Dosage with Different Strengths of Cannabis

Hello Everyone,

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. If this is in the wrong section please let me know, and be gentle.

I am a medicinal user and about three weeks ago I began measuring my dosage, and tapering off so that I would use less herb but get better highs/pain relief. So far the results are amazing! I am using less herb, 50mg per session, twice a day. I would like to get this down to one session ideally once I get better control of my body pain.

My situation is this. I purchase many different strains because I like to see if one is better than the other. The big question concerns me is the THC levels that flux from one batch to another.

If I am using 50 mg of a strain that is 20% THC, would I need to double the dosage to 100mg if I chose a different strain that had only 10% THC? I am looking for consistency in the amount of THC I take in.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and sharing our experiences.

I agree with your point, but in this case, I am only concerned about taking in consistent THC levels. I understand about all of the other components that are beneficial (and they are great), but I must pose the same question. Purely from a mathematical standpoint, is the amount of THC in a 100mg 10% THC strain proportional to 50mg of a 20% THC strain?

Mathematically that sounds correct, as long as you're comparing a like amount of flowers without excess stem and leaf matter.

Sweet. I'm not sure how the testing process is performed in determining THC levels but I was hoping measuring it would be as simple as weighing to find proportionate dosaging.

Thanks, Grokit.

hey hi welcome to fc

there are other factors to be considered something that has been lost over time that is how long does it keep you medicated .

lets say i have 3 samples from one strain one tested at 10 percent one at 20 and the last one at 15
all picked at different times the 10 percent one was picked early the effects only last 45 mins to 1 hour
the 20 percent was picked at its peak the effects last 2 to 4 hours and last 15 percent was picked way late 2 to 4 weeks past peak however it's high last 8-12 hours sometimes longer.

so a strain with lower thc may keep you medicated longer and depends alot on the strain itself

Nice! I was wondering if the effects could still be better than expected with lower dosages for some strains depending on the conditions you mentioned. 10 years and still learning something new every day.

I think you're over analyzing you're intake to gauge the relief factor. I've started six months ago for the same purpose as you are. I've bought 5 different strain, sativas, indicas and couple of strains of wax. Mos likely you will not know exactly how much THC/cbd whatever components has, no matter how they advertise it. It's how much you use each time and how you're body reacts to and the length of relief to your satisfaction, and adjust the amount of use. For me, in six months, I've used up total of nine grams of flower, once a day with vaporizer and it was good enough for relief, and never adjusted the amount from day one. Now, I'm left with a gram of wax, I only dab one time at night with very little amount, and it feels it's enough. My point, don't bother with measuring it, use your body how it feels to gauge it, try to add a little once in a while and see how you feel.

imo continue to measure doses but extend these measurements to effects also, like type of effects & how long effects last.

Make some experiments with new strains to dial in dose & buy in bulk for consistency ...when weighing/testing, weigh ground material not buds.

If you want to take it to the next level you might consider testing:

I totally agree. My first concern is to ensure I always know how much THC I am taking in, so that I can keep tolerance in check and so the effects are at their best. I am still looking for my sweet spot. I've got my sessions down to one in the evening, 50 mg, sometimes 50 mg in the morning with 12 hours in between. I am not sure yet if going lower will enhance the effect but I find it encouraging to see members here who claim to get good results from 35, even 25 mg! That would be awesome :) Right now I am trying to find my daily max that will not send my tolerance up. In future if my health improves, it would be nice to take a day off in between.

I'm really happy to be on this forum and sharing experiences. I should have done this years ago.
