Great Scott!
So the herc tastes like metal, or what am I doing wrong?

I know the instinct is to say I'm cooking it, but I promise this isn't burnt oil taste and I'm literally doing 1/2 second pulse to just try to get flavor and barely visible vapor. Also the flavor IS improved greatly if I blow the oil into the cart before each hit which is weird. This is oil that passes the foil test and flows nicely.

Ordered my nitecore D4 to handle my 18350s and 18650s.

It would be REALLY HELPFUL if there were more in depth instructions on how to use the herc sr74 ect

being vague doesnt really help anyone on a internet forum.

How do you look into the cart there is that plate in the way?

I have one KISS cart already. It definitely has better flavor. I also want something to load multiple days worth of oil at once. Weeks ideally with how little I use at once. I have a sr74 on the way soon.

Did I explain the light, the camera and then using your eyeballs? You know those things in the middle of your face?

The herc is slow as shit, reeks, and kills batteries with ease and murders all oil.

The one good thing it has going for it is it tastes like a bowl of vaped weed and not like oil at all. Your either using shitty wax, or its empty and your a doofus.

Or you didn't squish the coil and your a doofus.

At 3.7v (black rod for you geniuses) It took me about 15 seconds to heat up and then a retardedly (uncomfortably) slow draw gives nice clouds that taste like a bowl of weed. I'd assume that 7.4 takes half the time since double voltage.

Also your high for thinking the Kiss cart burns through oil fast. I'm willing to bet 10$ your just hitting an empty herc.

if i had to guess id say your probably using some of the very old EO carts that needed to be oxidised before use and had reports of bad taste due to the maufacturing process if yhou didnt oxidise them ive bought a bunch of 2.4 ohm carts meant to be used on 3.7v ran several grams through em on an ophos before upgrading to the persei and have run them on my persei at 7.4v and never had the burnt metal taste your describing also when id load a gram id get a couple weeks out of an eo cart nightly use to help me sleep and weekends heavy use with a few friends

Why are we beating around the bush were? The original carts taste like shit regardless. Sure they get you baked but I'd never describe it as pleasant.

Your already burning off trichomes (stuff that gets you high) when you get it to melt into the cart, and now you have this oily half used wax that your going to hit which recycles into the storage tube through the inhalation tube until it's all gone.

Clever, works, but your high if you bought them for taste.

Hit me with some more questions noobs and I shall spread my wealth of knowledge.

Got the day off son. So ask fast

theres no reason to act like a bully everyones welcome to their opinion and theres no need to attack anyone based on theirs i was simply trying to determine why he was having such a bad taste when i know the EO carts ive had have tasted good and his experience is far off from my own with those carts but your right EO carts dont taste as good as the kiss carts and the herc trumps everything

While your posting on a forum about how to get high?

With spending so much time on the internet I'm very surprised you are so easily offended.

Let me inject something useful and on topic. The Bender is getting me wrecked today! And it tastes oh so good.
@darkrom IME the EO carts are very tricky with crumbles and really stable shatters. The metallic taste came for me when it was near empty or if the oil had either run up one side(from laying on its side) of the cart or the oil was not loaded all the way to the bottom of the reservoir. You don't really want to blow in there because it will force oil into the air tube causing leaks and clogs.

How about we stay on topic?

My main misgiving with the EO cartridges is that they have to be pampered and prepped to really get off a good hit. Not sure if it's mainly due to product consistency, but some oils tend to bubble a bit when heated - some producers swear these are caused by terpenes, not solvent but not wanting to go down that road.

It seems this sets up for a few great pulls on an EO cart, but then it will get wispy until a bit of "maintenance" is done. Generally I find this either heating up the side of the cart to let the oil settle / air rise and/or covering the center tube on the open end with my finger and sucking the air out the bottom of the cart.

Works, but seems high maintenance to keep it flowing, whereas the Hercules SR-74 I have just keeps on going and going and going (though it is much rougher on the batteries).

Still, the EO cartridge system is great for maintaining a "library" of flavor from which to sip from time to time. It seems it stores forever, and I keep them in a humidity-controlled environment, so I'm not worried about finding hair growing out the end one day :tinfoil:

Honestly if you want to use the crappy carts you have to use Tetralabs Puregold. It's expensive, it's hard to load but it's the only thing that works well in those carts.

I've had 3 carts leak on me despite not using and storing in in upright position. Luckily I had it in a plastic case but I'd be careful with storing them for long periods of time unless you put it in the freezer possibly.

How long does it take you to kill a bowl in the bender? I've seen videos online but no one has shown me that it doesn't combust.

Also I fear glass so I never bought one.

Currently using this bad boy until rebuild kits come out. Holds .4 herb at a time

Do you remember when I told you the old carts taste bad and I threw out my included carts with my last v1 persei kit? I even told ya how to ID the newer style cartridge that tastes better. The answer to your next question has already been posted by me: you need to learn to use eo carts at 2.4 ohm and 3.7v before trying to jump into 5 ohm at 7.4 v. You need to learn to keep the cart happy.

The herc isnt anything like the eo cart other than they both have 601 threads. A whole different world of flavor and vapor production.
the really really old carts don't taste as nice as the newer carts that have red "Caution Hot" printed opposite the resistance printed in black. The last V1 persei kit I picked up I just threw the included carts out rather than fill them with expensive oil.

I vaped 2 loads this morning. I was going big though. I haven't weighed the loads but it holds ALOT. Maybe about a fatty worth. (1.g)If I want to run smaller loads , I stack a couple of Stainless steel washers over the base of the Hammer rod. This raises the chamber so that a small load can be used without heating the whole chamber (it can run away and combust otherwise). How long it lasts depends on preference and technique. Make no mistake, it will combust. The Hammer rod will heat up to 1200F. It is all about the button technique. The Bender IMO is not for out-and-about use. But the flavor is like a fine wine.

Please tell me the herc tastes better than the EO carts? I still get a very metallicy taste most times I use the EO cart. Even pulsing it so short I get very little visible vapor. Pretty much the only way to avoid that so far is blow INTO the cart while pulsing the heat, almost as if lowering the oil lower into the cart, THEN inhaling after. This seems wasteful.

I'll be completely honest, the metallic taste never went away in my original EO carts except for one, and no method of oxidation or pulsing changed that. Also, a lot of the burnt/metallic taste can be due to overheating the seals inside of the cart or the wick not being properly primed (another issue I had with the original carts). With the Herc, you won't have any of these problems and will encounter the best taste you've ever had.

There's an ignore list for exactly this situation, it's totally not worth dealing with on the internet.

Perhaps, but personally I find the taste of Puregold unappealing, and very leaky in those cartridges. I don't have leak issues with stable shatters and they keep well, preserving the flavors. I don't keep much behind after running a few grams through a cart, but there's no reason to toss it out when another flavor becomes your stape.

When I have 12-15 cartridges of flavors on demand for a few sips, it strikes me as better than the monotony of a single lemony taste. To each their own, as I certainly wouldn't call what works for someone else.. wrong..

I have a tag-team of Solo's that have left my Pax on the shelf for all but the most stealth-requiring applications, but it's not totally out of my rotation. Personal preference for compromising between taste, stealth and versatility determines what I walk out with on a given day.

The Pax is, however, the most asked about in public by the fairer sex in my experience, so that could possibly weigh into your preference as well

My brother has a solo and had the O-ring break and he had to mill off the threading and use some sort of cord to hold it together. My other buddy had his stems break about 3 times and meanwhile I laughed with my unbreakable Pax.

The Pax hits like a truck, and holds .4 while the solo holds .2. I have a tequnique where I heat it to green, take a hit to not waste any THC, I then pack it while it's hot with the magetic top, rotate the top and start her up. Kills bowls in 2 minutes easy with Herc sized clouds and no scooby snacks.

I find the auto shutoff feature on the solo annoying as well :/

Honestly if you want to use the crappy carts you have to use Tetralabs Puregold. It's expensive, it's hard to load but it's the only thing that works well in those carts.

It's actually the opposite. Using Tetra Lab's Pure Gold was actually one of the biggest problems among Persei and Omicron users due to the constant leaking in the original carts. It was so much of a problem that @THC SCIENTIFIC dedicated a ton of time and research in an attempt to develop a solution, a cart which was to be named the 1701. After tons of effort, G scrapped the project saying that it simply wouldn't work efficiently and the name 1701 now applies to a new and unrelated product of UP Tech's.

Do you you anything about the iris?

The Iris was a variable voltage top for the Persei with an LCD display. It also functioned as an ohm meter. The original was awesome but there were some issues with it delivering full power for a few seconds at 7.4v when you powered it off. The v2 will have improvements but there still isn't a set release date.
