Hey guys. I haven't been very happy with the taste of the vapor from my MFLB (from Puffitup). It tastes kind of "burned" to me, even after the first draw which leaves my herb pretty green still.

I am using the free grinder that Puffitup ships with just about every order, and am wondering if that is the issue. Just wanted to check before spending $$$ on a decent grinder.

Can you post a pic of a trench to show how well it is grinded? I bought a cromium crusher for $14.95 and a finishing grinder for $25. The fg is now only $22. You don't have to spend anything on a grinder. But you do have to put very fine and dry herb in your MFLB. However you get your herb ground to salt/pepper consistency is your decision. There are lots of ways to crush herb. Your basic grinder WILL NOT give the granular consistency of the finishing grinder so don't waste your money on anything expensive. I do highly recommend the finishing grinder as it gives you PERFECT grinds each and every time. I love it and it makes the mflb work beter. It takes any guessing and uncertainity about your grind out of the vaping process. Some people put buds right into the FG. I have found that pre-grinding in the cromium crusher and then the FG yields much better results. I pick out all stems and only add leaf. If you put buds right into the fg it is hard not to be grinding up stems. I recommend pre grinding to some extent at keast picking out any stemmage. Even with a little $2 cheapo grinder and then the FG you may find like I have that it works best and gives better results.
Bottomline>>>>Your grind should be a consistency between a grain of salt and a grain of pepper. If you aren't putting a dry and finely crushed herb into your trench it will tend to cook and taste bad. Also I recommend the Power adapter. It gives you consistent temperature where the batteries power and temperature fluctuate as the battery power declines. I have found that the PA helps deliver much better results than the batteries. I get much better draws and many more draws with better taste.

Thanks man. Exactly what I was looking for. The freebie grinders that I have leave my herb pretty coarse. I will definitely have to pick up a finishing grinder soon. The PA sounds like a good idea too. If I had that I could finally use the concentrate trays effectively. In hindsight, I should have picked the combo with a decent grinder rather than the trays, but oh well.

I would say you are not getting the herbs to the correct salt/pepper consistency. The cheapo grinder will get you a nice pre grind for your finishing grinder. I like to grind up a bunch in my cromium crusher and then store it in a tightvac/pocketvac. You of course don't need a nice titanium grinder to pre grind. Anything will do. But I do love my cromium crusher at $14.95 it was a deal and I like to just pack it two or three times and grind up two or three fills and save it for the FG. It works really great and I like the kief screen and lower chamber to catch kief. But you don't need it and Your fingers will do plenty if you roll your herb between your fingers and pick out the stems. Then add the stem free herb to your finishing grinder. You are good to go. Amazon had the FG the other day for $22.
I got my PA for $53.99 this week. It is great. I highly recommend it. That is a great price the cheapest I have seen.

You of course don't need a nice titanium grinder to pre grind. Anything will do. But I do love my cromium crusher at $14.95 it wasF says to use 1 fresh battery per trench. I agree. SO what that means is by the time you take your last draw your battery is spent. The batteries work but are not as efficient at producing consistent energy output. The batteries energy output is declining and you have to compensate by drawing slower. This often leads (at least for me)not to combustion but close and to basically over heating a tad and causing the bad taste. My 1-3 draws were excellent flavor but I quickly got a nasty taste. Now with the pa I can get many more draws and all draws with a better taste. It pays for itself in more draws and more efficiently vaping your herbs. No matter what you last draw will not taste like your first draw. The vape produced declines with each draw and the flavor diminishes. BUT!!! you should be able to get it working so you don't have the bad taste. I did. The pa helped me get there. SO happy I got it.

@1flyfisher has summed it up quite well. My favourite tip for "grinding" is to put your buds in a little container with a coin or two and shake for a minute or so.

Concerning the burned taste, have you had combustion in your LB recently? If so, it will take a few trenches for the nasty taste to disappear, but it will go away eventually.

hello with peaceful vibes all around :leaf: it's been a super long time since visiting here but finally made some time tonight to drop in and share a few thoughts regarding one of my most treasured little things in life, my MFLB, though actually it's my 4th MFLB  fell in love the moment the 1st one landed in the mailbox - loved it so much that I immediately purchased another one just in case something happened - and it has quickly become my favorite every day on-the-go tool for lift-off all the day long

the reason I'm sharing tonight is to applaud MFLB's outstanding warranty and amazing customer service - in this full tilt, fast paced world be live in, wow is all I gotta say  their website says - Magic-Flight grants to all purchasers of the Launch Box vaporizer a Lifetime Functional Warranty - and they really mean it [who does this????] - as long as you follow their very easy directions for a replacement, you will receive a brand new one  bravo bravo bravo + the delivery time [1st class mail] was lickety-split both times, as they have now sent a second replacement unit [cherry] and couldn't be more happy :luv:

many thanks to everyone at MFLB for continuing to make such a conscientious product and honestly care about what you're doing - would be willing to bet that noboby else out there honors their "warranty" in quite the same way and provides this kind of exemplary and outstanding customer service :mflb: imho, yours [with NO plastic parts] is THE BEST little vaporizer on the market - keep up the GREAT work MFLB peeps!

:peace: love

I have a favored method of using the Box. It works far better than anything I've tried, but I am concerned that it might not be the healthiest. I could use some advice.
here's how it works. It's basically a 20 oz sports drink bottle with the bottom cut off and a hole in the lid just big enough for the stem. I tape a produce bag on the bottom of the bottle and suck through the top of the bottle so that the bag comes inside of it to form a vaccuum when I pull on the bottom of the produce bag with a long piece of folded tape. The ability to use my hands to fine tune the vapor thickness instead of modifying my breath is wonderful. I tend to get feelings of anxiety when I change my breathing patterns. Also, being able to look at the vapor density as I pull, makes it so that I can get just the right thickness that I want and avoid over-toasting the trench as much as I normally do.
This is the most efficient and easy way to use the vape, to me. I tend to get dry lung easily when hitting from the box, stem, and whip.

I think that the melting point of the plastic produce bag and the bottle are not likely low enough for the temperature ranges of the vapor. However, I wonder if I might be wrong and whether I should be creating a new type of device. Ideally I would be using acrylic, like a steam roller, but I don't know if there are volcano-quality bags out there the size I need. The other issue is flexibility, the produce bags create a really nice vaccuum, when i pull the 'string' to fill the bottle, and they mold to the inside of the bottle so that there's very little missed vapor on the inhale.

@magicflight: If a product made of acrylic and volcano quality bags with the MFLB logo on it was offered. I think it would be not only a profitable opportunity for you, but also a very good device for the customers.
This is better than any bubbler, whip, or air pump method I've tried.
Being able to serve up your friends with bottles of vapor is pretty damn sweet. No need to worry about teaching, but if you feel like letting them do it, it's very easy for them to see the vapor and learn the feel of vaporizing without that bit of stress that breath control can add.
Personally, I love not having to alter the nature of my breathing while I "pull" a bag. There's no more efficient way to use the vape either, IMO.
As for stealth, I can have my bottle and Box near my lap while I pull a bag and then use a straw on top of the stem for extra stealth. This can be as inconspicuous as having the box in your fist, for certain situations.

Anyway, I was just wondering if any folks had ideas of better materials and I wanted to share my favored method of vaping. I had seen and ignored posts about it a couple times before I tried it, and kicked myself for doing so.
I absolutely love it, but am wondering if I should have health concerns about the materials.

Glass Blower
You could use a glass bottle (there's demos of getting the bottom off on 'the tube') and a volcano bag. Turkey roasting bags are pretty high temp and probably cheaper if you're hard up.

Have you tried a bubbler or bong? If you get the right piece (orbiter??) you can visually see the vapour which gives great visual feedback and allows you to modify your breath more easily. If I use the mflb with friends for the first time I always crack the bong out.

got a WPA and a rig, life is complete. It hits super well and is like the perfect size.

I just ordered the concentrate tray's for this MFLB. Hey if you are thinking about getting them I know how you can get them for close to free for only $.50. If you have never shopped on Rakuten and you sign up you get a $10 discount. Also they give you $5-10 discounts and Rakuten points which you can accumulate. I just used some Rakuten points from my MFLB purchase and they gave me 500 Rakuten points which took $5 off my order. They have discounts for holidays and often offer 10-20% off site wide like right now 10% off site wide for Labor Day. I had some problems with them as they put up discount ads on the site and it didn't work when I clicked on it. I ordered an Atmos RX and refused delivery and it took a while to get my credit card refunded and I had to contact them but I got it squared away. I ordered my MFLB from here and my Power Adapter from vapor Seller who have it for $53.99 to your door. These two sites Vapoer Seller and Rakuten have good MF deals.

This is the cheapest price I have found on the trays.

Holy hell!!! I just recieved a badass walnut MFLB package in a trade I did with a member here. It runs WAY hotter than my original MFLB. Im talking about blowing clouds with EASE and hitting it at a much faster pace than my original. Im really really impressed right now. Blown away literally. I also recieved a power adapter kit with it as well but have yet to try it out!

The power adapter alone makes a huge difference its like brand new glyph batteries fresh off the charger with a brand new mflb:rockon:. Now with the finishing grinder you're set, this little vaporizer CAN blow clouds if used properly(for those who doubt)with good meds of course :ko::p. Hope you enjoy your entire MFLB set up it is a tough one to beat:luv:

Is the finishing grinder worth it ?
I have a 4 pc space case and it is horrible
The magic flight nano grinder is ok

use the finishing grinder as a secondary grinder. You'll end up chucking the finishing grinder in the trash if you try to put a whole nugget in there and expect it to work perfectly.

I like to pregrind my herbs and leave on a dish for a few hours to dry out then I will run through the finishing grinder.

What is this a bong attachment? What does it do exactly?

This is not a cloud blower. MF even says that to do it correctly you won't be getting huge clouds or even any visible vapor. When I pack a fresh trench those first 3 hits are very tasty fresh bud like flavor cloudy vapes. then after that it tapers off almost completely by the 4th and remaining draws. that's how it's been for me. I would not recommend this to someone that wants to blow clouds. Me I could give a fuck about clouds as long as I get medicated.

I am not exactly familiar with a space case I thought the were good grinders. But your basic 2-3-4 piece grinder with the metal teeth will not get the grind fine enough for the MFLB. My cromium crusher grinds it to perfect joint rolling consistency and what I consider the perfect grind for smoking but not for the LB.
Pre grind with your space case and then finishing grind with the MF FG. That's what I do. I just pre grind a bunch into a tightvac/pocketvac which is a nice little odor free container for $5.99.

CHeck Amazon for the finishing grinder. They have the lowest price. I got mine for $25 and last I saw they were now only $22. So worth it. Finishing grinder and power adapter are must haves. You can grind with a plastic pill contaoner and a nickle but the FG is sweet.

Some folks put buds directly into the FG. I tried it. I don't recommend doing that either. I pre grind. I get rid of all the stems. Even after picking out all 99% of all the stems, when I grind with the FG I always get little tiny stem pieces remaining and I do not want to grind them any further and vape them so I always dump a little of the stem bits and pieces into my abv. I am expecting a very potent abv oil. So a little kief and grind ends up in my ABV collection along with some tiny stem bits. Gonna get high high high!!!!!!

The MFLB can certainly produce some clouds to blow--especially through water with a PA--if one so desires. But yes, MF didn't design this to be a cloud maker and it's not the best recommendation for someone who wants to chase clouds with every hit.

The water pipe attachment you see appears to be a female-female adapter, I think, to accommodate two male WP ends.

That's a nice looking little piece of glass.

Yeah its a female to female adaptor, and I really like the piece. It has a really wide base and is like the perfect size for the mflb, it definitely makes it more of a heavy hitter along with the PA.
