That will work and in fact is the recommended procedure for 2400 mAH batteries but the charge will take longer. I only used 1200 as an example for calculating the charging rate. For the fastest charge (which is also the hardest on your batteries) enter the actual capacity of the battery, which is 2400 in this case. Slower charging is easier on the batteries and will extend their lifetime, and that's why Maha recommends charging at .5c.

The Maha faq is here:

http://www.mahaenergy.com/store/mhc9000faq.asp

In reading through it I see that it says if you just put in batteries and don't press any buttons, it will default to charging mode at 1 A (1000 mA) or in your case, .417c, which is fine but even slower than what I described.

The decision you have to make is how much battery life do you want to trade off for charging speed. I don't have any numbers for that, but I would use a charging rate of .5c myself. I have only put Powerex batteries thought mine so far. Although I do have the Imedions that came with my LBs, I've not charged them with the C9000 yet. I'm not sure how long Imedions would take, but it depends on how flat they were and what charging rate you chose. I realize that's not too helpful but anything I post would just be a guess. Lots of other people here own this charger and I'm sure someone will drop by eventually with an estimate.

Question about grind consistency...

When i usually roast my bud, it starts tasting not good when its still kind of green (some brown and stuff), but its not even. I am guessing my bud isn't ground fine enough. This still happens though after i crumble it in my fingers. (i have a space case but it doesn't have the finest grind), i want to get a coffee grinder but i only grind small amounts at a time)

What do you guys think I should do?

Shorter hits or longer hits for a more pleasurable even vaping experience? I usually do about 2-3 seconds wait, then 5 second draw... then tap n flip technique.

my opinion real quick is what makes the mflb so great is the fact that the longer you leave the battery in, the hotter the temperature inside the mflb and that combined with draw speed, really allows you to have complete control

now with that said, think about if you hit a bowl, most of the time you have to use a lighter, well it makes it easier because since herb in bowls whether its out of a bong, a piece, whatever, the herb isnt as fine so for it to burn, it needs more heat

so when the herb inside a mflb is ground as fine as possible, that is how you get basically "instant" or like 3 seconds to start vaporizing

and typically, your best tasting hits will be the 1st and 2nd, and maybe third depending on your method of hitting it, after that, you will get vapor, just not as tasty, hope that helps

cheers everyone

Yeah that first virgin hit on a new trench with a fresh battery is almost like
a pull on a doob! :o
After that it's good vapor but less taste on all of the following hits. :(
Great herb will allow you to regrind it after two or three pulls, and the taste
comes back.
I have some grapefruit buds in the garage that are calling me just now so C U. :brow: :ko:

It's definitely all to do with the grind. I've got a 4pc grinder and it doesn't grind nearly fine enough - but a coffee grinder is perfect. Crumbling after a few hits does a perfectly acceptable job for when you don't have access to a coffee grinder.

It's only really tasty for the first hit or two after that I dunno, it's just like hot air. I think I take bigger draws than others though, maybe for like 20 seconds? I'm sure I go through herb faster than other people but it's worth it for the big, long, high-temp hits that you can get. '

Nooooooooo! The first hit on a trench is sweet and flavourful and tasty and, well, magnificent. A pull on a doob is like having a charcoal briquette in your mouth. Agreed on the rest of your post.

PS Where did you say your garage was again?

Agreed! After vaping for a while combustion is sooooo barbaric! ;)

I haven't been on in awhile and thought I'd browse around when I saw this:

Here's a pic of my LB trench after 2 months of 10-12 trenches/day

For those who are unlucky enough to have jobs where plug-in power isn't an option for a vape, I understand. I think highly of my LB(s), as I think is well understood by now, but you do know you are sucking in air through wood and plexiglass, right? That's why it's generally understood that it's a portable, nevermind most of us can't get afford only organic medicine to fuel the whole thing. :2c:

In other news, depending on how Prop 19 goes, the LB might be the perfect gift this year... :D

I bought some energizer rechargeable batteries a couple months ago for my mflb and I store them in a little cardboard box. Last night, I placed the box in my backpack and when I opened it up there was black goo over the batteries and seemed to be leaking from the nipple end of one of the batteries...

Needless to say, I threw the battery out. I just want to know if this will damage the other batteries, charger, or mflb itself as the batteries have a bit of the black substance on them.

Thanks, btw the mflb was the best weed-related choice I've ever made... although, I get high a lot more often then I used to, which can be interpreted as either good or bad.

The pic's intention was to show that it looks reasonably clean for what i kinda consider using the shit out of it.

Am I missing something? What does the wood and plexiglass have to do with anything?

I'm on like trench 10 of the day of some funknasty so bear with me :)

Using the shit out of it is fine and dandy. I think of the LB as what my grandfather would have used, if he vaped. Potential long-term issue is w/the air intake: wood + plexi.

The stem is acrylic if i'm not mistaken. No issues with acrylic i believe. I don't even use the stem, neither do a lot of people.

Does wood in the airpath really have any long-term issues? People have smoked through wood pipes for years and i've never heard that it was unhealthy for you, and vaporization takes place in even lower tempertures than combusting.

I dont repeatedly hit the thing nonstop. I casually hit it all day. I highly doubt the warm wood and acrylic is doing any kind of bad. And if there are any "long term issues" got the warrenty. Soooo. I got a Zap coming 2mrw so the LB go portable only from here on out.

The stem is after the fact. Also, under the trench you are likely to be vaping a bit of wood overtime. Finally, passing the green zone is common. Even the crappy Volcano has a replaceable air-intake filter.

It's great for a portable, I'm just surprised to see people using it as their 24/7 vape.

That makes more sense. The Zap will be the day in and out vape. As long as there are no apple/foil pipes... :p

:/ don't the PD and MZ both have the same issue in the long-term? I jiust don't think it should be considered an issue.

When the fuck did I get put on trial here anyway? If I wanna use the LB as my main vape, I will. Plain and simple. My younger years of doing random drugs will do more damage the the possibilty of wood and acrylic entering my system(which isn't even the case here!). I used to snort maple trees fool. :)

I use the LB as my main vaporizer, and have since February, about 9 months now. I have no plans to use any other vaporizer anytime soon either. :)

I agree, no problem with daily usage.

I've used many wooden pipes daily, combusting on a LOT higher temps, and I also did my fair share of shitty drugs and take in methods. I don't think a little birch wood will have any negative effects, as well as the plexiglass is sure not to emit harmful chemicals at these temperatures.

just another reason the box is magic.....it can be used on occasion or virtually non stop and perform the same no matter what.

I was wondering what the point was when you posted your picture. My thought was more or less exactly what you intended, namely that your LB looks pretty darn good. It's also what I expected it should look like. In the long run, the durability issues are minimal. The screen is delicate and you have to be careful but for me at least, glass is way more delicate. I've broken four glass pieces for my Extreme so far.

The plexiglas cover can be snapped off when it's open but again this is a care issue not a wear issue. In fact the cover is probably the part that will require the most maintenance for me. I don't know if this is typical but I am getting a slow, gradual, but noticeable condensation layer right above the heating chamber. This might just be my technique or my stash, so I don't know if others have this. The first time I cleaned it I had to resort to applying a dab of toothpaste, but it comes off.

As for the chances that the wood or the plexiglas are causing harm, I have two points. One, there are a lot of people around here like me (and you apparently), who spent months and even years using things like coke can chillums and "bowls" made by pricking holes in aluminum foil. We're still here. I can't speak for you or any of the others, but at first I found the purity obsession amusing. Now it's just tiresome, which brings me to point two: if anyone has some evidence that the materials in the LB are harmful at the temperatures they reach, then post it. Innuendo and speculation don't help anything.

pakalolo,
pakalolo, hi, if u have vaped about an oz thru your mflb, & vape honey resin is buildin up on cover, wow, below screen & draw hole u prolly have lots of thick vape honey resin yup? do u scape below screen with toothpik n get kinda like wand hash

Hey everyone, about to order a Launch Box as my first vape hopefully.

I use quite frequently so I think I wanna get some extra batteries.

Do these batteries work well with the box? They are NiMh but i've heard about peeling labels off and some brands are better than others for vape usage.

Thanks

There's a layer for sure but it's just a thin coating. Because the LB vapes almost in your mouth if you hit it native (as I do) there's little opportunity for condensation. I've only cleaned my cover once and I won't need to do it again for a while. Also, it wasn't a thick layer, I could still see through it easily. I just didn't want it to go any further.
