What wax do you guys recommend for the herc? Sounds like most people think shatter is the best and crumble is the worst. I know bho's are good, not sure how to tell which wax's are though, most of the time it's just listed as wax or a weird name. I'm not very good at telling wax quality, I've always just kind of gone by thc%, price, and stickiness so it wasn't a pain to get on the coil. The lighter the shatter and the less bubbles the better? Is the color thing true for most waxes? Prices go from $20-$40 and I want to shop at least a little smart.

The herc handles all types. I usually just go with the best deal I can find & suffer the consequences (taste, loading, leaks). None of which are really that big of deal. If the wax isn't viscous enough, throw it in the freezer for a half hour before loading to ease the process. "Liquid-y" waxes are also enemy #1 when it comes to leaks, which is one of the reasons why shatter may be your best option. IMO the herc is the ultimate frugality enabler because if you're broke, use daily, or if you forgot your stash at home, you can grab some cheap shit & go HAM. Grab a kiss (or one of the upcoming projects) to spoil yourself with some clear sap every once in a while & you're set.

@THC SCIENTIFIC Is the KISS Alpha C the one you pictured earlier in the thread with 2 coils. ( as a few of us previously posted)?

KISS Corps, is that a small medicated army all wielding long Persei's with 2x18650's in there.
(Core). Rebuild kit for KISS?

Starting the day with a Full-flavor session with the Bender and some Sour Purple Diesel. Life is good. @ataxian

Is that a hammer top? Red jewel button? What? Jealous.

I like my concentrate to be clear, cheap, and to have high THC%. In an ideal world, I would like my concentrate to be light in color too - but that blows the budget. I wouldn't choose a lighter colored concentrate that had lower THC% or was opaque.

When it comes to wax, I find that the ~60%THC stuff to take too long to heat on the Herc coil.

It's a Hammer Top indeed. Exclusive red jewel button edition...........jk:lmao:
What color do you want?
Leftovers from one of Mrs. DieHard's projects.

Seriously? That's awesome, thanks. Very, very cool. Hmmm, I was thinking red is good because you can see it through your finger an all of that, but that doesn't really matter on a hammer top. Is it weird to kind of want a pink button on my giant black core/persei/herc of doom? Yeah, I think I'm going pink.

Waiting for things to open so I can order for my first herc run. Just took it apart to add the sr-74x upgrade and it was already in there, didn't realize it came with it. I was going to put in a 3.7 rod, but decided leave the 7.4, screw it. 30 more minutes until open.....

pretty much any solvent extract runs fine. Contaminants and plant waxes tend to build up in the coil so using quality filtered absolutes keeps the herc clean longer.

i recently ethanol washed (winterized) some store bought BHO. The white creamy shit that filtered out, smokey when burned, would have just built up in the coil and burned onto the rod.

edit to add: lost under 10% by weight but looked like half by volume.

Ah, that's EXACTLY what I wanted to hear. Quality is up to me and not really limited by the herc at all. Thank you sir.

If I understanding well, most part of the time, waxy oil consistency is a way to hide the low quality of the oil, shatter is easier to judge quality from your eyes (must to be transparent, without shadow&bubbles, different strains gives different colors, so it can be dark or clear).

imo a 20 dollars wax might to taste bad (2ndrun I believe) and don't pass the foil test!

Different finishing methods determine consistency. There was an AMA on reddit from a CO oil producer, and he broke it down, no nonsense. He also mentioned shatter had a tendency to test detectable but not harmful amounts of solvent, whereas the honeycomb tested lowest in the residuals. I didnt expect that to be the case, as I always take shatter over anything else if available, and even three runs deep on my little ss turkey baster i still get sap/shatter just way darker. I have a vac chamber too, but with so little amount i just spread it super thin on the double stacked pyrex with hotwater. Comes out either shatter or pull-snap sap everytime and passes whatever makeshift home butane test you wanna make... can provide photos of this mornings craft (3rd run on some outdoor bd, dark but still clear shatter) if you want to message me on the side.

Ive also had great success with kief in herc, but..... it gets gross to clean.

Its my understanding that certain strains are darker/lighter when extracted... Is this not the case? Do you live by a place that tests to know what youre getting %-wise or you have a way to tell? Im not trying to confront or argue, just trying to learn.

Yes. Typically high CBD strains yield darker concentrates.

holy shit, didnt even hear of this before, but a quick google-fu showed quite a bit of anecdotal evidence. One even suggested blasting your a.b.v to recover the cbd and cbn that wouldve been left behind... Dunno about that one though...

Lots of members here extract their ABV. Most everyone that does, agrees it's good for pain and sleep, which would lead one to believe it's high in CBDs. Downside is that it doesn't taste super awesome since terps are some of the first things to get vaped off, along with THC.

Of course the yields are dependent on how well vaped your herb is.

I'm in love with my herc now. So first try I got a glob in the reclaim, a bit stuck on the underside of that top cap, and a tiny, tiny bit on the screen. I have to admit I thought everyone was exaggerating a bit about the taste, but it was intense. At first I was worried I was sucking up oil or something was messed up. I thought the kiss carts were good but this a couple levels above them. Such an epic cloud of tasty vapor. Just spaced out amazed and forgot to do cool down hits so I think that's where I got it in the reclaim. I did a second try a minute or two later and did cool down hits, almost no vapor which I thought was weird. I think I need to be drawing in when I turn it off, but the vapor started almost immediately, I was expecting around 10 seconds. Did not need the second try, I was good for like 6 hours after that.

Do people normally take a hit or vape some after putting in the buffer? I just melted in small chunks until I had .5 in there and went for it. Is that why I got it on the underside of the cap and some went into the mouthpeice? It sounded a little bubbly when I started drawing. I'm like 90% sure I wasn't drawing too hard, the globe really got me to draw slowly. Who knows though, maybe I did, I'll just have to practice a lot.

Also when I'm done keep it vertical or laying on it's slide with the tip slightly inclined?

I'm very happy.

I was wondering if curves in the ceramic rods were a problem as well the rod for my herc is slightly curved and it appears to function properly but my areas still dry of wax and I haven't had time to make my own so I haven't really tested it yet

The rod looks bent. Mine came with the rod i ordered from planetvape.com cause w9 didn't have them yet with rods. but it may be the way its supposed to be i just don't know if its supposed to be straight or have a slight bend

If I were to get a persei in the future, do I need any other parts to use the hercules, such as the hammer top?

Thanks.
