Discontinued Indica Vaporizer

Did you wipe your unit down with ISO (alcohol)?.

I didn't. It looked very clean. I just used the pipe cleaner down the top and a q-tip in the oven but nothing came off of it. The pipe cleaner and q-tip were clean.

Any chance of posting a video? May help.

I tried to get it on video but it's harder to capture than I thought and my phone camera just didn't work out.

Yeah I am certain @@Tanz has a defective unit, I've experienced several after I busted my flawless original (still miss it dearly...) so what he's describing is something that will be covered and Indica will replace it for him as soon as they are able. Its tough with a new small company, but I'm sure there are people who dont post here that have received defective units, whether they know it or not.

My original unit had no off smell whatsoever out of the box, tasted fantastic from the beginning. As you say, it really is such a small device, so there isn't a high margin for error when assembling them. So that's why the factory workers made so many mistakes, they have now been properly instructed on how to check parts and ensure that they are put together correctly. I also believe they are now using a new type of gasket to ensure the isolation of the vapor path (which is indeed just supposed to be steel to steel, but the QC issues left some gaps, that along with the tape issue were causing the fumes and foul tastes).

Trust me, it will be worth the wait when you get a working one.

I'm sure it's defective too. I really don't want to play a back and forth shipping anymore and hoping the next one is good. Too much cost, waiting and hassle. I think companies should make sure their product is good before taking someone's order (money) and shipping it out.

Here is a pic of the spent herb after using the Solo and the Indica. This is comparing the 2 loads a total of 20 min for each vape. Using the same strain of herb, Gods Gift. I did 2 ten min sessions with each. I use a little more with the Indica. This is with one spacer in the Indica oven.

The temps I used on the Solo was 10 min on 374 degrees and 10 min at 383. For the Indica I did 10 min on 358 and 10 min on 376 degrees. I can't handle the purple at 394 it makes me cough. I tried to replicate the heat but couldn't. I tried to draw the same amount with both. I will be trying to cut the load by using 2 spacers in the Indica. I will share the results.
EDIT:
It's tight using 2 spacers with a packed load. It can be done. With 2 spacers the load is about the same with the Indica and the Solo with my unscientific method. I know the 2 vapes aren't similar, but I've had folks asking me about the amount of herb compared to the Solo. Towards the end of the second session with the smaller load with the Indica the clouds got wispy not much left. This vaporizer is probably more compared to the Ascent.

Ive read in the Firefly thread the battery doesn't last very long. I'm not comparing the Firefly. I don't own one. I'm comparing the Solo. Maybe I am misinformed? I have not been keeping up on that thread lately. Sorry if I misspoke. There were more than one posts about that. I don't know specifically. I lost interest.

I don't think anyone can tell you how many minutes a FF battery will last. It's more to do with the inhalation style, how long you're pushing on the button, etc. It's certainly true the battery life is a weak point, but that's the trade off for an on-demand electric convection portable that can deliver at its flavor point, I suppose.

ANYWAY, just passing through here while keeping tabs on this little Indica fella.

Can't tell you how many minutes it represents, but I get two solid bowls out of each FF battery (I have an extra). Actually is more like 2.5 bowls before temp drops radically. As I recall some claimed up to 4 bowls per charge, but as you said a lot depends on drawing style. However, I hardly ever use it anymore and should probably sell it as I much prefer the Indica (and others).

Nice, but may have been more accurate to run solo at 2 and 3, to compare to 2 and 3 on indica, temp wise. If you cant do the higher temp comparison

Even though these two temps aren't the same. The Solo would have felt relatively low heat on level 2 which would have been 362 degrees. I don't think I can compare heat level 2 on the Solo, and heat level 2 which is 358 degrees on the Indica. The Indica seems hotter to me. I can handle heat level 5 on the Solo, but the Purple which is just a few degrees hotter than the Solo I can't tolerate. Does anybody else notice that?

It could be because of the different style of oven? It could be because of the mouthpiece, the Solo being glass and it being a longer vapor path?

I absolutely think it is the shorter path, and the fact that Solo's path is also glass and open to room air, instead of inside the unit. Similarly the steel oven vs the glass, the glass doesn't retain the heat like the steel, so that's part of why indica has such dark even extraction (though the effects lead me to believe these are still reasonably accurate temps settings), where as the glass cools down a lot more during a hit like in Ascent (without glass flower). Also Solo relies on a fair amount of convection as well, so that's a pretty substantial factor in throat irritation (or lack thereof) I believe. Although personally I found the Solo to be quite irritating to my throat, maybe even moreso than my original Indica...

It's very difficult to compare temps on two totally different devices. I tend to ignore temperature altogether and go by feel (at first) to figure out my own personal sweet spot for any new vaporizer.

Besides the differences pointed out by SS and CK, the temperature at the load of Solo is increasing (by about 50°F iirc) during a hit, while the temperature in the bowl of the Indica is decreasing (due to fresh air entering). This has an effect on ABV differences as well IMO.

I just received my indica that I purchased off of ebay from an individual seller for $149.50. I was skeptical but he came through big time! It was factory sealed and totally legit. I am more than pleased with the unit itself so far. Just did the inaugural session and it was definitely pleasing for my tastes. It was a medium density vapor when I did a half pack with the included spacer on the green temp setting. I am excited to see how it differs from a full packing :ko:

I received the Beta test V2 black Indica about 3 weeks ago. This little gem of a portable vaporizer is packed full of surprises for the user. It comes beautifully packaged in a wooden box. The unit's exterior is a beautiful black powder coated steel that has a sturdy but yet a soft feel to it. I can see this vape being very appealing to women as well as men. It's the most beautiful portable vaporizer in the marketplace IMO. I know the Firefly is beautiful too.

Accessories included:
USB plug
screens
small pipe cleaners
extra magnetic oven door
3 spacers
2 vape picks
brush
Indica carrying bag

I've been using a little spoon to load the Indica or a folded piece of paper works well. Using the little brush thats provided to clean away any bits of herb into the oven. It's easy for stray bits of herb to accumulate around the beveled edge outside of the entrance to the oven. I've been using a fine grind and I use my little spoon to pack down the load. I've tried a loose load, but I find a firm packed load works best. Load size is about .25 gram.

I've been using one spacer in the oven. I have tried going without the spacer but I prefer using one. I have also used 2 spacers and it really cuts down on product. The spacers are a real bonus and a handy tool that gives the user more options.

Heat up time is about 60 sec, I start out at the lowest temp Cyan 340 degrees and quickly move to blue. My favorite temps are the blue 358F then I bump it up to green which is 376F. Two flashes tells you that you've reached your desired temp.

Usually I can get two 10 min sessions per load, depending on the herb I'm using. Didnt feel a need to use the screens that are provided. I haven't had any issues of herb flying up into my mouth. The mouthpiece is very soft and easy to clean, it's easily removed, then very easy to reattach. The mouthpiece is soft and quite pleasant to use. I didn't get the chance to use the first version to compare the ease of draw but I'm very happy with how this unit performs.

In the beginning it takes a few draws before I see clouds they get thicker when I reach heat level blue. then I finish off on green. Heat levels purple 394F and red is 412F seem to be too harsh on my throat.

The outside doesn't seem to get overly hot. The oven door gets hotter than the rest of the unit which only seem natural. The oven door itself seems to be well insulated and it's magnetic that's a good feature. It could be easily lost so an extra one is provided. The oven door has a nice snug fit, I don't need to worry that it could accidentally open at the worst moment.

Cleaning the unit is as easy as running an ISO dampened q-tip throughout the oven and a damp ISO pipe cleaner through the vape path. The mouthpiece is easily cleaned also.

Vapor quality with the Indica is exquisite I would stick my neck out and say on par with the Ascent and that's saying a lot IMO. My ABV is evenly toasted when spent. I don't get a burnt taste towards the end of my session either. Flavor is where it's at with the Indica and you get that big time. Best of all it medicates really well. It's small and portable enough to have it in bed with you or curled up on the sofa listening to music or watching TV.

When my session is over I can use the vape tool or tweezers to remove the spacer, be careful it's hot, but cools off quickly.

I am able to get about 10 ten min sessions per charge. I didn't want to run the battery down to nothing. Red battery level is the lowest and only has 20 percent battery life left. I only go one more session when I get to a red battery signal. It may go longer? It only takes about an hour and a half to charge up to full capacity. I could use it while it's plugged in but haven't tried out that feature.

I think probably the most difficult thing with this vaporizer is loading it, but you'll practice a lot and get the hang of it. Actual use of this unit is very easy. A slow draw works for me. If I stop drawing for more than a minute or so it takes a couple of draws to get back to vapor production. I've stopped this unit after 5 min then started back an hour or two later, with no problems. I've never needed to worry about stirring my herb either.

The Indica is quite stealth, just close the lid, it doesn't look like a vaporizer. We were walking at a park there weren't too many people around. When people would pass by, I just closed the lid. It's very unassuming. It easily fits in your pocket or bag. The black is really an improvement in the stealth department. The black color is not shinny it's a matt finish so it doesn't show fingerprints.

This unit smells least of any of the vaporizers I own. Vitolo was suggesting possibly because of the use of the spacer? I'll have to check that theory out.

The Indica is a wonderful new vaporizer so time will tell how it holds up in the long term. I noticed it was February when this unit was ready for retail sales. The company seems to really care about producing a quality healthy product. Mike genuinely wants this vape to be the best portable out there. I can see this unit only improving over time, I think it's great now. Depending how this vaporizer holds up I think it will be one of the top portables in the market.

Enjoying a little Skywalker OG in the Indica this evening and it tastes wonderful.

Anyone have an idea when those of us who are waiting for a replacement (defective unit) may receive them? I know M. will come thru but its been a while waiting.

I want the black indica 2.0 NOW.:D

After the elimination of t-vape, pinnacle pro and firefly from my "next portable vaporizer list", i read almost the entire topic of this little treasure and i really want it.

i really like that the indica guys interact with the customers and the FCcommunity, the tips from the member and the excellent presence here in the topic with almost 1-2 post for page:clap:

i really REALLY want to buy an indica, even the first version, but after the stu's video i decide of wait until the V2 comes out in october (i sincerely hope).

i also hope that in october i found a more convenient ship method for the europe (italy) because with the tax and stuff the indica cost me like 300 euros:ugh:

a question for the indica people, why you not make available the indica in europe? there is vaposhop that is affiliate with FC or vapefiend.uk (one of the biggest and famous vape seller in EU).

sorry for my poor english.

I see that Vapornations has the Indica available. Email them and find out? I'm not sure their policy and prices regarding shipping to Europe? They are a vendor on this site. Let them know you are an FC member.

This little vape seem to be very well made with high quality materials and a company that strives for perfection. The original units were being tested for quite a while. I see last summer people received the Beta units. The Indica started selling retail in the open market in February 2014. They waited until they knew they had a winner before they started selling them. That's why the company is waiting until October to release the V2 black matt units. They want to know that these vaporizers are ready for prime time.

I'm having some serious trouble with my indica, I've now done two sessions resulting in no vapor production on purple. The unit does heat up and the herb looks pretty cooked when i'm finished but I am feeling nor seeing any other effects. I'm getting a little worried, does anyone know what could be causing this and if or if it is not warrantable? I did purchase it before the re-checking of the inventory in mid July but I don't remember these being symptoms of those faulty units. Thanks

Are these your very first sessions or did it work before? The Indica vapor path does need to be kept clean or you will not get vapor production.

Make sure your herb isn't too wet. Damp herb that hasn't been fully cured won't do well being vaped. It's difficult to get vapor production. It's not like the old days when a pipe would dry it out.

I have been cleaning it religiously with the pipe cleaners and the wire brush and isopropyl consistently.

I have been using it a good amount since i received it on the 25th of july. as I stated above I have been cleaning very well
