Wow really, I notice a huge difference between 4 hole and turbo, but then again my turbo is different from PV's (larger bore). I just find the draw resistance on the 4 hole impossible to enjoy, and this goes for the E-nano all glass (4 hole) as well. No problem dry stem though, go figure.

The high efficiency mod involves grooves down the side that let more air past the seal and stem and stem and cup and the notches on the lip that allow easier flow across the bottom. No slits I know of. The only slits I know of are in the top cap.

The notches address the 'I have to tip/lift the stem to get the flow I want' guys. In this area the stock stem performs basically the same (when tipped or lifted) as the PVHES.

The grooves benefit at the seal goes away as the seal wears in (that is the seal leaks more). This was a minor air path anyway, most comes in through the furnace body, under the cover and over the top of the cup. You can see a gap between the seal and the cup? That's where. The cup is loose enough anyway that the grooves really contribute very little there.

So, yes restriction is reduced. But that improvement is smaller once the owner learns to use the stem seating to control the effect (no control with PVHES, it's always 'full blast') and as the Solo 'runs in' and the seal loosens up some. The net effect is many of us have gone back to stock stems for routine use, and only use the custom ones for GonG fittings to WTs.

Remember when addressing such issues as draw restriction you only get effect from problem areas and once you make a certain level of improvement, that's it. The problem restriction simply shifts to the next spot. Diminishing returns.

I think every owner interested should get one and try it out for himself, it may 'fit his pistol'. But over time I think that is subject to change?

Finally - You said what I wasn't able to -thanx -- > about 6 months ago I finally perfected using your MO regarding lifting & pressure - so easy to adjust even as I toke!
Now I just bought a new SOLO - lovin' the improvements, and the virgin tightness of a tight-fitting glass elbow stem/o-ring makes me feel happy about spending the $200 Cndn. since my old one was suffering from oopsydropsy & I would stress if I didn't have a back-up!

I just picked up a new Arizer Solo and a water tube. I now need a gong but not sure that I need one that is high efficiency with slits at the tip or one with no slits? The new 2014 Solos are supposed to have better airflow is why I ask... Thanks.

This is more of a question of slits or no slits. I am ok with the 4 hole design but was more concerned with high efficacy vs non high efficiency.

The high efficacy one is way better and worth the huge price tag.... But what really sucks is they are constantly out of stock...

I will buy GonG's however imagine a water pipe not a little worthless piece of glass.
@VaPeD&CoNfUsEd will make my master piece when he's ready!
However your so correct in having a Gong made by him.
My medication area looks like a smoke shop!
I have to cool it!
May I ask? - curiosity killed the cat! - You say your "medication area looks like a smoke shop"; does that mean that you smoke only or do you ingest as well? If you do not ingest for medical, why not?

I use cannabinoid therapy as medicine and diet supplement via daily ingestion of RSO & MedCanna edibles; I also vaporize because it combats my COPD, but I feel/understand/think that smoke/vape in itself is not medical but recreational. Please don't misunderstand - I love getting stoned and I miss not being able to enjoy a big spliff or some dino toke of my hash in an ice-bong; my point is that here in Ontario most people, including MedCanna licensees, think smoking is medicine - I'm not criticizing anyone smoking - only curious about your meaning! We all deserve to get high if we wish, as long as it is good. There are health benefits from smoking, for sure - simply smoking a lot will counter early-onset symptoms of Alzheimer's and block it's advance; it offers protection against lung cancer; it boosts immunity to colds & flu, ;) :leaf: but it's not real medicine!

PS - Perhaps there is a better place to open this topic?

I am a legal medical patient.
I have sca!
Believe me I thought I would be surfing until I was 90!
My whole life I was in great shape and ate very healthly.
Never excessively drank.
In the 70's smoked joints. However I did well in school and career.
To get ataxia blew my mind?
The doctors gave me all kinds of drugs?
To sleep, stay awake, depression, restlessness.
For 3 decades I was cannabis free.
Why?
Because I thought I would be a loser!
I left a career at the top of my game.
When I retired I got medical license.
I was shocked on how much better I felt?
I first tried different vaporizers however the SOLO for a portable was easy to operate and the flavor was bearable.
Smoking joints was not an option.
My wife as never tried Cannabis and blessed my approach as long as I didn't combust.
well I could not light up without coughing anyway.
vaporizing was more civilized in her eyes.
medically I quit all drugs and medicate with cannabis a holistic healthier way to manage my illness.
sure it may seem like I'm goofing off!
just trying to keep positive.
Cannabis has been wrongfully demonized the world over.

BARS ARE LEGAL?

Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL!

Recreational or Medical we should all vaporize to be healthier!
I will pm you a photo of my medication area!
It's under a major remodel.
When it's finished you can be the first to see it if you want?

Your wife is a Hero! Abiding empathy for others while maintaining her own standards while looking you in the eye is all one could hope for!

I am blessed to be married to such a woman in a very similar arrangement, and this reminds me to celebrate our relationship.
Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL!
The Solo has proven itself to be a great day-to-day tool for maintaining order in the home. With a small can/filter setup in the corner of my office, everything is kept Orderly ;)

Celebrate the plant! Celebrate the ones you love! Celebrate life!

(I had a rather lovely time this holiday weekend at the Gorge with my wife, bringing a Solo along while meeting with friends old and new and enjoying the hell out of the music... I'm feeling postive :peace:)

This confuses me because you're using the medical benefits of cannabis to help with your COPD but you don't think it's a medicine? I have had chronic pain all my life due to a genetic illness and it just seems bizarre to think that it's not medicine. I stopped taking some medications and cut others in half with a little bit of herb, and it helps with my pain and nausea. How's that not real medicine? I can get high on the painkillers I'm prescribed but that doesn't mean it's not medicine?

Have you tried the CBD drops?
I bought a 1/2 ounce to see if I like it?
Before bed 3 nights in a row I slept really well! (only 4 drops under my tongue)
I ordered a 1 ounce for back up.
During the day I vaporize however before bed these drops work amazing?

Thanks guys. It looks like I'm going to scrape some off and mix it with some herb. Should I not have the resin touch the metal or does it not matter?

My Solo rattles if I shake it. I think it's little bits of weed that've fallen through the holes in the heating chamber? Is that okay?

If I hold the buttons down gently (not pushing them in just holding them still) it still rattles. The Solo works just fine though so it's not a problem, I'm just curious. Sadly I'm dry right now and will be for a few days. :[
