The Lotus Vaporizer

Awesome! Happy to hear that feedback!

The lotus is a versatile beast as well. If you want quick small flavorful hits, you can do it for a long enjoyable session. Or you can milk the fucker in one hit with enough vapor to knock an elephant on it's ass. It all comes down to torch control

Just wait until you get the WPA - I couldn't imagine the Lotus without it!

I have read quite a few reports claiming that a portable or a Lotus in particular cannot really compare with a top end desktop... I understand about the different temps, strain, desired effects etc and indeed it should open a new world for someone. What I still don't get is how a Herbalizer or a Cloud or Sublimator can pack a bigger punch than the Lotus when you can also spend a 0.1g of a load in one or two hits with it!
It can hit like my Hot Pod used to hit when I bumped it to full 15Volts. One hit through water or a couple dry and it's done. Huge lung busting clouds! I really can't understand how a Cloud can give you more and why would I spent 500€ on one...
@stickstones? Any input?

EDIT: The absolute biggest hits I have managed though were through my Solo and Vapor Lung at 6-7. When I filled a 3lt VL only a few people could take it all in!!!

I'm not sure what it is exactly, but desktop vapes do pack a bigger punch than portables. Maybe ABV color isn't a fair indicator of true extraction, maybe it has something to do with the delivery - I don't know. But I can say that .15 in my Herbalizer gets me higher and keeps me higher much longer than .15 in my Lotus. And this holds true for every portable vape I've owned.

Yeah, I know colour is not an indicator of a good extraction... I can one hit the Lotus to dark brown or light brown and nothing is left behind. I have tested the ABV in other vapes and there is complete extraction. Nothing more comes out. How can this happen with the bigger desktop punch I cannot understand at all. I mean you can go up to combustion temps easily with the Lotus! I haven't tried a Cloud or a Sub or a Herbie but I really can't see where the difference is if not the high temps and the ability of a vape to keep these temps during a draw. The Lotus definitely excels there as well. Mind boggling!!!

I get higher/faster with the Lotus than with Herbie. Thickness with a quickness, I put Herbie away til I can spend the necessary time. Also, don't recall seeing this here: the iolite screens fit the wpa and the pipe version Lotus. They drop right in, better draw, easier to remove for cleaning. The screen mesh is a bit bigger so you may get some snacks if your blend is dry. Oh yeah, the herbalizer extract pads drop right in the Lotus as well for those that can't wait for the high temp version.

@natural farmer -- I seem to have a different experience than others. I put the lotus in my heavy hitters category. I get monster hits off this thing that can compete with my desktops. The way I hit it, I cache the bowl in one big hit that returns a dark brown abv throughout. This tells me I am hitting it really hot. My friend tried it last week and had good hits with a much cooler hit and tan abv.

The real difference for me is the vaporizing experience. My desktops make it easy to achieve what I want...big, tasty hits. The way I hit it at the moment, the Lotus isn't very tasty, but it can be delicious if you hit it right. I'm confident a jedi level of expertise can yield similar results from the Lotus as any desktop. But when I'm deciding on which vape to use between the EVO, Herbie and the Lotus, the strength of the hit is not something that comes into play...they can all kick my ass! What I do like about the Lotus is it has a smaller bowl than my other vapes in rotation, so when I'm thinking efficiency, I reach for the Lotus to keep my load size in check.

To those experienced, when introducing a friend to the lotus, do you let them drive or do you control the torch for them?

I have taught four people to use the lotus. First I show them, then I let them do it themselves while I talk them through it. They almost always end up lower temp than I do. All four have gotten great hits the first time without combustion and it baffles me, since I have combusted with it and had others combust when teaching them how to use the Vapor Genie. The first one learned on the stock pipe and the other three on bubblers.

What's the best grinder for use with the Lotus?
After reading most of the FC Herb Grinder thread, I bought a 3-piece Santa Cruz Shredder but I don't like it. It's way too coarse for the Lotus in my opinion. No matter what I do (long grind, re-grind, upside down…) I still get too many big chunks.
I see that the Lotus actually sells Mendo Mulcher, I assume it's the same as the 1.75 "Vape Grinder" on the Mendo site?
Is that the best bet for the Lotus?

Thanks!

I've just started playing with the grind for my Lotus, too.

I got used to a fine grind for the MFLB but I'm finding that it's too fine for the Lotus; even with a tighter screen I'm getting fine bits. I thought my 4-piece SCS was too fine. Hmmm.

I found the Lotus standard screens WAY to coarse, even the fine ones they sell still let some material get through. I finally found some really fine 1" screens and made my own. No more floaties in my water pipe and surprisingly it seems to clog up less than the coarser ones.

I've introduced the Lotus to about 7 people. Most got the hand of it after a few bowls. I show them first, and then coach them while they do it.

However, I had 2 people that just can't get vapor, so I torched it for them. After a week or so, one of the persons finally got the hang of it.

I use a Space Case 2 piece. I would say any 2 piece would be good.

You can use 2 standard screens for the same effect.

Mendo Mulcher works for me, but your Shredder should also work if you grind it long enough. Sometimes chunks get caught between the teeth and you have to manually take them out and regrind

OT but: put something in the bottom of your SCS and shake it. A quarter or a nickel will work well. This is a trick to collect kief in a 4-piece, but it also will work to make your grind finer. How fine depends on how much you shake. Try a few shakes, check the grind, and shake more as needed.

For me: Lotus = E-nano > solo. This is level of effect and speed of delivery. Interestingly ABV from both the Lotus and Nano is a lighter shade than from the solo.

Did not see Nepal (or Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal) in shipping options in Vapefiend.

Verdampftnochmal.de does have that option though.

Won't regret it. I also have an extreme q and it hardly ever gets turned on anymore

second this, I much prefer the Lotus to using the EQ, even modded. Part of it might be the challenge of coaxing the perfect hit out of the Lotus. It takes a little bit of practice, but once you hit it right, you won't look back.

Every day I am surprised that my Lotus has taken over as my home unit of choice; paired dry or with a water piece, this cap is a beast!

It has bumped my Plenty and the Hammer off the rotation, and at my apartment only the Nano is getting any additional use. People rave about the efficiency of the Nano, but in my book the Lotus has been the most efficient device I have ever used.

^I'm glad to hear all this. I never loved the EQ. It took way too much effort and investment to work not that well. I'm excited for the on demand heat up that the Lotus provides as well as the portability.
