My eyeballing of whatever crazy strained stuff makes me think that it's .05 g's of super stinky to mess me up so I guess people were right about my inability to accurately judge the trench.
The reasons for my tolerance are only smoking from early Friday night to Sunday afternoon, I have only really smoked super dank, my highs are limited by migraines that increase the higher I am (and thus prevent me from smoking an entire bowl and raising tolerance radically), medications that I believe heighten how THC effects, my willingness to pack a hit or two at a time, I only smoke out of a glass piece which is the most efficient form of smoking outside of vapes (theoretically a joint can be a bit better, but practically you lose bud in downtime, lose bud when you roll, lose thc in roach, don't smoke down to roach, etc)

@Desensitzerrr
I think you will be suprised when you receive your unit at how small it actually is. Pictures are deceiving of the LB and I myself was suprised at the size of the LB when I got it (smaller than I thought). So I have a feeling you will find that even a full trench consists of less material than you may have thought.

Congrats on your purchase and best of luck!

Cheers

Yo I edited my post for clarity
After tonights homework is done (Weed is such a good motivator) I have $150 to throw down
I am gonna go with PuffItUp's $100 shipped with Grinder. I don't think I need any fancypants chargers so I will likely use the one that comes with it. Where can I get a good coffee grinder online/IRL? Can I cheaply throw down for 2700mah batterys? How do those charge in the charger supplied with the MFLB?

Hi,

For people those people who have been asking to see one of these units in action, one of the better user contributed vids I have seen on the net is the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQo6-DqGE6A

That is about as close to a set of 'simplified user instructions' I have come across so far. Kudos to the poster who put this together and notified me about it!

hi there. i have two units. the second being a replacement unit.. i cant get anywhere near a hit like this guy anymore. my unit runs way colder and then by the time it is hot enough its near combustion. the herb turns black now instead of brown. i bought a new charger and batts and still it doesnt work..:(

I wonder is the unit only good in the short term? pity cause its very stealthy when working..

Just wondering but would a pepper grinder work good to grind up weed for the mflb?

By the way, I love my launch box.

Hi,

We tried that. It can work infrequently -- generally on material that is very dry and not too sticky (which is generally not a good sign for the material -- might not be worth the effort). Other than that, the grinder tends to jam. This has been determined to be true for nearly all known configurations of a mechanical grinder within this class. There is some slight possibility that some currently unknown pepper grinder might work -- we just have not seen one yet, and are not expecting to anytime soon.

Indeed, the Box is about Love, in the true classical sense of the Ideal. We are glad to have it known as such!

Because of many factors I have a low tolerance. From what I have seen of the MFLB my average dose will prolly be 1/10th of a trench of strained bud or chronic that I usually smoke of out a piece to get me high. I was wondering if someone could see if that low a level (a little less preferably, but it's all good) can be vaped efficiently or not in a MFLB

Hi,

The Box will vape whatever amount less than a full trench just fine. You could put 1/100 of a trench in if that is what you wanted -- and you would get at least 3/100ths vapor from it (and probably a lot more, compared to smoking). If you wanted to vaporize only/exactly one tiny speck -- a single grain -- of material, the Box is probably the very few vapes on the market (short of lab gear) that has any hope of doing this. The only disadvantage is that nearly the same amount of battery power would be consumed regardless of the load size.

Hi Champ,

I re-watched the vid. Given the sense of familiarity expressed, his technique is probably well practiced for the unit he is holding. Please bear in mind that every unit is a little different (they are hand made). Given that you are indicating that your Box (with time) gets hot enough to potentially burn, it does not sound like your Box is calibrated too cold -- else burning would not be possible.

The two variables you need to experiment with is 1) increasing or decreasing the time from when the battery is pressed to when you start drawing on it, and 2) how slow or fast you draw when you are hitting on it. If the heating is uneven, you are probably starting your hit too late or not stirring the load frequently enough. If you are not getting enough vapor, you need to either wait a moment longer to start drawing and/or draw a lot slower.

'Indeed, the Box is about Love', yes it is and I am so gald to have had the opportunity to use it, I was able to share just the bottom of the box to a friend, totally a non user, so just the bottom is all she got, it ws a good share for both of us.

I read about a new rubber o-ring being added in the herb chamber along with one in the battery insert. Can you confirm that? After watching this video, I noticed a little round object pointing out of the wood. It looked like some sort of magnet? I'm curious as to what that is. Also, are there any other changes that have been made after releasing it to the public?

I was wondering what that was on the box, too. It seems to me that it may be some sort of notch in the wood and cover to kind of lock it in place?

I can confirm that the new units have both rubber rings that you referred to. I'm pretty sure you can order the battery pushback ring from the manufacturer, but the gasket in the bowl has to be installed by the manufacturer.

Must be a brand new feature. It does indeed seem to be some sort of lid lock. Much cooler than using a rubber band to keep the lid closed.

^^Check out the first comment on the youtube vid

It's a custom feature that this guy came up with himself and installed. He calls it his solution to the rubberband.

Eeek I hate to say this, butt I got a replacement for my magicflight, but the replacement doesn't hit nearly as well :/ meh. it sucks. I can take 30 long hits off of it, never gets hott enough to give me good hits. Like it works , just annoying how long it takes to get high. My other one, i take 3 hits, i'm vaked. so idk

I am definitely seeing a decline in performance with my box. I'm guessing it is the stock batteries.
I have recharged them maybe 20 times at this point, and even with a freshly charged battery it takes 6-8 seconds for vapor to leak out of a freshly loaded trench.

It still works, but I really have to draw the hits out.

Will be ordering new batteries for sure to see if that helps.

I am very familiar with the unit i have and initially i was getting very nice vapor hits. now its like this...
hit it after a few seconds and struggle to extract any vapor...takes forever to get buzzed
or wait for it to heat up a nice bit and still struggle to get vapor.. but can get smoke.
this risks burnin or charring which is happening regularly.

the guy in the vid has in my view a far better superior unit to mine..just saying

my technique has little effect on the result. iv had the unit over nine months and have spent money on 2 chargers and different batteries. all in all a bit dissapointing.

It's between a SYN Straight Tube and Disc Diffused Slide or a Magic Flight Launch Box and given accessories at the moment. I have waited too long for this and I am celebrating getting a quarter of trainwreck.

Can I help you celebrate the trainwreck? :brow:
Can you answer how efficient a 1/10th trench of both fine ground and grinder ground bud is compared to a full trench.

I'm still at a loss about this 1/10 or 10% trench. If you require less than a full trench (approx 50-100 mg) worth of medication, you should still load the trench full, to the shoulders, vape however many draws you need (probably just one), and come back to it later. Why keep loading little 500-1000 mg trenches just because you require less at each sitting? One of the beauties of the LB is it only is on when you need it, don't need to warm it up, so you can load a full trench, come back to it when you want more, without wasting any meds or time reloading.

Unfortunately, I have to add myself to the list of those who have seen a decline in performance with the Box. I've had mine since April or May, and like others have said, I have to reaaaally work hard to get high from the Box. And it doesn't get me nearly as high as it used to. I even used one of my brother's batteries that worked great with his box, and mine still didn't come close to working as well as his.

It really sucks. It's gotten to the point where I'd rather combust than Box because it's so much faster, easier and gets me higher. And I am such a huge fan of the Box. I got four people I know to buy one after they saw and used mine. Now I can't even really use it in a group situation cause it goes around forever and no one gets high.

Just a shame, I seem to have shitty luck with my vaporizers.

I am having trouble figuring out why the LB itself would decline in performance. It seems to me that the construction is so simple that this wouldn't be an issue unless the cause was obvious. For example, I would have thought that if the screen is getting clogged, someone would have mentioned that. If it is separating from the copper-clad conducting rods I would have thought someone would have mentioned that too.

I noticed with my LBs that when I used to load all the way up to the shoulder of the trench, I got a buildup along the shoulder, could that be the cause of this decline? If so, they can be cleaned with ISO, careful brushing, and a couple of empty-trench heat cycles (I used 30-45 seconds).

Other than that, I'd blame the batteries, but both isis and champ3185 have said they tried other batteries. I find the whole thing puzzling because I can't come up with a theory, and I hate mysteries like this.

Why don't they just send in their LB's for evaluation? That way, MF can troubleshoot and report back what the issues are.

I figured it was just the heating element burning out or something. It definitely does not reach the temperatures it used to.

And I think I would feel slightly nervous sending my Box back in the mail, as I have been using it copiously for 6 months and you can't really clean the inside.

There isnt a heating element to "burn out" though. The battery connection heats the wiring and the air pulled through gets heated and vaporizers the herb as it passes through.

I'm also puzzled with all the recent and similar problems

Magic Flight has the best warranty in the business (or any business AFAIK). Contact the company with your performance issue.

As far as mailing the box, if they determine you qualify for warranty replacement, you won't have to send it back. If you do, or ever have to return a vape that's been used, just clean it the best you can, wrap it up in a plastic bag, and pack normally for shipping. Some vapes aren't much of an issue either. If you needed a box vape repaired, you wouldn't ship the whip, and that's the part that would need cleaning. Many used vapes have been shipped over the years, and I've heard of one being seized by UPS or the USPS. It really isn't an issue if you take some common sense steps.

Had a box for about a month now and I'm absolutely loving it. Can literally take this little beauty everywhere, I even hit it on the bus into town and in between lectures. So much smaller than I expected, just looks like a little inhaler or something.

So many people have asked me where to buy one as well, I'm on a vape-converting mission around Manchester now!

I'm not sure about decline in Box performance, but it might be the batteries too. I just got a DBV last week and I can say for sure that it gets me way higher off the same amount compared to an LB, and also much quicker. Still love my LB though, so i'll probably buy some of those top of the line batts later on.. been spending too much money lately:brow:

@Pre-Stoned: the stains dont matter, one of my stupid friends combusted in my box too (literally cherried the trench I was like wtf are you doing lol) but the stains fade away and don't really affect the performance of the box

Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't know enough about conductivity and such to know whether a wire could lose its heating-up capabilities over time, but it doesn't make much sense that it would. The light still lights up and everything--not as bright as before and not as bright as my brother's-- so I know the battery is making the connection.

It's funny because I haven't been on this forum in a while, and I came on here today searching for answers to my Box problem. Turns out I didn't have to go any further than the most recent page to find others with the same problem.
