...a raffle for this LB is in order...

Incidentally, if you have already contacted someone and have asked for warranty support and someone has indicated that they are in the process of issuing you a new replacement unit, be aware that the unit instance being replaced is *not* eligible for resale, gifting, etc. Units declared defective and which have been replaced technically revert ownership to the factory -- ie, a newer unit has been _exchanged_ for an older one -- it is its own kind of product transaction, even if we decide to do you a favor and save the shipping charges for the returned unit. Giving or selling a replaced unit is effectively a form of theft and will definitely void the warranty, (among other things).

My lauch box was very hot the first few days. No matter how fine I ground the herb it got black edges and green middles.
Now that I have used it(PLENTY!), it does not get that hot any more. It has sort of mellowed a bit.
I can hold a fresh battery in for 20 sec without combustion, and I do. Now that both my skill with the box and the temp has gone down, it hits like a dream!

that makes me wonder if my technique is good - I hold the battery in for ~30 seconds taking small hits every 4-5 seconds (you can see the vapour replenish a bit each time). Do others push the battery in and out during one big inhale instead? Now that i've got a coffee grinder the box is working wonderfully. Blissville should sell a starter kit including the C9000 and a good grinder, all happy investments i've made since getting the MFLB.

his load reminded me of my first few days with the mflb - not grinded near fine enough and not enough shaking lead to a small bit of combustion. it happened only once and now that i have a proper grind and learned technique from this thread, everythings working quite nicely now. I hope 13 gets a chance to read back in the thread at the technique posts - the box rewards patience and learning. Its certainly the best portable option i've seen.

Got a MFLB recently and love it. I'm not grinding fine enough yet but despite that, it's working great. Got it from PuffItUp for $85 using the coupon code mentioned previously and was very impressed by the completeness of the kit and how nicely the unit functions. Money very well spent in my opinion. Big ups Magic Flight on a great product!

Your Pinto analogy does not apply.

It does when you consider people are making bullshit excuses for problems that could have serious consequences; just like Ford did back then (although granted we're just talking about a little pretend vaporizer here).

reece said:
To be specific, it burns when I forget to turn the battery around while in my pocket. After a while I notice a burning smell.

You have GOT to be kidding. And you don't think that could be a BIG problem??? Hey this ain't an issue where "you ain't suckin hard enough" or "you ain't reading the instructions well enough" is a good answer unless yer just stoned or sumtin- It is a design flaw that could get someone hurt.

It isn't a design flaw when it is explained very clearly what to do and what not to do. I did what I shouldn't have done. I wasn't hurt. No where near it. I just smelled the overcooked material. And, as someone pointed out, there was no ash so no actual burning of the material. I used the wrong word. It would have had to have been on in my pocket much longer to burn me.

But regardless, there are many products that, if used improperly, can cause harm, even death. At some point, you must understand it is your responsibility to operate a machine in the way it was intended. If you do not, and you get hurt, you are at fault. It really sounds as if you're looking for a way to shirk your own responsibility. Again, the driver of the Pinto is not improperly operating the vehicle when it is rear ended. Sans a faulty box, it will not burn the material or harm you when operated properly. And, so far, I haven't read anything about faulty boxes harming anyone.

I've never used a Vrip heat wand but I imagine, please correct me if wrong, one could burn themselves with it if not careful. Is that the fault of the user or the manufacturer?

When carrying my Iolite in my pocket I always place its case between the vape and my leg. Why? Because when venting the exhaust burned my leg.

Supreme Vaporizer: Exposed large metal heating element.

Log vapes: those metal stem tips get hot. The heat exchangers are pretty hot also. Touch it and you get burned.

Volcano (from the manual):

The manufacturer is not re- sponsible for any damage or personal injury caused by inappropriate, incorrect or irresponsible use...if the vaporizer is not installed properly, this may cause per- sonal injuries and material damage for which the manuf- acturer cannot be held re- sponsible...Beware of hot surface!
after filling a balloon do not touch any parts of the filling chamber or of the cap until they have cooled down...safety instructions! in order to avoid injuries to persons and damage to the equipment, it is mandatory to observe instructions marked with this symbol.

Yeah, a vaporizer that requires proper operation has a serious design flaw.

But it's probably some sort of conspiracy that's why we are all giving these "bullshit" excuses. I'm quite happy with my box. I've been vaporizing for quite a few years now, probably a couple shy of 10. The box was not my first vaporizer. I've used a Volcano on numerous occasions. I currently own 5 vapes, including the box and an Iolite. I know the difference between vapor and smoke. I get vapor from the box. It sucks that you cannot. If it is a faulty box, take advantage of Magic Flight's awesome warranty and customer service. If you cannot operate the box properly, sell it and find one that suits you better. Both suggestions are active, productive steps you can take to make your situation better. Trashing the product and griping about it in the face of so much contrary evidence isn't getting you anywhere.

Good luck.

Yeah, my loads looked the same in the beginning. It takes time for the technique to be refined.

Me too!!

I've been playing with the C9000 charger and cycling my batteries.

The Powerex 2700's after first break in were in the 2500mah range. I used a couple times and now I'm doing a 2nd break in cycle as mentioned in the manual. Though they are still in progress I can see a reading of 2900mahs on one of them so I'm hopeful they might end up closer to the 2700 range but I have heard that most batteries have overstated mahs.

I took the stock batteries that were in the 2100 range when new and ran through the refresh/analyze to see where they were at and now I'm doing a break in on them after I use each one. Though I've had some for months I had readings from 1900-2100mahs on them all so far. I can tell that when the stock batteries came off the refresh analyze cycle they seemed stronger than they had previously.

I'm thrilled that I have a big stash of batteries so I can do the break in cycles easily. If I had a small number of batteries it'd be tough since it takes so long. I am really happy with this charger!! A great purchase IMHO.

I couldn't agree more......the charger definitely revived my old batteries. Its nice knowing my batteries are charged perfectly each time and then can be refreshed every 10 or so charges. The charger is a great investment, not only for my LB but for my wireless mouse and keyboard as well.

My first hits were on a vaporizer. Now I can't smoke anything else without feeling weird because the taste and high on a vaporizer is just so much more clear and nice. I love the flavor through a vaporizer, but when its combusted it tastes like shit now...

Can't wait to order my MFLB tomorrow! :) first vape ever!

oh and I measured out the specs of the MFLB on a piece of paper and kept thinking "no... it can't be that small" lol, i guess I will just have to see it! <3:peace:

Magic-Flight - THANK YOU not only for a wonderful product (which works exactly as advertised) but also for taking the time to respond thoroughly to some of the less-cerebral members of our site here who would prefer not to read or follow explicit directions before spouting off with hatred for your product. It shows you indeed put love above all else and also that you are supernaturally patient. What a wonderful combination: an incredibly well-engineered product AND a deeply compassionate human side to the company.

mod note: Enough with the personal attacks. Calling members 'less cerebral' certainly qualifies as an insult. "No flaming. I sort of did something like this.

I'd smoked on/off for the past 10 years but I got back into THC after a 5 year hiatus and I didn't smoke it but I vaped it.

It was not like smoking the first time but I did get and stay very high for more than 4 hours.

The experience reminded me of eating herb but without the nausea, passing/blacking out, confusion, major paralysis of eating a high dose of plant material in food.

How come there are no bongs, bubblers, or fancy glass work for the
MFLB? :(
Have I missed something? They give you that acrylic tube thingy,
so why not some custom fitted glass?
WTF pimp my ride!!

I haven't used a bong in years but I may get the whip that blisssville sells and connect that to a glass bong that I know it would fit perfectly.

I don't even use the stem that came with the MFLB.

Does anyone with powerex batteries store them in the plastic cases they came with? It looks like they might touch side by side. Has this been an issue with anyone?

thats what i'm doing - no issues - just dont touch the + end to anything. i flip the battery upside down in the holder when its used, easy way to keep track. The powerex's sure work nicely with the box, I haven't used the stock batteries in a while..

Here goes the explanation again... The only way for a battery to short is that the positive + tip and the negative - case of the SAME BATTERY need to touch. The sides of two batteries touching will do nothing. You need something that conducts electricity to touch the tip and the case of the same battery at the same time. See picture below. This applies to peeled batteries only.

Reece,

Contrary to what you've posted and with what we've read from other people who use this product (as it relates to overheating issue) the manufacturer IS in fact responsible for this design flaw and for any damage or serious personal injury caused as a result of this design problem. A rubber grommet for a device such as this being the only safeguard from creating combustion is beyond carelessness on the part of the manufacture. Companies have taken much bigger financial and public relations hits for far less; off the top of my head McDonald's and their hot coffee problems come to mind.

You obviously don't have even a rudimentary knowledge of the law, civil or otherwise, or you would understand such to be the case. This is particularly so considering the nature of the LB and the known and intended result of its use; an intoxicated individual.

While there are in fact many products that if used improperly can cause harm or even death, this product flaw quite potentially places even an informed user who has carefully read the instructions in a dangerous situation.

Personal responsibility is one thing, carelessness on the part of a manufacture for distributing a device with these kinds of basic problems is quite another; and even borderlines on the criminal.

You can sit there on your high horse and claim people are at fault because they aren't reading the instructions properly, born stupid, or whatever- but the reality is that a product such as this placed in the market with these kinds of design flaws for these kinds of customers is cause for great concern.

reece said:

Hey, a LOT of people liked the Pinto and Corvair but that doesn't mean the manufacturers weren't being careless and irresponsible.

And again, a product such as this which you can inadvertently place in your pocket and subsequently notice by a BURNING SMELL that it is still on or has been activated while being place into your pocket is a SERIOUS problem no matter how hard YOU and a few other's in this thread try to deny it.

I hope you're paying attention Magic Flight!
