Discontinued The Persei Vaporizer for herbs and concentrates.

Great Scott!
Nitecore D4 is awesome thanks for the suggestions guys. The stock charger died after 1 use lol.... would be nice to have as a backup, but its probably not worth the return shipping cost.

So the EO carts...make me sad. I love the design. I love how easy they are to load (with good concentrates), but at the same time I can't get over the taste. Not just taste, I literally can't use them without feeling sick. My throat hurts, my nose hurts and I get a weird metallic flavor that just won't go away for like 20+ min. I fear my concentrate in there (.75+) is gone for good :( Unless there is a way to reclaim it safely, but I really don't know what else the solvent would come in contact with in the EO cart design so I'm not sure. Its a shame because if it didn't taste like ass or burn, I'd be thrilled with the EO carts themselves as a cera replacement. Load a lot take hits as needed, perfect.

I've got the SR74 on the way (thanks @nao12000 ) and hopefully that experience is even better. Based on the design and feedback I'm quite sure it is. Maybe I'll eventually try a different "new?" EO cart to see if that is an improvement. How much is the minimum safe amount to load. Wasting oil is a big no-no to me at the prices I pay to make my own.

I used the EO carts on my omicron v2.5 couple years ago. I found the same thing then as you are experiencing now; weird flavors ect.

Im curios if you are using an older model EO on which uptech has made changes since?

I don't know. Its a V1 persei new in box, bought on ebay clearance from uptech themselves.

I like everything but the flavor. If the EO carts didn't taste like burning metal and harsh my throat and nose so bad that I'm just abandoning my oil.... then I wouldn't even need a herc.

If they made changes to the EO carts I'd love to know what changes were made because these without that issue would be AMAZING.

go dig around the Omicron thread or the first few hundred pages of this thread if you still refuse to take my word and simple identification of the EO carts since they were improved and taste better. I have been using the EO carts for nearly 3 years, used dozens of them, and yes the really old ones which you have because you just bought a really really old kit instead of a current model. You will find hundreds of pages of the same suggestion repeated: start with 2.4 only after mastering move to 1.5 and then higher power or you will never figure out how to not kill your oil.

@darkrom did you do a quick dry burn on the carts before loading? IIRC there was usually some machining oil on the coils that caused an off flavor at first. Hitting the power real quick before loading usually burnt that off.

@darkrom all early EO carts needed to be oxidized, the newer ones we oxidize but still preferred if the end user did it as well. These carts are based on old ecig technology and not the best for oils. There have been a few upgrades to them but since you purchased a clearance unit you might have received an older version.

As for the Hercules they are two different beasts. You shouldn't have any issues with the Herc if you do a proper wipe down prior to use and a burn in period of 3 minutes empty.

my herc sr74 doesnt leak at all and the 74x upgrade leaks alot and fills the recliam so i went back to my reg 74

I have a 74 as well, not the 74x

im curious what kind of concentrate you have used that did not leak. I havent even broke my herc in yet, no co2 oils up here inthe mountains, have to go babylon to find that stuff, lol. I may try it with some kief or bubble though, if im brave enough.. lol

Thus far I have run honeycomb, shatter, and CO2 oils of various viscosity through my SR74. Early on I had some issues with leakage regardless of concentrate type because myself and friends were holding down the button for too long and not doing any sort of cool down hits. Now that we have mastered the technique the only time I experience leakage is with very thin CO2 oils. My personal preference are the thicker CO2 oils.

I should add that using the Nibbler XL is a huge help in ensuring you don't hold the button down too long since you can visibly monitor the amount of vapor production.

1st Impression:
It's much lighter than expected. Even with batteries in it's quite light. This isn't really a big deal to me but it's the first thing I noticed. I guess after holding a Cera for a couple years or whatever, everything seems kind of light in comparison.

Right away I had a problem though. I got an EO cart but I didn't get a fill tool. That's my bad though, for some reason I was thinking it would be included but doesn't really make sense to ship one with every cart. Dumb mistake.

I managed to load some shatter into it though and I'm enjoying it so far. 2.4ohm cart on 3.7v seems to get the job done for me. I haven't noticed any real funk to the flavor or anything but I made sure it was oxidized right away. I won't be able to really rip into it until later so we'll see how it goes.

Glad you go started and on your way, get use the 2.4's then start with the 1.5's they hit harder and then 5.0's at 7.4v even harder.

Your next step would be graduating to Hercules SR74 status.

Edited.

Hey G thanks. Maybe I'll try the EO carts again some time.

So my SR74 just showed up from you guys without an oil coil :/ Everything else seems to be included after a quick checkover.

Any way to get one to me before friday? I'm going to hempfest this weekend and wanted to demo this persei stuff to a crowd there, but its looking like a no go. I'm not going to demo the EO cart or people will never buy this stuff! haha.

I'm hoping to get a coil in time, if not I'll be stuck hauling around the cera to show off to patients, and then ending up telling them that they can't get one. Ouch.

That must be it. I didn't do a burnoff or know anything about "oxidizing" the carts. How do I do that? I've got one spare cart left that came with the kit.

@SamuraiSam I listened to you trust me. Its just my kit came with 2 EO carts. I didn't oxidize it however you do that...
I'm sure it is an old cart.

I'm 100% positive I'm not cooking the oil though. Its gotta be the old cart or me not prepping it right, but I had no idea there was prep work involved in the EO cart. I can try to oxidize my other spare 5 ohm cart, but I don't want to buy new ones after just buying a herc and a ton of W9 stuff.

Maybe when I actually get up and running and can get successful results with anything other than the KISS cart, then I'm sure I'll buy more. But for now I don't want to stock up on carts that I may or may not have any use for once I get the missing oil coil for my herc. I got 2 EO carts as part of my kit, I'd like to use those before spending any more cash.

I know its just bad luck, but I've spent some serious cash on W9 stuff so far and due to missing items or bad tastes in old carts that I didn't know I had to oxidize, I am yet to be able to vape ANY oil besides using the minicron lite... I even had to drop more cash to get a proper battery charger because the persei one came DOA. I'm not blowing off your suggestions, I'm just frustrated at how much money I've blown on a pile of persei stuff, that so far is useless. I'm sure I'll be a happy camper whenever I get it up and running, but who knows when that'll be. Hopefully before I am supposed to demo the "best" oil solutions on the market to groups of patients. If I can't get it up and running then obviously I can't call it the best.

Thermovape cera certainly had its drawbacks, but at least it worked right out of the box without a bunch of additional expenses. I know W9 will take care of the oil coil, but it kinda sucks having a useless herc, 2 persei's and an SS kit and no way to use any of it.

I have to say differently. TET Cera needed extra expenses just to work out of the box.

1. Needed to purchase the EO cartridge
2. Batteries
3. Charger
4. Specific oils

Compared to the Persei

1. Cartridges included
2. Batteries included
3. Charger included
4. Oil not included.

Now when you compare the Persei with the EO

Persei + Aw batteries + Charger + Hercules can now be compared with the Cera since you need the same things.

And after this the only 2 differences you will see is.

EO Carts worked only with specific oils, and needed constant returns to company for service.

vs

Hercules Carts work with all oils, and the only service you needed was cleaning.

See super fast customer support. I'm sure I'll love W9 once I'm up and running. Its just been a rocky start.

Thanks for the support.

Is there anything I can do with my herc without the oil coil, or is it frankly not worth trying anything without that coil?

sure you can, want to do something crazy?

Load oil and herbs, the herbs will act as the coil, youll vaporize the oils first, then the herbs, then you get to where you need to get to much quicker.

Its like heaven i tell you heaven.

Make sure you load in layers.

I might just be patient. Only because I want to try it the right way first as assembled by you guys. It sounds interesting so I will try the bud thing. Who knows if I'll last a couple days, might try layering tonight :)

So the first thing I should do is just do an empty burn off for a couple min?

When you get the unit, you need to take it apart and clean it, make sure its all nice and clean, this gives you a chance to learn the unit.
