Oh I meant it was completely out for about an hour. It's weird. I just flipped the charger over, and plugged it back in then it worked just fine.

OK, so I am thinking about joining the massdrop, my first, on this Vapormax V. If I understand correctly it has the glass MP but is single temp. I have 2 questions.
Is there any benefit to doing the massdrop over buying direct from a verdor that will sell the device for a few dollars less? Having never done a massdrop I don't know if it has any intrinsic benefits.
And second, about the VMV itself. I have been limited lately to some only fair brick weed that doesn't vaporize as well as high quality goods. Due to the one temp nature of this device, will it even work with mediocre product? I get that there are big differences in the makeup product at any level, but generally.

After reading this whole thread I jumped in on the massdrop too. Will be interesting to see how this compares to the PnP. I have apparently missed a few developments over there.. Looking forward to longer battery life and quicker warm up times too.

@NolaD : you won't be disappointed by the battery life, it's quite impressive on this one. Two large capacity batteries, it compares positively (if not better) to the Ascent.

The provided charger on the other hand is rather on the weak side, at only 1A, but at least it's super small and you could almost pocket it so it's a plus. I'm gonna ask Smiss how much amps would be safe without entering too much in the fast-charge zone (as it wears batteries faster)

The Ascent charger is 3A and has the exact same voltage and jack pin type+polarity, so I was able to use the FM one to charge my Ascent, albeit more slowly. I didn't test the other way round though, as I didn't want to damage the gf's FM.

@cybrguy : yes, if there's something to extract, it will get extracted. We used it with some ultra low potency wild sativa from Himalaya and got good vapor.

For your massdrop vs other question: my advice would be to get the new 5S version directly from Smiss because 3 temp settings is better than one!

Has anyone posted pics of the 5S that I missed somehow? Is the temp adjusted through button presses or is there a switch or what?

Alright the two babies arrived this morning and this time no import taxes, they (Smiss) did the declarations right when Vnice/Flowerwen said they would but didn't in the end, that's a good thing.

The packaging has been updated a little, now it says V5.0 vaporizer (not 5S curiously), there's the new discreet logo and.... tada... 3 temperature settings!

On the side there is a new QR security/authenticity code with a small 'scratch me' zone to reveal a serial number. This should hopefully be a good indicator in the future to tell if you got a genuine version or not (although I imagine someone could fake that sticker too, but nonetheless it's a nice addition)

It says the mouthpiece is "Pyres Glass" with a mis-spelling. The thing is relatively thick, same form factor as the silicone one. But, first disappointment: apparently you can't remove the metal base from it and the apperture on the top is quite small, so I'm afraid I will have a hard time cleaning this stuff in the future. At least the internal ceramic disc that restricted the air-flow is not there anymore, they are listening to our feedback.

Second slight disappointment: there's no spare silicone mouthpiece in the kit. I kinda hoped there would be one, in case I break the glass one... Someone said it's possible to buy those spares online?

Inside the box not much changed, apart that my previous charger had a euro plug adapter fitted on it, now it's directly a euro plug charger. The amp rating is the same and it's still pretty small. Of course and in case you are wondering: no you won't get a euro plug charger if you are outside Europe obviously!

Now onto the device itself: new logo on the sides, apart from that it's strictly the same, with a single button do-it-all operating logic. I just powered one of them and did a very short burn-in, and then put them both on charge as the consensus is that this first charge is of prime importance with Li-Ion batteries (and if it's not, well it doesn't cost much to wait a little longer just to be sure)

So for now the little guys are sun-bathing on my chair with their charger pin plugged in their ass!

During the first burn-in I could smell that trademark robot fart and I'm pretty sure it's due to this silly tape they put around the bowl. I can't stress it enough but people don't realize that ventilation and air flow are of key importance when doing off-gassings / burn-ins! You want to remove those nasty remnants and it's not by letting your device sit on high temp that it's gonna happen.

There needs to be a stream of air to carry the molecules away, so either put the device in front of a fan, or as I did, keep blowing inside it as much as you can. Beware that doing this will make the aluminium body quite hot (if you blow through the mouth-piece that is) so another solution is to blow though the bowl venting holes instead. Yes it's the boring part, if you are not too taste-sensitive you can skip it and use the device directly as the smell is less overwhelming than what the silicone straw had in my first device.

I haven't put any material inside yet, can't comment on the 3 temp settings. I can just tell you that you cycle though them with the single button. Hold it 3 seconds then release, the LED will blink another color and stop blinking once that temp level is reached. It starts blue, then purple, then red, using that plastic light guide, it's pretty... It's quite similar to the Indica in that regard.

Voila! The price difference with the original V version is so small that I see no good reason not to get the upgraded 5S version.

Thanks for that. I ask because even with my Lotus I'm not getting as much vapor as I was getting with better product.

Well, I'm committed now if the MassDrop goes through to the last price. I joined late hoping I would know in a short time as the time limit was ending, but then they added 2 days to it. So, if it doesn't happen I will try to get the new version, but if it does hopefully I will be happy with the straight V5 version.

Not sure who it was, maybe paytonpenn or vape dr, but the VMV has been compared to the PnP on setting 2. Is that a safe assumption? That seems about right according to the temp guide for the PnP.

I am pretty happy with my PnP, but it does take a little while to heat up, and I really prefer it on 3 or 4, so I don't get my many sessions on a single charge (maybe 3 full sessions on setting 4). I did a session on 2 and was satisfied, but just want to make sure it will be able to at least some what keep up with the PnP. I also like that I could possibly use the bullets and water pipe for the VMV. The new model has me thinking twice...

Ok here's the first update about the 5S:

I did not notice at first glance but they did a slight modification to the design, it's a nice move. Previously there was an exposed LED in the vapor-path, and I was not very fond of this idea. On top of that, after regular use this LED became all gunked up, and the light was a very dim orange almost faint glow. I tried to clean it several times but so far it never recovered its initial shine.

In the new device this LED has been moved outside of the bowl and it shines through the upper white silicone part. So it's all flat, there's no longer a groove around it to catch resin/oils, it will be way easier to clean and should hopefully stay bright for longer.

Another difference I noticed is that, at least on red setting, the auto shut-off timer seems to be shorter. I moved both units inside a well ventilated room and I'm still completing the burn-ins. I let them run on red until they shut off and cool down then I start them again. I must say I had to return to that room quite often to turn them up!

Needless to say, and it should answer @NolaD's questions about battery life, that I'm amazed by the number of "sessions" I was able to get on red before the first device batteries got flat (and that was after the full initial charge and waiting a couple extra hours with the green light just in case) I was already very pleased by the V version longevity, but this one might even be better.

Anyone has a V version box at hand? I'd like to know what battery capacity is stated on the packaging as this one says it's two 2600mAh's and it's almost the maximum one can get at the moment, excepted one or two makers who claim to have 2800 cells (I'm assuming those are protected packs as otherwise there are 5000mAh's unprotected around using the same format for less money, so they would have used that instead if it was possible)

I got a sensitive nose and that robot fart smell ain't completely gone... I remember it took quite some time with the gf's one, so I will try to be patient. I hope Smiss will improve that aspect in the future. It's not awful but it smells like tape/glue and I'm pretty sure it comes from that orange stuff around the bowl.

I think mine broke. The green light is lit and shows to be fully charged, but when I go to turn it on, it blinks red a few times and won't even turn on the light. I lost my manual too :(

Does the light turn on when you hit the button 5 times? If it does , hold the button for about 5 second and the red light should stay on, it will turn green when ready.

Could someone give the Alibaba link for the offer on the Flowermate V5S? I do want to contact a rep but there seems to be a sea of offers on there and I cant pick out whats legit, not to mention I have no idea how Alibaba works. I'm really trying to pick this up as my first vape before I go to college. Where did you get yours from KeroZen?

@CheCray : welcome on board! Please take the time to read the thread it's not very long and full of good tips. I got it directly from Smiss which is the official manufacturer. Find them on alibaba and request a quote for a commercial sample, they will take care of you by mail. Don't worry alibaba is a giant web conglomerate in China and they provide escrow services like eBay etc (but in the end you will likely end up paying with PayPal so you'll get protection too)

@dzl : thanks! So they are the same capacity. I'll have to check but I think these vapes are in the top of the pack when it comes to battery sizes, really good. That being said, I already voiced my concern about their longevity as one of them is sitting very close to the hot bowl and might degrade pretty fast. At least I think we might have a chance to replace them DIY-style...

For those having managed to open their FM, can you please tell me if you were able to do that non-destructively? I removed the two top screws but then it was so tight up there, nothing moved, I was afraid of breaking something. Then I realized the button on the side and light guide would surely be a PITA and weak point, so I stopped there. But I didn't try very hard in the end I must admit, maybe it's easier than what I thought? (and yes I know there are bottom screws too)

@KeroZen Thanks for the help! Buying from Alibaba seems a bit intimidating but you definitely know what your doing. Hopefully this poor college kid can get a taste of his first vape soon.

EDIT: Do you know if there are any special requirements for them to get you a sample? For example they may only send samples to those willing to sell their product.

Hi guys, my regular Flowermate V from Flowerwen is coming without problems, she declared $10 of the regular price, but didn't write the price of the delivery service.

It has been released from customs just earlier today, just one day on the customs office, which is usually good news.

Probably will arrive tomorrow or next day. 13 days since payment more or less.

Hello fellow fc members...first time post on this thread. I just committed to the massdrop. This is my first portable vaporizer. I had the ascent back in October for about two weeks but had to many problems, got my refund instead. Got my eyes on the solo but at the moment unfortunately my budget won't let me. I came across the flowermate on massdrop looking if they had the solo. So for 70 bucks you can't go wrong with this unit who has so many good reviews. So I pulled the trigger even tho I'm not a fan of products made from china. Especially something used to inhale. But great reviews and comments that I read on this forum made jump on it quick, can't go wrong for 70. But after purchasing it on massdrop I realized I did not read anything about warranty. Can someone please let me know if this vape comes with at least some type of warranty. Or dose massdrop have a warranty on it. I would greatly appreciate a response on this matter. I'm pretty stoked about getting this little unit. Thanks again fellow fc members.

So how does the new 3 temp version compare to the original? How do they hit comparatively? The original doesn't seem to give thick potent hits from what I've seen...

I feel its sort of a bell curve in terms of operation. The first two hits are somewhat underwhelming and the third fourth and fifth are (for me anyway) superb , I can get pretty thick clouds with ease. Then it sort of tapers off again and the hits get less and less potent.

I really like the way it does this as it makes a session predictable and sort of flowing.

I'm really intrigued with the new version and different temp setting , just need a good review before I end up twatting my wallet.

I don't think you should expect thick hits from a fixed temp vape, nor from a pocket portable. Thickest hits come at your higher temps, and most pocket vapes have a narrow diameter stem/mouthpiece, and that's going to limit hit size. For me, a pocket vape should be downsized proportionally- smaller bowl, stem, etc. A sipper instead of a gulper. You get the same potency. It just takes more hits to get it.

I got a little curious about the Flowermate since I like this style of vape, and asked about the new 5S. First of all, KeroZen's info on the LED that was relocated would be enough for me to take the additional risk of more potential problems with 3 temp settings, vs. the simplicity of one. I don't know what temp the V uses, but the 5S is reported as 385.5, 400, 415 F. I'd prefer the lowest setting to be no higher than about 370, but you can compensate some by drawing before it says it's ready, and hitting it hard, thus lowering the vaping temp a bit.

I don't know when the 5S will be available to buy normally, but for now, as KeroZen explained, you should contact smiss via the alibaba site if you want one. You'll get a price under $60, but the shipping will be almost as much. I was quoted $53.50. I can buy 4 units and get that shipping price, with the per unit price coming out to just over $70. Buy two and it's $83 each. One would be $110.

You can get the one temp V model for $64 via dhgate.com. There's a seller using epacket shipping and it's only $7.22, resulting in the low $64 price for one unit. So if you're willing to wait, the 5S will likely be available for $65-70.

Do you know if there are any special requirements for them to get you a sample? For example they may only send samples to those willing to sell their product.
The only requirement is you have to send them money. Make up a company name if using a contact form and it requires one, but they're not going to check. They don't really care. If you're a real business then you may buy more. If not, they're not losing any money.

Hi mates, enjoying the product already, how many sessions does it last a load? I think with full effect is 2-3 sessions, but I seem to get other kind of cannabinoids after 3-4 sessions with the same load. Is that possible or I'm just depriving myself of oxygen?

Questions like this don't really have good answers. It's like asking how many hits it takes to get high- too subjective. Variables like how much you load (which can vary according to how fine you grind), and how long and hard you draw, as well as the temp used, which even with the fixed temp model can vary according to draw speed, all serve to make the answers more or less unique to the individual. Some will also quit sooner on a bowl load, thinking it's done or stopping due to an ABV taste.

Middle-aged Pothead
After pulling the trigger on a Ebay VMV too quickly, I have a 1stGen Flowermate V 5.0 coming today. Shortly after I ordered this last week (I missed the MassDrop by 1 day), I realized they were currently releasing 2nd and even 3rd gen versions. I had determined that I could live without the variable temp, as long as it had the glass mouthpiece, smoothed chamber LED and no pot leaf logo, and communicated with a different Ebay seller and purchased another. Today, he responded to my last direct question "Does it have 3 temp settings?" with "You can set the temperature how you liked it." :)

Had to pay shipping for this one, but still ended up only $85.50, which was <$6 more than I paid for the other one.

So, it looks like I'll Craigslist the Gen1 that is showing up today, without even opening it. I'm sure some local person will snag it, just to keep from having to pay headshop prices or wait for shipment.

A taste on the tongue
I'm curious about one of the new ones seen one on ebay at £65 with a proper uk plug not an adapter *the seller claims these have caught fire/electric shocks* ??

it seems great for portability/outdoors my lotus needs to be wind free as it's hard outside. Solo too big. PNP not really impressed with it poor battery life etc.

Do the old style silicon mouthpieces fit as I'd get a spare off a online shop but they only stock single temp flowermate units as £20 more.
