I'm positive it wasn't. The thing looked like a black Omicron, with a ladybug sticker and a pressure sensor instead of a button as well as a red light that was strong enough to be seen through the finger on a camera.

I say it looked like an Omicron because of the form factor. As the Persei uses a fat battery and is hence fatter.

Oh, that was mine. 'Twas actually a new prototype touch button Persei top. The red color may or may not be present in final version, as I was told the final version will have a blue light (red will still be there, but to indicate a short...I believe). Pictures can be deceiving as it was the standard Persei size... bigger than an omicron.

@THC SCIENTIFIC, any plans for a touch button omicron top in the future?

@THC SCIENTIFIC is it possible to buy a bottom adapter for the sr71 to be able to use with the nibbler xl?

We don't have them at all.

In the future yes.

@Hedonismbot I have to take care of this on Monday.

10 wicks I think and 2 insulators will be included.

May I ask which batteries are you using? Which version of the Herc? And how much is being loaded?

As for oil in the bottom can this is because it's not being cooled down or your pressing the button and not inhaling.

AW 18650. 3.7. Im using the sr-74x. It could be due to the fact that I'm only using 3.7v but I can't try out the 7.4 since I overcharged my batteries and now I'm afraid to use them. I do often hold the button without inhaling but that's just because I get no vapor until its been heated up all the way

are you using the black rod? or white rod with the 18650 3.7v?

and what is the battery voltage of the overcharged batteries? and how did you come to the conclusion the batteries are over charged?.

If your hercules has the standard white rod that's why it's. Having problems the white rod is meant to be run by 2x AW18350's resulting in a 7.4v high drain setup

Loving my persei's and the EO cart. Also loving the minicron lite, though it is much bigger than my smaller similar style pen with TI cart from the head shop. Its higher quality and stronger than the headshop one for sure, just bigger.

The EO cart works really well for me. Not the cleanest of all tasting vapes but I loaded around .7-.8 in the cart and used it (5 OHM) with the 7.4v like the manual said. Now my question is what happens if I use the 3.7v with those 5 ohm EO carts? Not trying anything I'm not sure of lol.

So now my brand new charger charged my old AW 18350s fine.

I put my new from the persei box non AW 18350s in the charger and left. Came back later and saw that the charging light was flashing. I'm too color blind to tell when they are green or red. I can just tell when its brighter = charging dull = charged so IDK what color it was flashing. Pulled it out of the wall and the 2 metal prongs that go into the outlet were fairly hot. IDK what thats all about... I don't have money to buy a fancy charger for a few weeks since I just ordered an SR74, but I'm obviously not using that one again if its dangerous at all. So any ideas what was up with the charger? I'll try it again while monitoring it with the AW's first and see if anything happens whenever I need to charge them. If it works I'll try these same brand new batteries again while also monitoring it next time.

So with my SS kit I now actually have quite the collection. Red persei single top, black persei with red dual top, and a SS kit with a black dual top. Not the bad collection for a beginner to W9.

It won't work. What are you trying to accomplish by doing that?

I'll come out and say it, the stock charger that comes with the Persei is kind of crappy. Overheating is not something you want to do to batteries. You said you were using non-AW batteries. Which brand and type?

I wasn't trying anything just curious. For all I know it'll give slow flavorful hits haha. Just curious!

The non aws are whatever came packaged with the brand new persei v1. They are 18350s

Does anyone have a link to the nitecore charger I hear suggested? I'll try to budget for it.

There are several option for Nitecore chargers. Try searching "Nitecore charger" on amazon. Or if you are really adventurous search, dhgate.

I just bought one of these a few weeks ago for $40 and I love it. I bought it because my analog nitecore broke. This one is much nicer- not just the display. The springs are smoother and the whole thing is easier to use, plus you get a voltage check.

@darkrom i would highly suggest starting with the 2.4Ω carts @ 3.7V, then trying out 1.5Ω, before moving on to the 7.4v and 5Ω carts. I would bet dollars to donuts that you've cooked the oil in the cart and that's why you're experiencing bad flavor. You have to be very careful with pulsing the power button with the 7.4V EO carts. Especially with fresh batteries that's about 8.4V.

With 2.4Ω carts you can hold the button for quite a while with a light draw and get great tasty light hits. The 1.5 I used to pulse for about 2 or 3 seconds on/off. The 5 ohm I tapped very gently to avoid burning the oil. I still prefer the 3.7V carts for ease of use, as long as you are inhaling lightly.

The nitecore chargers are good. I have a dual bay for travel.

This is what @THC SCIENTIFIC recommended as the best 4 bay charger to me, and it's quite the unit. I am constantly using it, charging all my NiMH AA's and AAA's i use in everything, used to charge my MFLB batteries in it side by side with all my AW IMR's for my UP Tech gear. WOW!

Ive only had my sr71 for ten minutes and I am blown away! Im definitely glad I bought this one! Ive only put half gram in it so far, but from the get go it was way easier than the sr74 from loading thanks to the top cap, to taking fat rips! Definite difference between both I find the 71 heats quicker.. Maybe hotter not sure? Either way both kick ass, but i may find myself leaning more towards the sr 71 now. Thanks @THC SCIENTIFIC cant wait to see what ever else you have instore for us!

The SR71 is badass!!! Beast for sure. The SR71 seems to produce more heat than the sr74 rod when u let go of the power button. For this reason I recommend you do a few more cool down hits on the sr71. Unless you don't mind cleaning your bottom chamber often. SR71 is a power house for sure. Btw you received your stainless steel top caps? I found none in my kits :(. Did u get a ti coil?

Yeah! I noticed that too, I like that i don't have to hold the button so long to get it hot! I haven't had a problem with reclaim in the bottom chamber..yet but beast haha. Yea i received both :\, sorry to hear you didn't get yours i hope that you do though, couldn't imagine if i didn't get mine!

Thanks. If I cooked any oil it would be on the first hit only IMO. I seriously hold it down for less than a second while hitting it and continuing the hit after. I'm used to most vapes out there so I am definitely capable of pulsing it lightly, though I would like the other carts more I'm sure. The V1 package came with 2 of these though, so now that I learn how to control the hits pretty well I can keep at it. Will cooking it on the first hit mean all .7g or so will taste nasty now? Thats quite a bit of oil for me. Usually lasts a couple of weeks for .7 lol.

Also, how do you know when an EO cart is nearly empty?

Enjoy the SR-71 weapon my good sir!! I definitely prefer the SR71 to the SR74. I think that's because I prefer POWER! A machine for the experienced operator the SR71 is. Hopefully I get my missing caps and at least one coil.

This saddens me slightly.

Did it have a battery indicator? Did the iris feature a battery indicator?

You take your cell phone, use the light feature and turn on your camera.

Use your eyes to look at the phone screen and you should see how much oil you have left. I'd get a kiss cart if I were you though, far superior to the originals in every way,

Smaller, better taste, see what your using,no smell

How do you look into the cart there is that plate in the way?

I have one KISS cart already. It definitely has better flavor. I also want something to load multiple days worth of oil at once. Weeks ideally with how little I use at once. I have a sr74 on the way soon.

Great Scott!
Please tell me the herc tastes better than the EO carts? I still get a very metallicy taste most times I use the EO cart. Even pulsing it so short I get very little visible vapor. Pretty much the only way to avoid that so far is blow INTO the cart while pulsing the heat, almost as if lowering the oil lower into the cart, THEN inhaling after. This seems wasteful.

Also if I finished even half of my 0.75+ cart in 2 days, I'm definitely not using these 5 ohm carts again. I usually stretch a gram to last weeks between my KISS style carts and the nail of course.

Any suggestions to improve the flavor without blowing the oil deeper into the cart each hit? How is efficiency for you guys with these carts? I wish the pack came with a 3.7v EO cart to try vs 2 of the same 5 ohm 7.4v setup for variety.

I'd imagine the SR74 I ordered will taste better, hopefully by a lot. To be 100% frank these EO carts taste the same as the shitty gentlemans V2 cart so far, but the w9 ones were easier to load and much more powerful to produce a hit, but its still a very bad tasting hit to me. So much so that I wish I could have retrieved the oil out of it. Part of the problem is that you have to heat the oil to load it, but that won't produce a metal taste, just a slight loss of terps if you don't overheat to load. Its very powerful and useful but I just can't get over the flavor. Glad to increase size to herc size if it improves flavor a lot.

Also this charger scares the hell out of me. Brand new right out of the box and now it flashes on both the AW's I had before, and the brand new 18350s in the persei kit. I want to replace it soon, but I've just dropped a ton of cash for this setup and can't even charge it anymore :/ Either set of batteries goes in and it starts flashing the LED. No idea what that means but it doesn't seem right. So now my perseis have to sit unused until I can order a new aftermarket charger. Not the best start really.

Hopefully the herc is worth it after all this effort. The KISS cart is great however. Nothing bad to say about it. Rips through oil quickly, but thats alright since it gives good flavor and no issues at all.

So while I'm completely blown away with all the custom options etc, and the perseis feel solid, this charger effectively has me DOA for now until I can invest even more into it. That and this will probably be the last EO cart I fill, unless the 3.7v ones are cheap (haven't even looked) and avoid that metallic taste. I really don't know if the EO carts are for me, which is a shame because in function I think they are perfect replacements to the cera. Load it up at home and be good for a couple weeks (if it lasts as long as .75 did in the cera anyway). The difference is the cera tasted GREAT and these EO carts taste like I'm chewing on aluminum foil or something. I'm willing to try the 3.7v if there is a huge difference in flavor, but I might just wait for the herc and be happy with that...

I'm getting there, but slowly. Rocky start but I'm not giving up. Just hate the idea of buying a new charger and wasting more oil testing stuff out. I have no more money to spend on it after this charger. I'll have to post a pic of the PILE of w9 things I have already lol.
