Hey @exit: So regarding the new Kathy recycler,

I love mine. Huge steal for 30 bucks. The chamber vortexes a little bit, and I expect I'll get it to perform better with practice (this is my first recycler) but the percolation in the main chamber is something else! It doesn't so much percolate as it slaps the vapor around, giving it a real drubbing. I know over percolation is supposed to kill flavor but it doesn't seem to in the least. The vapor tastes quite good and you get this spectacular, almost violent water show right before your eyes. It's quite loud, btw, especially when clearing it and I have gotten some water in my mouth as well, so clearly water level is of utmost importance. But all in all this piece rocks! The glass is much thicker than the spiral perc bubbler

I got from her last month. It's very solid, heavy base, low center of gravity, yet seems quite little and almost cute in person. Pairs exceptionally well with the Davinci Ascent, BTW, a piece I had given up on using with water pipes until now. So for the money I bet you will like it. I am much more impressed with this than with my first Kathy purchase (the spiral bubbler) and this give me hope of getting some nice pieces made out of reasonably substantial glass from China in the future.
I would also appreciate any water level tips from others who recently rec'd the piece. I think I am narrowing it down to about 3/4 inch above the perc but perhaps I am doing it all wrong (first recycler!)
