Regarding high altitude torches......
I bought this torch at a head shop in Leadville (10,200 feet!) and it works great:
http://www.amazon.com/Scorch-Torch-Cigar-Lighter-ST612989/dp/B00GAFFSRE
I've used my Zico up to 9000 ft without issues as well.

Well now I'm perplexed.

Most people say normal torch lighters don't work in high altitude. Companies have come up with high altitude alternatives. And then you come along and say you had first hand success with a normal one at 10,000'!

Definitely appreciate your experience though. Perhaps I'm overthinking this, but I just want to vape some flowers on the slopes!

Torches can be very finicky, and I may have just gotten lucky. The shop let me test it before buying, so I knew it was good one.

Definitely a good strategy. One I considered after you mentioned it. However, the city with the recreational shops I'll be hitting up is only at ~5700'. And the mountain I'll be on ranges from 7800'-9800'.

I think I might try and hit up a few cigar shops around town when I get home and see if they'll let me try the lighters. If I can find one of the high altitude approved lighters, and it remains lit when upside down, then I'm picking one up!

Edit: Nevermind. I emailed the company and they told me how to remove the screen.

How do you guys clean the cap and WPA? Is there a way to change the screen on the WPA? I can't figure it out and I don't want to break anything. I looked on the site for the Lotus and could not find any information.

I do not clean my cap, ever.... does anyone?

WPA:

I push out the screen (from the bottom and out the top of the WPA).
I torch the screen, then put through running water to clear the ash and carbon debris.
Then drop the WPA in a small shot glass for 1-2 minutes.
Take out the WPA and run it under a hot sink, it will look perfect.
Put the screen back in and get to use!

I bang the side of the cap on the table to dislodge any AVB.

I usually wait a month before cleaning the WPA. I prefer to scrape the WPA, only takes like 20 seconds. Then I vape the screens.

The most I have done for the cap is just kinda tap any ABV particles out and I once ran a small gauge wire gently in the cold air intake to make sure they were all clear.

In other news @Max Jitter is sending me a warranty cap replacement. Thanks again max! Awesome service can't recommend the lotus enough. Last week was a bad week for my lotus though. I dropped the dry stem and mis shaped the bowl so the cap wouldn't fit :spidey: . While trying to straighten it out using a drill bit ( by hand) i accidentally extracted the press fit bowl section from the stem. Then of course there's the cracked cap and I also had my vehicle broken into and the window broken out (on Labor Day). Labor Day week is always kinda like my Friday the 13th. The day I dropped the lotus was a few hours off from the anniversary of my accident when I broke both my legs.

It really meant a lot to have something go right after such a shitty week. So I just wanted to say a BIG thanks to Max for getting me all squared away with a new cap and bowl. Outstanding service, response time, and an incredible vape i really can't ask for anymore.

Here is my First impressions after 2 days and 5 grams through it.

It is pretty much as the boosters in this thread have described. With correct technique the Lotus can preform however you want it to. You can milk some of the hugest rips Ive experienced, or nurse it slow for max effect.
Im having some trouble with perfecting my technique with my bubb but it is working well with my jhook. And the only thing I dont like is that it takes a few seconds of pulling to get the vapor going initially. Full review in a week or so.

Manage to convert a smoker this week i(or at least get him to buy a Lotus)! nice hits as per usual although my newbie friend was taking a different style of hit whereby he would hit it real hot & close like with the torch and when the vapor starts he would stop the flame but just continue pulling for a slight while and i could see the vapor form fast and thick and then he took his time to finish the stored vapor in 2-3 inhale-exhale-slight break cycles. i thought that was nice change to my usual-style of taking in the big hit vapor all at once.

on a sidenote, the search function doesn't seem to help so does anyone know what are the sizes for the o-rings on the WPA and where i could possibly get some?

Trimming last night for like 10hrs straight a friend and I basically ran a topped off honest out of gas. Had to take the WPA because the dry stem is still temporarily out of comisson. The lotus was handling trim and scissor hash right off the plant like a beast. My buddy who has used the lotus several times before on different occasions was still blown away at the performance and how tasty it was with the fresh material :ko: :D

Very nice use of the D020!
Do you have a D022?
Works well with a LOTUS!
I want to make a video one day like you!

Is it wrong that I prefer to use my Lotus over my Herbalizer? It was a fraction of the price but such a better experience. The flavor is more pure and the experience more connected.

Plus, it hits like a freight train.

Nothing wrong my friend! You got it very quickly…. Connection is the right word. A more intimate experience. :luv: I suspect the new Daisy is on par as well.

Oh my… I wish I had some stash around… :ugh:

I need to stop using my lotus when i'm way too vaked  It's already the 4th time i combusted because i forgot the plate was still hot..
Guess i will learn eventually.. however i'm really loving it when used the right way! Very good extraction, efficient and good flavor!
Also you can take very big hits of vapor with this little portable. It's also very cool when you show it to people who never saw/heard about it.. :science:

I accidentally combusted yesterday. :bang:
It's somehow easier to combust with the water pipe. I guess because I don't feel it getting hot.
Fortunately the vapor path is long enough that when I see it happen, I can abort the hit and save my lungs.
Damn, smoke is nasty! FUCK COMBUSTION!!!!!!

I have only used torch vapes, Lotus and glass vapor genie.
Here's my ranking for ease of accidental combustion from most likely to least likely:

GVG with torch
Lotus with water pipe
Lotus with metal stem
GVG with regular lighter (unless I'm so vaked I forget to put the cap back on )

Some Alien OG and our early girl of some C4 (sativa dominant hybrid) she threw out some baseball bat size colas, came out really nice. The netting was sooo sticky when I finally got it out
