Vapman

I almost wish I got more than 1 hit out of it as I like having my long sessions, but that's why I'm looking for a desktop unit now.

I suggest looking at Herbal Aire. Large capacity (can hold maybe half a gram easily), very well built, reasonably priced, can blow bags or mate up with a WT out of the box, base unit is glass reinforced nylon, you could probably hammer nails with it. Excellent temperature control. The whips they give you are pretty lame, but that's easily fixed.

Oh I'm not worried, I just haven't seen many people discuss how they use it. It's cool to see other's approach to the vapman. I almost wish I got more than 1 hit out of it as I like having my long sessions, but that's why I'm looking for a desktop unit now.

Haha, I see what you mean. I think I'd be left feeling "empty" if I got only one or two draws in a session.

Maybe you can torch it "lighter" and see if you get more draws and still get good taste and effect?

And yes, this forum is an awesome resource full of very smart and helpful guys and gals. I would have been lost without it.

The VM had been my daily since I got it. My technique is generally 2 x 3 count warm ups, then 4 count bursts with inhales of about 8 count. I always start off gently and then get more aggressive then back to gentle to finish the load. Because I'm using a cheap lighter the flame length varies quite a lot and this helps me counter this issue.

I really can't wait for these concentrate screens....

I tried this morning by turning the flame intensity down on my torch (Vector Stratos if that means anything), increased the cooking time, and the bowl lasted forever. However, the first few hits I'm unsure if I got any vapor and the herb looked uncooked. Once the vape had been reheated a few times, it worked as usual, and was done in 3 hits.

Excellent. It's a bit like wok cooking at one level, you quickly sear the meal. The alternative is roasting the same beef which takes longer and gives a somewhat different result. Both can be excellent eating, of course. As a fried is fond of saying, 'it's all good'.

Choice, choice is good.

Interesting that you were still done in 3 hits after it heated up.

Well, Last night I made my flame longer/hotter and gave it a go.

I was done in about 5 hits! I had to be more careful with my timing since I'm not used to the hotter flame, so on the sixth draw I combusted.

I got the same effect as usual, but faster – which is a good thing!

Next time I'll lower the flame a bit, but leave it hotter than usual and get used to that.

This way, I'll get the same effect in less time.

Like someone posted before: start cooler, then heat it up in the middle, then ease off again. I didn't do this. I stayed hot all the way through...

Tip: If (or when) you combust, you'll know right away because of the smell... DON'T INHALE! Remove the mouthpiece and BLOW out of it immediately to clear out any smoke.

If you inhale, the mouthpiece will absorb the smoke and the stench will stay in it for a while. (Don't ask me how I know this).

Also, clean the bowl immediately so it doesn't stain. But the smell won't stick to the bowl at all.

It's so cool to keep experimenting, right?

Like OF said, Choice is good. It's all good.

I think I was actually getting hits before those final 3 I mentioned, I just couldn't see any vapor after exhaling. So maybe it was a good 7-8 in total. Got me to where I needed to be, though, and it definitely tasted better.

I've only burnt the herb once ... I didn't realize it as I was already medicated, but I held the torch to the plate for 10+ seconds without noticing somehow and inhaled it. I don't think I stopped coughing that day. It was bad hahaha.

Exactly. You don't really get much visible vapor the other way.

You can taste it though.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to express my appreciation for this wonderful vaporizer..

I quit combustion 3 months ago (along with quitting tobacco) and this was my only vaporizer for the first crucial month. I was using it about 3-5 times a day. I also had an mflb but it was just sitting in its box until I gave it away.

After the first month, I got an e-nano for home use so my vapman is only used outdoors now.

I really like the "ritual" it takes, you just have to be a bit concentrated which is something that IMO ads to the satisfaction.

I use many small intervals of heating and I think this way I get better control and consistency between my sessions. I like the first draw to be quite strong so I pre-heat 3 times for 3secs and finally one more time for 4-5secs. I draw for about 8-10 secs and then I continue with small 3sec heating intervals as needed..

I really enjoy every aspect of this little vape, its looks, the flavor, the reliability and so on...
Vapman will be my favorite portable for a long time to come..

Cheers!

Excellent post, nothing more to add...... Thanks.

No doubt about it, we've got the same vape. Very personal, the ritual is part of that.

Hey guys I'm new here but wanted to give my two cents on the vapman. It was the first vape I've ever got ( had it bout a year now ) and holy shiz. It's fabulous. I conserve so much herb witit compared to rolling and even other vapes I have. I prefer thick vapor so I cover a couple of the little air holes and get the perfect vapor that although warm, is tasty and has this wood flavour. Mine is the model without the mica on the bottom so my only booooo is that after a year of almost daily use the bottom is BLACK and hella charred but it functions the same. I have the original vapman lighter with mine but looking to invest in a slightly smaller one, maybe one that's not glass lol so it's easier to transport without worry. So does anyone have any suggestions on decent but small torch lighters? I'm prepared to drop up to $50 if its quality.

I use a Vector Stratos lighter that I got for roughly $30 and it works way better than the one my Vapman came with.

There's a whole threa called 'pocket torch lighters' in another section. Have a look through there for some inspiration.

I'm in a similar situation, I've been using a £3 plastic one which the LHS describe as 'basically disposable' but it seems to be doing ok for the moment (I grabbed two just in case). Would like to invest in a proper one though.

Be sure to let us know which one you decide on.

I either get really light airy hits or I burn the herb, or even combust. I can't figure out what to do with it.

no max....this is not a myth....do you know bic lighters?in my short butane experience sometimes flame fails and i can appreciate a awful butane taste that make me sick....i'm agnostic...i do believe only to my senses!

no hate to butane vapes just too low-grade for me....too crack head....just my :2c:

I'm curious what butane tastes like, since it's colorless and odorless

So I'm looking around for a torch lighter -- all mine have been collecting dust and are kaput -- what do people think of this one?

http://www.bugstores.com/shop/lighters.php?product=BSL136

If I don't get any yes/no's over the weekend I'm going to put in an order. It has a large reservoir, with see-thru walls, and is available in a variety of colors. Good price too. :)

Edit/// I know ya fuckers like pictures! Here are some.... that last picture is a bowl fully vaped -- dark brown, no combustion. A bit on the darker side. This thing has been a joy to use tonight.... :ko:

:peace:
where did you get that pipe

Hi JK, I'm guessing you've only just acquired the Vapman!? If so, stick with it! After a few tries you should start to get to grips with it - it will soon become second nature. I never think about my technique anymore.

If you find it too airy, a number of members have blocked up one or two of the air holes on the top piece with toothpicks/cocktail sticks - you may find that to be more to your liking. As far as avoiding combustion - I have the basic model - and as soon as I feel a flash of heat through the wood I know that it's probably ready for a toke, and don't heat it any longer - as far as advice goes that's a bit subjective I know, but it works for me. Good luck!

Anyway, I just popped by feeling a little excited over the fact that we don't have long to wait now until the new concentrates/oil screens are ready (whoop-whoop!). A couple of weeks max and they should be ready to buy! I can't wait to see what they've come up with.

For those of you thinking of buying one of these amazing little vaporisers soon, you're in luck! They're currently making a batch of YEW Vapmans - they're so going to look the dog's B!! There are some pics on FB of how they're getting on with them so far:

Hey you know i always had Bad Bad luck with torch lighters as i always bought name brand cigar/pipe lighters so held off on getting a Vapeman.

Now that I've been using a cheap "Power" brand cheap 3 dollar hand torch that came with another vape(the Daisy:luv:) I'm sold for sure. Love the ease of use and how little butane you actually use.

Now I Can't wait to have the Vapman in my grubby little hands.

That torch at puffitup is pretty legit for VM use! Is the vapman torch an Honest lighter?

It looks like an Honest - but I'm not sure, as I didn't buy it. I bought the Honest Sleek instead - I prefer the way it looks - and it works really well with my Vapman - so much so, I now own 3!
