I hate the feeling and taste of vapor through water... and the smell afterwards of the water is bad.
Perhaps the bubbler needs to be cleaned. I too feel better when not using filtration, and I am certain I get more medicated. While I do feel good when I use water, I believe a certain something ... a constituent is missing... something psychoactive and alert!

Use it all... so what if there are a few flecks.
Some folks scrape wand hash, and some use cotton and wipe the oils, and vape the cotton.
Some freeze wands, and then scrape with a chopstick.
I like Iso (91%)... use as much as needed... you will just have to let it evaporate on a dish and scrape it up.
Vape it with the flecks.. or filter it. ( I don't filter it)
You can easily fish the flecks out or pluck them up off the dish the Iso mix is evaporating on.

Is the old knob removed, or does the glass just fit over the metal knob? And is it a grooved/splined surface or just a tight-fitting glass on metal fit? Thanks for any info.

Edit: I don't have the DBV yet (it's on the way), so I can't really examine the possibilities myself.

the knob pulls off.
The center pole is a splined, split rod.
the end is split to add tension (or not )
the grooves run along horizontaly.
you would fill the glass knob with a firm setting rubberized glue/filler, which would solidify against the grooves, and you are good to go.

I totally agree that hitting da buddha without water changes it big time. The water makes the hit a lot smoother, but it seems to cut down on the high a bit. Herb lasts a hell of a lot longer when you're hitting it dry too, not to mention the incredible flavor. I love vaping through water but it just seems to be more wasteful than without

I just got done emailing the dbv company and they said they sell a standard glass heater cover. I just got my Buddha and am waiting for it in the mail, but am wondering if it would be a good 35$ dollar investment. I haven't used the ground glass yet, and plan on using the value with a bong. So idk which would be a better choice... A bong adaptor or the new heater cover, or nothing, and save the money

Hey guys!

I just got my Da Buddha in the mail, and boy am I disappointed. I ordered mine from Ebay via easyvape, and it looks like it came from the 7th floor guys who refurbish(?) and sell SSV and DBVs, so I do have warranty coverage.

Here is the problem: the heating element simply does not work. I plugged it in for the first time and cranked it up and then left for 10 minutes, following the instructions in the manual, but when I came back, it was still cold. I know that the vape is connected to the power because the little light on the back is on, but the heating element just never heats up.

My questions are as follows: Has anyone had success with the warranty / repairs from 7th floor? Should I expect them to get back to my email in a timely manner? Did I get what I deserve buying it on ebay, or is getting a defective vape abnormal? And finally does anyone know what might have gone wrong with it? When I pick up the vape with the heater cover on there is some slight rattling, but I think that is just the glass against the metal clip holding it in.

Thanks in advance for any help, I've been really frustrated all afternoon troubleshooting / tryin to figure this out.

7th Floor BUILDS the DBV, SSV, and LSV. Extremely reliable and timely in my experience.

You need to deal with the seller you bought from. You can try the manufacturer, but eBay sales are spelled out on their site-

"Silver Surfer® Vaporizers purchased from Ebay that are NOT sold under the 7thFloorSales account are not covered by warranty in any way, shape or form." 7thFloorSales is their eBay account name, and you're buying directly from them in that case.

Should I expect them to get back to my email in a timely manner?

You can always get a product that's bad out of the box. 7th Floor vapes are normally very reliable. You just got unlucky. The seller should make it right. They should have a return policy for 14-30 days at least. You can also try the eBay money back guarantee or PayPal guarantee if the seller tries to stiff you.

They got back to me last night which was nice. They had me perform a 'vaporizer check', and I opened up the bottom and found out that a connection had come apart which I then reattached. The heating element works properly now, and so does the vape. :)

And yea it was slightly unclear to me if I would be covered because the vape was 7th floor, but the ebay dealer wasn't their account specifically. Either way the seller contacted me too about a replacement before I'd even fixed it. Overall, a little troubleshooting and some helpful employees got me set up.

If you'd bought a (new) herbalAire (just an example) from an eBay seller, it would have had warranty coverage by the manuf. Product makers differ in their warranty requirements, so you should always check if a warranty is a priority for you. eBay sellers also differ. Some will provide warranty exchanges or offer a more limited warranty. Others will just list a 'manufacturer's warranty', trying to make prospective bidders think they'll get coverage.

I've become intrigued by this vape after seeing it at my cousin's house. Can anyone who is familiar with Da Buddha and Arizer EQ describe to me some of the differences/similarities and point out any cross-compatibility between glass joints, hoses or accessories? I'd love to donate some of my spare parts to him and sort out a water pipe attachment and upgrade his whip to a better one. (And on that topic; is the stock Buddah hose of high quality or could he benefit from a new silicone hose?

I may have many more questions to come so please bare with me!

The 7th Floor products use a good quality, flexible tubing that's a size larger (3/8" ID, 1/2" OD) than the stiff tubing used (last I checked) by Arizer. No, you don't need silicone unless your taste buds are sensitive and object to the hint of taste you can get (I don't) with non silicone tubing.

Who vapor bongs their DBV? Do you prefer:

A: dry hits
B: cold water
C: warm water
D: Hot water

Why? Anyone else get more high without water?

I think I might get more high...is this because water traps THC? Afterall, I can visably see reclaim and resin stuck to the side of my bubbler after the vapor passes through water...surely their is THC lost, right?

I need water because of an easily irritable throat mouth and teeth. I have experimented with room temperature, and slightly warm. yet to try COLD and WARM though. I think warm will be better

I get more high without water.
Yes... THC is left behind.. either in the water or on the wall of pipe.
Those gobs of oil belong in my body.
I can vape a dozen hits through water, and while it makes me more and more relaxed,
I am certain that I feel less.
There is some psychoactive constituent that I feel not present.
I get more electrifying of a buzz with no water.. more sparkle and up alert feeling.
Water smells bad after a hit or two also.
I use rezblock, and the smell is better but I still feel less medicated.
I am a dry hit kind of guy.

Just showed up on Massdrop 124.99 for lowest price, if it hits that price, I think I might grab this. I have the Lsv, always wanted a SSV, from what I understand it's all the same heating element. Look forward to reading this thread. Massdrop is killing my wallet this weekend.

I got mine on Massdrop back in March and paid a little under $130 iirc. It has been the best investment. There was some question in my mind as to whether these were reclaim because upon really close inspection the unit I got had some bubbles in the glass hc and mouthpiece and a single scratch across an unnoticeable part of the housing that I think was from the original machining, because it seems to be painted over. No matter, it still looks drop dead sexy and performs perfectly! Unlike reclaims on the 7th Floor site, this one comes with the padded bag, which is important for taking it to a party or sleepover (not being at home is not an excuse to resort to combustion, though lack of electricity may be problematic).

It's simple to use, the biggest learning curve is not blowing back into the hose (will send material all over the element and cause massive combustion). You'd be surprise at how much we unconsciously blow outward. But with experience this is easily overcome. You won't even have to pack after you get the hang of the vacuuming method of filling your wand. I try to fill 1/3-1/2 full, but not more, this gives you wiggle room to stir, and makes it less likely that herb will slump sideways onto the element. On that note, I always draw as I insert or remove my wand, to eliminate the possibility of herb shaking loose and falling into the heater cover.

My suggestion is to pull the trigger. I wasn't disappointed.

To avoid blowing material back into the heater cover, load your material into a vapexhale ELB and drop the ELB into the top of the wand. The ELB will help heat the load evenly as well because it restricts the air path.

Huh ??? What??? what do you mean I've finished reading this entire thread??? It all started with my best friend who I've known for over 30 years suggesting that maybe smoking weed is something that is starting to bother him that maybe it might be time to find an alternative. He liked getting high but wanted to not smoke it. Edibles are out for me (last 2 times I threw up). So I'm watching a t.v show called Satisfaction where a woman wants to smoke a joint for the first time in years. She goes to her hippy sister get some weed and then asks for papers. Sister responds with "smoking ??? that's so 80's try this vaporizer. Well I should investigate this vaporizer thing. After a week of research I narrowed my choices to about 4 different ones. I still had not decided which one to get but then I stumbled across A brand new DBV on craigslist for $150 and the guy lived only 4 miles away. It was 2:00 3hrs before I start work lots of time to get it get home try it out and get to work. Traffic was the worst I've ever seen by the time I got home I had to leave for work. But it was Friday and I had the next week off. I then had a week off to play with my new toy. My first impression after reading some of this thread was to start at 12:00 and 1/3 full bowl. I took a slow draw and nothing. It tasted ok but no vapor no nothing. Hmmm ok, let's try 1:00. Slow draw and still not really feeling anything for the first half of the draw, but then there's the flavor everyone is talking about, wow that is yummy, and I exhale a huge vapor cloud that I can feel in the back of my head. With no work for 10 days I got me a 1/2 oz wondering if I had enough. With combustion it might be enough but barely. 2 weeks later I still have 1/4 oz. This I can not believe. The DBV is not 3 times better, its 3 to the power of 3 better. I use 3x less, get 3x as high, and the high lasts 3x as long. My only complaint is that sometimes I don't want to be high 3x longer. I start work at 5:00 so if I smoke a joint at 2:00 or 2:30 by 5:00 I'm fine. Now I'm still wrecked at 7:00 sometimes even 8:00.. I've been smoking for 30 years now I think I've become a vapor snob. I honestly can't picture myself with a lighter anymore (unless I'm starting a campfire). What the hell took me so long??? I feel like I did when I first started smoking weed when I was 16. So I've spent the last 2 weeks reading this thread and now I'm done :( what do i read now???

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that you will shortly acquire something we call VAS, which is a TLA for Vapourizer Acquisition Syndrome. You'll read more threads and discover that every device is different. You'll have a strong attraction to some of them. Maybe you'll realize that you really need at least one backup in case anything happens to your DBV. Perhaps the idea of having a device that you can take with you will start to look more appealing. Whatever the trigger, VAS is difficult to avoid.

The good news is that soon you'll have another toy.

Ahhh VAS, the reason I have a second Evo, an ascent, da Buddha, and flowermate all ordered on the recent drops. The enano is next on my list... :)
