Hey guys. Quick question. The Hercules sr-74 starts to taste like burnt material/metallic even with new wax added in. I have a feeling that I need to clean out the bottom chamber of reclaim. But then is that reclaim any good to cape again? Also what method would be the best to reclaim it?

Burnt = material quality and build up, easily fixed by cleaning and or using higher quality. Even when using higher quality it needs to be cleaned.

As for the Metallic taste its the first time im hearing about this. As @DieHard said it could be its empty.

dam really

i thought the hercules was supposed to be top of the line...and it tastes like metal?? wtf, the exact reason i dumped the omicron and the omicron carts, and the dabbler ect...

not good news...i was hoping for a piece of equipment that was advertised as medical grade ect...

good thing i bought from a place with a return policy

The Hercules uses high grade stainless steel for its construction. Please take into consideration that there are many factors that can cause this to happen. 1 being its empty, 2 every persons taste buds are different, 3 oil quality and source unknown, 4 not being reported by super majority of users.

Two possibilities if your Herc is tasting metallic. First possibility is that the coil has moved up in the chamber. Try pushing it down with a toothpick. Make sure that the rod is sticking out of the top of the coil.
The other possibility is that it is HUNGRY for more of your oil!
This man is speaking wisdom. Listen to his soulutions. You only get that burnt taste for the reasons @DieHard mentioned. Or you are holding the button too much.

Trust me, the metallic/burnt taste with the Herc is a rarity and the cause is usually the titanium coil sliding up the cart a bit. Before you put your coil in the Herc, squish it between two coins. It will widen the coil just enough so that it will stop sliding. Other time you may get that taste is when the cart is just about empty or ready for a cleaning, which is also a quick and simple fix. The Herc is definitely the best oil cart out, hands down.

The bender is designed for herbs...with the Hercules sr74 it was more of an after thought...it'll work but not great and I wouldn't recommend the herc as your only herb option...

I would definitely recommend the hammer top for the bender, but I think you may be confused. The hammer top is not a vaporizer or power supply it is only a top for the Persei that has an on/of feature so you don't have to hold the button the whole time... So you will need both the hammer top and a Persei for the bender

@Mynameismud, you're saying that you need the a Hammer AND the Bender? I'm confused because the item list for the Bender says that it includes a Hammer rod.

I had the bender once upon a time. It worked and tasted great, but IMO it was a ton of weed. Like a gram at a time.

I am way more interested in W9 products as oil products, and I keep a dedicated herb vaporizer (the firefly) for my herb vaping needs.

@darkrom, is it your opinion that the Bender wastes material, or is it just that it wants you to load more than you would care to?

Thanks!

The Hammer top is a Top with click on/off functionality. it is not required, you just have to hold the button down a while if you're using a standard Persei top. The Hammer Rod that comes with the Bender will work on any persei top. The Bender has a fairly large chamber that must be filled for proper operation, AFAIK. The Bender is a delicate, glass, non portable unit that being a user-controlled heating device, takes a bit of time to learn to use, isn't "easy", and is not my daily driver or go to vape 5 days outta the week, I don't often share it with friends.

Its the herb vape I grab when I smell a strain that makes my eyes go wide- a flavor i want to fully enjoy... Its what use when I want to have a long relaxing session on a weekend and really appreciate some tasty treats. It can produce amazing flavor and/or thick vapor depending on how it's used. I've been experimenting with sandwiching a few pieces of dry sift-press hash and/or and bubble hash in with my herb and it's pretty freaking sweet. The Bender may not be for everyone, but it's most certainly for me

Hi, how does KISS carts handle less than pure oil? ie: bho/concentrates that would clog the old carts. Is there more maintenance involved when using such quality of concentrates? Do the carts store fine in any position or is it suggested to leave them upright? Thank you for any help.

This is how I feel about the bender. Not a good daily driver at all IMO. More like a special treat when you can vape the better part of a gram at once. Amazing flavor and clean, but not very portable at all.

Thanks, guys. So the basic message is to stick with my current vapes for herb and use the Persei for concentrates? Guess I can live with that...I was just hoping to find another all-purpose device. So far (until the Vapman concentrate tray comes out), it looks like the PnP is still the all-purpose device. Stealth is high priority for me, so some of the go to devices just won't work out (I'd love an exotic wood eNano but it just ain't in the cards).

Any opinions on the Okeanos?

I really wish I had the money for an Okeanos. It looks right up my alley. I am STRONGLY in favor of water filtering. If I looked into it better I'd have ordered one of those instead of the minicron lite lol.

I've been using medical quality. Straight from a dispensary. I will give it a good boil and not even worry about reclaim. Could the coil need replacement or perhaps the rod? Because the ceramic acts as a resistor creating heat if I'm not mistaken and continuous usage could've altered it somehow? I'm
Using the 7.4v rod.

To everyone who thinks the herc isn't quality is wrong. This is the best tank I've ever used. The problem just came by after 4 months of heavy use. Thats far outweighs a G pen lol. I'm still learning to be efficient with it. But I doubt any tank tops this for discreetness, vapor production, and load capabilities. And since I am relatively new at using this I could have incorrectly used it resulting in the burnt taste/metallic taste.

burnt taste once again is residue in the coils.

Do you have Titanium Grade 2 coils? if yes whens the last time you torched it clean?

Also is there any dark spots on the ceramic rod? when was the last time you torched that clean?

So what exactly is the KISS core? Has that been revealed?

Still debating on the Name

1701 or Kiss Core.

Leaning towards the 1701 because of a distinct connection.

100 pcs will be available to us in 2-3 weeks and only 90 of them will be available to FC members to give us feed back on it.

I've never been a fan of all-purpose devices; they never seem to do as good of a job as a dedicated device. I kind of view the Persei as a power supply, and the Herc as a device, the Bender as a device. I think the Bender is a freaking awesome vape for the flavor conscious. "Bending" is my version of puffing a cigar in an armchair. It's luxurious and relaxing.

Bender has limited applications. It is an all glass air path over a ceramic heater, the ultimate in taste that I've experienced; but it's glass; you wouldn't want to put it in your pocket, when assembled on the Persei it's rather large, flashy. Not remotely discreet or stealth. "Best" is such a subjective term as different people place different priorities on different qualities.

Have you really used the Herc heavily for 4 months without needing to clean the reclaim chamber at all or maintain the top chamber? That's pretty awesome, better than me. The bottom reclaim chamber you can just wipe off, scoop off, however you want. I use a little Oil Slick Duo pad to wipe down most of the parts and a dabber to wipe the inner walls of the chamber and the gold center post, and I stick all that stuff straight back into the top chamber! I use an iso soaked Q tip to wipe the threads and reassemble. When it gets actually fairly dirty then I boil the parts.

Top chamber is easy to clean just soak anything super oily in iso alcohol, then boil all metal parts in distilled water. Except the Ti coils, hold the coil with a titanium dabber and torch all residue off. When you reassemble the Herc all nice and clean, leave the ptfe sleeve off, and coil out, and hold the button until that rod glows red hot. This will clean off the black residue off the rod. When it cools down put your squished Ti coil back in, load your .3-4 priming load and melt it in. A saturated coil that is sitting where it should be (all the way down) should deliver awesome vapor and have no metallic taste at all.

i cant wait for this new kiss cart. I have burnt out a few 7.4 kiss carts that i am going to try and rebuild. I like the 3.7 kiss cause it is a little more forgiving. I Know this was asked once before but is there a possibility u could get a spare nut for the herc so that i could buy another rod and have almost another whole setup without actually buying a whole new herc? And it would be nice if w9 also sold the little collar for the persei or design the core adapter to not need one like the ss kits.

I like 1701
haha and if there is a line 8th
