easy!
I set up a jhook and ash collector with a stock 18mm GonG and kept the water to the low side!
Flavor?
Medicated?
Blue Vapor!
The flavor profile of GSC in a SOLO!
The load of the GonG is a perfect dose in my case.
I know there are a lot of well made vaporizers!
For me I just need something that works!
Good medicine is my priority.
The SOLO is my medical device for extracting the compounds of cannabis.
Sure there are other good devices.
Find what works for you.
For now my medicine application is working.
Sometimes we become distracted?

Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL nothing else!

@CarolKing I want a 18mm WonG!
Is that what you have?

@ataxian , What's in the picture above is the 14mm black wood 3 inch WonG that I use with the Solo.

I use it mainly for a mouthpiece when out and about in the yard or away from home. I have used it with my Pinnacle Pro WT, but just a few times. I bought this before I had the D020 Bubbler.

It's good to have a wood back up WonG. I wish I would have bought the 18mm..........Maybe that will be my next purchase. I will have to ask @Ed's TnT if I can get another one with a turquoise or some kind of inlay. It's fun adding pieces to the accessory collection.

Thanks for for the reply. I'm also considering the 3 inch stem, any reason for getting the bigger one over the smaller one?

Just compatibility with other devices. If you have a water tool that you want to use with your solo, you'll need the WonG with the appropriate diameter. The D020 that some here use has a 18mm connector while the pinnacle water tool or f-bomb have 14mm connections. If you're just using the WonG as a durable stem, either diameter will do.

I never could make a 14mm fitted device work? Why can't they make a FBOMB with a 18mm conecttions?
The Bong Style Mounth Piece shoud be optional. I like to use a smaller mouth piece. 18mm top and bottom? My ASH COLLECTOR 18mm fittings hook up to a JHOOK seem to work better and are less money?

However people like them!

So I've been looking at a portable vape for a month since I got desktop. Yesterday I ran across the deal at puffitup. Since I had to go to work I thought I'll grab it after work. WTF was i thinking ??? $55 all gone now. I don't think I'll ever come across a deal like that again. :(

I just received a brand new backup solo from PIU.

Now do i just store it in my closet as is?

Or should i charge it for the normal full charge with 4 hour top up?

Congrats! Great call, IMO, with a good one stashed in standby you're sure to not have issues with the prime unit.

I suggest you check the charge, if it's mid range (say 3 to 5?) I'd store it as is (the advice is to store at about 60% charge. If not, I'd charge all the way ('Overnight') then drain it down to mid range for storage. As I understand it, it's the first time you do serious discharge on the pack that determines the starting point.

Stored mid range it should have full capacity many years out.

Just shipped my first replacement(M1T) solo in for warranty, started to randomly turn off and had that rapid blue led flashing issue. As per the forums a couple light smacks got it working again but after a couple days it started to do it again. I might look into getting another vapo, any suggestions for a new vape? I use it almost everyday so i would like something reliable and the solo has not been that for me, i initially bought it in Feb/2014 and this would be the second time i send one back.

Pax? Ascent?

Yup, that's what I'd do. It should store fine 'mid range', just remember to do the 'overcharge' thing when you take it out of mothballs and you're Jake.

I have the Solo and the Ascent. There's nothing wrong with the Ascent, but IMO the Solo is the sturdier of the two. I think you've just had bad luck. The Pax I tried and thought the vapor was a bit harsh IMO. The Indica is a nice little unit too. It is fairly new to the marketplace and hasn't had the test of time.

The Solo has had the test of time.
I just bought my 3rd Solo because it is such a fantastic vaporizer. It was too good of a deal to pass up, $55 out of the box. They are already sold out. There's a reason the Solo thread has 1200 pages.

There was a change in the 2014 Solo. Several of us had to send ours back due to either battery or heater problems. I bought a newer model in March and 6 weeks later had to send it back. With the change in the model I think there were some glitches. Not that I'm an engineer or know what I'm talking about. It just seemed odd there were so many sent back right after the revised model.

I agree, the solo is an amazing device just wish mine lasted longer! At the moment i am using my backup vape, the vapir no2.. This thing has been running strong for years!

you guys r bang on - no wonder 1200 pages, :tup: yup! I just bought m'second SOLO so's to have a back-up - :cool: and I'll happily buy another when necessary!
