Discontinued The Herbalizer

Preheat your bowl @ 445F by running fan assist on unpacked bowl until it turns off.
Do it again.
Pack it normal @445F
Put whip in mouth. Turn on fan assist DO NOT INHALE
Wait about 5 seconds until vapor starts leaking from mouth/nose or you feel mouthful of vapor.
Now inhale deeply and Rip it like a champ.

If that does not work, maybe bring it down to Herbalizer HQ and do a comparison or something?

Been Vapin, I haven't tried a pre heat routine like you described. I will try it that way tonight. If that pre heat routine doesn't work then I'll swing by Herbalizer headquarters and have Josh and Bob check it out. I live in north San Diego and the Herbalizer shop is only a 20 miles away. What you said about waiting until the vapor starts pouring out makes sense to me because I feel I'm starting too fast and inhaling more hot air than vapor. I'll report back to the thread on my progress. Thanks for the input man....

What's the routine on changing screens ? I'm sure it's not difficult but I'd rather not damage the current set of screens and only have one left.
How's everyone doing this afternoon?
This GDP at 375 is so soothing and relaxing. Doesn't give off lots of vapor ,the medicated effect is amazing to say the least. Is it possible to grow weary of Herbie ?
I doubt it

@Mrmrmrmr -- switch the bottom and top screens and they clean themselves

@Chill Dude -- maybe it's your pack? I don't pack mine full. Always loose and no higher than where the ss bowl tapers out. I'm thinking if you pack more than me maybe it takes the bowl longer to 'prime'.

@biohacker it was like that since day one I got it..

After seeing a few posts about preheating and the screens. I will have to try those tips and hopefully it gets better.. If not then I will have to contact Herbalizer and see about getting it serviced...

I can appreciate these tips for preheating, but it just isn't necessary on my unit. If you are having problems my guess is the unit is somehow slightly defective or the user's expectations are a little off. The thing I love the most about Herbie is it's consistent performance regardless of the draw speed, etc. No other vape I have ever had is this simple, brainless and consistent.

If it's performance is truly frustrating you I suggest reaching out to Herbalizer to see what they think. They will want to get to the bottom of it, I'm sure. They seem obsessed with it being excellent.

I plan on cleaning and replacing screens on Herbie tonight just to make sure my semi gunked up screens are not impeding vapor flow. I'll also clean the interior and exterior of the bowl and the metal mouth piece with ISO. I might even replace the whip.

Now, replacing the top screen is easy enough, but how about the bottom screen of the bowl? Are those replaceable or not? Do you guys just soak the entire bowl/oven/screen in ISO for a few minutes and let dry?

I want to give Herbie a minor tune up tonight with the goal of maximum cloud production!!

Almost there...
@stickstones I just tried an almost whole nug of Bubba Kush.
Broke a piece of and gently shredded it with my fingers and placed in bowl almost to the top.
Bits were pretty large with minimal effect to trichs, none were on the glass slab.
WOW!!! Tons more flavour and when i emptied the contents i found a nice even brown ABV.
Crumbled that and finished it off with a few more hits.

Flavour seemed to last longer and taste slightly different to ground up material.
I can say the medicated effect (most likely placebo) seems to feel better and last longer.
It has been almost 2 hours and still no need to medicate anytime soon.
Though i often get the want/need mixed up!

As far as cleaning screens goes, i just pop 'em out with the brush, get some iso and salt in my palm, and pinch and scrub the screens with my thumb and index fingers with the iso. Eventually it starts turning color a bit. After that I just rinse them off and set them aside to dry.

For the bowl I use a pipe cleaner dipped in isopropyl. I can usually get two bowl cleanings out of each pipe cleaner as long as I don't let it get too dirty.

the ob

all good in the hood.
as a general rule, I grind a grind similar to all the ones that I use with my vaporizers, which is slightly more coarse than pepper. I also used to fill the bowl and then tap the bottom of the bowl on a table to "settle" the stuff. I now will actually take my thumb and ever so slightly pack it down a little if I want to see denser clouds......

oh and when using the whip (which I do less frequently now for some reason) I turn on the fan assist hold the tip up to the light and when I see vapor coming out, start at that point. If you start immediately, it takes a couple of seconds for the vapor to reach your mouth.

I know you can simply pop out the top screen for cleaning or replacement, but how about the bottom of the bowl screen? It doesn't seem that it can be removed easily. I think I will just soak the bowl enclosure and bottom screen in ISO w/o removing the screen as I don't think it can be removed.

It comes off quite easily. Just give it a little force. The screens are flexible like the pipe screens you can get at headshops, so when I put it back in I just fold slightly, slide it in, and let it flatten out into place.

You can use your finger in one end and the brush tip to help flatten it out if you bend it too much.

I noticed a clicking sound when my Herbie was heating up and during a session. I heard clicking noises coming for what sounded like right around the bulb that continued for 5 seconds maybe and then subsided for 10-25 seconds and then started again. I hope nothing's wrong with Herbie. Any thoughts that could ease my mind ?
Don't think I could live without Herbie if I had to send it back :o

i just swap the screens. put the top one below and vice versa. the herbie cleans them for me. btw, try a session with the screens swapped and the herbie turned up to max. i get good clouds off of that top screen when its in the bottom bowl.

On mine, it's the magnetic ring that holds the bowl in place that starts vibrating and rattling.

When it starts doing that, I either just put the bowl on, or I tuck my metal Herbie brush into the front of the whip reservoir ring. The magnet gets attracted to that and stops buzzing. :D

Okay, so I'm a dumb ass! It turns out that my lack of good vapor flow was due to dirty screens. Last night I replaced all screens, soaked the oven and metal mouthpiece in ISO for a few minutes and replaced the whip with a new one. Now the vapor is thick as ever right from the get go! No pre heat routine needed. The weird thing is that it's difficult to tell how dirty the screens are just by looking at them.

So, for those of you who experience diminished vapor production; the first course of action is to clean or replace the screens. Huge fucking clouds with Herbie at 420F last night!
