Thank you @StickyShisha and @Mynameismud, i bought it! Thanks for helping me make a decision. Probably would've ended up regretting it, cant wait for the iris v2! Now it looks like i need a couple of ss kits and a hammer (hammer rod included) so i could use both at the same time haha!!

Thanks for this. If I wanted to buy the SR71 and a spare SR74 rod, should I get the black or white rod?

The sr74 black rod is exactly the same as the sr71 black rod. So that doesn't really matter...it's just because the sr74 is not backwards compatible so you wouldn't be able to use the sr71 to on the sr74...

But it's really a hard question to answer really as 74 white vs a black rod as it comes down to preference.
For me personally I was one of the ones who got the hang of the black rod fairly easily. And it so much nicer using it on the SS tube...but don't get me wrong the black rod requires patience and technique and is not for everyone...

So I mainly used the black rod, got an sr74 white rod to try and never really liked it that much... Then I got my hands on an iris and woah! The sr71 white rod and iris became the only thing I used

@THC SCIENTIFIC is it possible to offer the SR-74 rod in the same 1.5ohm resistance as the OG SR-71 rod? That way, people can have the best of the SR-71 (the hot rod) and the SR-74 (the spring loaded design). It would draw just a little less current than the SR-74 black rod @ 3.7V, keeping the spring happy.

working on a hotter SR74 rod. Current SR74 black rods are in the 2.3 ohms +/- .2 ohms so the range is going to be 2.1-2.5.

The new rods we are working on will be 1.9 ohms +/- .2 so the range will be around 1.7-2.1 ohms.

Going from 23 watts to 28 watts.

thinking along that route, if i get a HVD head to put on my Core, he can have the Persei head that is on it now.

ok guys final update on whats going on with the 8. With Minor issues and small changes, we have found one part that is not up to our specs and needs to be redone. This means 8's get shipped out to customers around the 29th of this month.


Once again i do apologize but these things happen.

Where are you buying those 14250 batteries? I still have my old HVD from a few years ago but the 14250 batteries all dim when I use them for trying out the KISS, globe.

The Okeanos upgrades will start shipping with the 8's

The Okeanos kits should be ready end of next week.

Kinda just bummed since I ordered other stuff with it and it's gotten pushed back two months.

The Okeanos full kits are ready and will start being shipped end of next week, the upgrade part have not yet been shipped to us and we are going to ship them with the 8's I do apologize as we are trying to catch up on production. Some parts we are still not able to make just yet and have to rely on outside manufacturers. This is what is holding us back on them. Please understand that we do all our own manufacturing but we are still small and need time to grow. Once that is done we should not have any more issues in the coming future.

USPS sucks. My minicron lite was supposed to be here yesterday. Today's mail has already come too. Tracking info still shows it in CA 3 days ago, no updates since then, and "estimated delivery 9/4/2014. :disgust:

Then my persei kit I ordered from uptech ebay was estimated delivery today, also USPS. Didn't make it, but this one has no tracking.

I know its not your fault W9, but god damn the postal service is one thing I wouldn't mind seeing become obsolete. Send over those W9 delivery drones next time.

Almost, the only issues you might have are the springs, buying extra when we have have them in stock would make your 8/71 basically hassle free.

Along with the heater rod for the 71 and some extra parts just in case you lose them or what not.

Battery tube springs or springs internal to the 8 top cap?

I was thinking about it today.... I haven't bought a new hashpipe for about a full year, and that one is a backup Persei that I have barely used. I used to constantly buy new vapes searching for something that wasn't crap. Every time my herc starts to act up and I spend about 5 minutes max to return it to like new operation, I always think, "I love this goddamn thing".
