Or your others are running cooler? I have started using my Solo exclusively on temp 2 and 3, and even temp 2 can make some serious clouds (big but thinner) if I allow enough of a pre soak. If I let it heat soak on 4 or higher, it can roast pretty significantly through conduction and I have lost many loads in the past because of forgetting lol

I love my Solo!

PS. Obviously the rumours regarding a new portable or updated Solo from Arizer is just that, rumours! (from over a month ago).

edit:

I understand that, I'm obviously not expecting to hit it like a bong but I was hoping I wouldn't have to change the way I toke just for this vape.
I have the EQ by Arizer and it pulls smoothly with zero resistance. As a smoker and toker for nearly 10 years I had a big problem with having to take very slow hits off of the Pax with its strong resistance. I'm also a mouth-draw kind of guy rather than straight-to-the-lungs so my natural resistance already affects the way I toked the Pax.

I dunno man, the new Solo has some wicked airflow when mated with an epicvape nano gong. I can let it heatsoak for not even a minute, and get the thickest densest vapour i've ever experienced (similar to Nano, but thicker than my Cloud+)....it LOOKS like smoke, but isn't. I've also used cotton with shatter in the Solo....again monster thick dabs!

As a smoker and toker for the past 10 years, coughing and a hard throat-hit are probably the biggest reasons why I'm making the transition to full-time vaping.

I've tried a Pax before and the pull isn't that great. It's tight and I just didn't like it too much. I don't want to have to use so much force just to get a little bit of vapor. Reviewers have said the Solo is tighter than the Pax and similar to "pulling on a thick milkshake" which would probably give me a headache after continuous use. I like to inhale as if I'm simply taking a breath rather than "pulling on a thick milkshake".

I guess I'll have to try it first to really know what it's like.
My Solo is super new (days old) , your first post seemed relevant but after the 12 minute burn in on level 7 (recommend by Arizer before use) the milkshake draw was removed and now its at a whole different level of smooth.

At first it will feel clogged but trust us it will be so smooth you shouldn't need any mods or specific stems from the get go. Though you may want a wooden stem if any.

Not trying to chase clouds, just don't want a tight draw. I'm the kinda guy that likes lots of airflow.

Looks like a few people mentioned that. I really think I'm going to end up with the Solo but I still need some more research.

I was thinking about a log-vape because I hate how all the portables have a 45 min to 2 hours (if I'm lucky) of battery life but then I was told the new Solo can be used while plugged in which is awesome.

I have a log and a SOLO.
You need both.
However I use the SOLO more than anything else.
It is fast.
It is cheap.
It is easy.
It is basic.
If you want simple and flavor is not important get a pack of papers
And forget about it!
Or get a SOLO and get a log later.
Air flow PHVES adapters!
Stem dry GonG's wet!
I like PHVES from planet vapes

Brand new to the world of vaping. I’m a long-time sufferer of severe back pain and spasms, something like thirty years now, but never managed any of it with medical cannabis until now.

When asked what he wanted for his birthday, my nineteen year old son said he wanted to get my wife and me high. It was really strange since neither of us had used marijuana since we were teenagers or 20-ish but he broke out his bong and we gave it a try. It was a surprisingly cool experience. A few weeks later, we visited my older son and his family in Denver and he introduced us to vaping, albeit on a Pax. It was so much better than combusting is even through water. And my back pain was much reduced.

Now, I've been using opiate pain meds and muscle relaxers for years. I only used those things when absolutely necessary because I just can’t function on them and I’m afraid of the addiction potential. The top shelf strain my sons shared with us worked so much better and I could still get things done.

I decided right then to get my MMJ card as soon as I got back to my southwest desert state. I started researching vaporizers in my normally OCD way. I watched and read every comparison of vapes I could find on YouTube and review sites. Given my planned usage style (almost entirely at home but not tied to an outlet) everything kept steering me to the Solo. I found FC and read a ton. In this thread I read the first 300 pages and the last 200 and finally decided to pull the trigger.

I ordered my solo from Randy at PIU. He was awesome. I sent him an inquiry at 8pm last Friday night and he answered me within 20 minutes. We emailed back and forth over the weekend, arranged for a great price, he threw in screens and o-rings and I ordered at 5pm Monday. He mailed it same day and the package arrived Thursday morning. Probably would have come Wednesday if we didn't live in the sticks. My MMJ card arrived in the same mail delivery. It was like it was all meant to be.

Charged it all day yesterday and got a small session in with my wife last night. Wow. So much better than combusting and markedly better than the Pax. I'll have to write more about it in another post.

I've also ordered a 3-inch wong from Ed’s TnT and a D020 from Dhgate to enhance the experience. Looking forward to those.

Thanks, all you experts, for all the insights I've read here over the last few weeks. Because of y'all I bought from a great retailer, charged the Solo for maximum battery life, knew how to get good draws from it and am loving this great machine. Thanks again, you helpful types. You know who you are.

First off, howdy! Great first post, welcome to the Forum. I'm sure you're gonna fit right in.

Great job on the homework, Solo is an excellent choice for sure. And you did good finding our Randy at PIU. Sorry to burst your bubble, but a while back I bought another Solo from him (to get a new model to test), he did the same 'mailed out right away' thing with me only he's like 80 miles away and the timing worked out, I had the sucker in my hands in under 24 hours! I swear, it happened, I was there. That level of service just can't be beat.

A bit of advice on the 'need to function' front. Check your local Dispensaries for "high CBD" stuff. Like AC/DC, Jamaican Lion, and (my personal fav) Cannatonic. High CBC (and low THC) generally let us MMJ guys get the medical benefit without getting too stoned. You can easily function in most cases, even when heavily medicated. Eatables are also worth looking into, IMO they too have a role to play in the MMJ world.

Regards and best wishes. I hope you continue to really enjoy your Solo (almost a given), and start giving some massing thought to getting a backup vape, both as insurance against problems with the Solo and for an occasional 'change of pace' session.

Thanks for the post, looking forward to your next.

Yes Don - I've had a SOLO now for 18 months, dropped menny times, still wurks but I knew the day will soon come I'll want, so I did - the new is way fast to heat and quick to raise temps - I had bought a 110v power supply for my old, but yes, the new model has a charger that lets you toke whilst plugged in! Your research is a wise move, but if excellent taste means anything to you, this is the #1 choice over everything except the Herbalizer and I prefer it over the Volcano for taste (the Volcano rules for crowds & parties tho')
- if you want discreet, for toking in a bar it fails, but not in the washroom  if you want killer clouds of smoke, forget it, but nice easy toking with nicely cured bud - it's "Toker's Bliss" :leaf:

So...just got a solo, wow, works great!

I have been trying to figure out what the lights are signifying. Is there a glossery or key for this?

The instructions show very little. I think I have it figured out, except for the blue idle light. No matter what is going on, that little blue light is always on. Is that normal?

At the beginning of this thread there probably are directions. The newer model can be charged and used at the same time. All the explanations for the lights and how to turn the beep sound off should all be there.

In the beginning, the Solo had a lot of problems. If you see all of that stuff, just ignore. Everything Arizer fixed.

Thanks for the welcome, OF. Why am I not surprised that you were the first to read and reply? You're a wealth of info for us newbies.

My one and only local, rural dispensary is pretty pathetic. I went in yesterday and overpaid for a gram of Blue Dream. Yummy stuff but, like I said, I paid too much for it. Their selection is small, they're not particularly knowledgeable and they overcharge. The local police in our waaaay too conservative town are known to watch the place and follow and "randomly" stop drivers down the road after they leave the lot. The next closest dispensary to me is 70+ miles away and known to be all the things the local one isn't. I'm planning a Saturday morning drive over there to pick up some different strains at better prices. Looks like their top shelf options are Blue Dream, Blue Cheese, Girl Scout Cookies and Skywalker. I'm reading about all of those on the FC strain threads and Leafly today. I'll probably grab some edibles as well.

@CarolKing and @ataxian, I agree. The Blue Dream we ran through the Solo last night was fantastic. Sure a lot different than the unnamed bags of shatter I was used to back in the late '70s, early '80s.

My wife and I did a single session at 3 (maybe four or five really long hits each). I felt really relaxed but able to focus (at least enough to follow the story lines in a couple of TV shows). This strain had the added bonus of making my wife feel "tingly." It was a great night!

@krusht, I'm in rural Arizona.

Thanks for the quick replies. Its definitely working good.

One other question...

When its plugged in, charging, and I am using it, is there any way by looking at the lights as to whether or not it is still on or not. Or when its plugged in, is it always on? I know it shuts itself off after 12 minutes or so, at that time, it appears as if the lights are showing battery level, not the level of heat?

It seems hard to tell whether it is just plugged in and off or whether it is still on and has just reached its temperature. Or am i stupid, and missing something?

Press the two top buttons (at the same time) that turns the Solo on and off. The left button brings the temp hotter. The right button turns the temp down.

If you are using your Solo to vape ( there's heat ) the lights show the temp. If you are not using it to vape and there is no heat and it's charging, the lights show the battery level.

The green light is the charging light. The red light is when it's heating up. When all 7 lights are lit up and the green light is still flashing, take your Solo off the charger. Don't charge to a solid green. That is bad on the battery.

Only charge to a full solid green if it's your first charge. The first charge, keep it on the charger for at least 8 hours. @OF Did you say 8 or 12 hours initially charge?

Is that what the kids call it these days?

The OP claims to be an experienced hand with grown children. Granted the SO could be a retread (or as we do in LA 'the current one'......I have a cousin from down there now on his fifth......two of which I never met) and on the young side but I strongly suspect he doesn't really care what the code word is.

As long as his secret decoder ring doesn't let him down, of course. Not a good opportunity to be missing in both the short and long terms.

Regards to all.

I ended up ordering the Solo from PlanetVape on Friday, along with some O-Rings, screens and travel caps! Should get here pretty soon. But one thing I saw on the order page was the "Silver Ice Metallic" version which was out of stock. I looked pretty shmexy. I'm wondering if that's a 2014 version and if they re-stock on those often, because it was all grey unlike the usual Solos.

Congratulations on you're new investment in your health and well being. Solos come in black and silver. Love waiting for a new vaporizer. Around here anticipation is almost as good as the real thing, once you know your vape is on the way.

EDIT
We haven't heard of a different Solo?

If you want water tools with your Solo. Check out the cheap glass thread. No sense spending a fortune on glass pieces. Sometimes shit happens (you maybe over medicated?) and they break. You don't want to be out 100s of dollars.

Thanks, it's my pleasure. I don't feel like I'll be waiting for too long though! And I am aware of the fact that the solo comes black and silver, but the one displayed on PlanetVape has an all-silver color, meaning that the body and the area where the buttons/lights are are silver.
