We generally hear that around 5 power-ups is typical for normal battery performance. It is worth knowing that while on the charging dock the Pax indicator light will turn green when it is 80% charged. If you shake your Pax while it's on and the LED Indicator flashes green 3x that means your battery is 80-100% charged. General rule is 2 full hours on the charger will get you up to 100% battery charge and ensures maximum Ploom time.

It's also important to know that the battery uses most of its power heating up or going into standby mode and then heating up again. A situation like that will lead to less than 5 full sessions.

My Pax doesnt last nearly that long! Not even 1 full oven!
I will note that Ploom themselves have said that the battery should be down to about 2-2.5 25m sessions by a year of use doing ~3 sessions a day. If you barely get one oven, 20-25m, out of it and have NOT owned it for ~3 years, then yes you have a problem.

Idk IMO that doesn't sound right at all 2 ovens?!?!? I get at least 4 20+ min sessions on one charge.

Like any rechargeable batteries it's best to completely use the device till it is completely dead then charge it till it's full then remove it from the charger. Leaving something on a charger after it's full drains the battery life.

Also u say u stir after every 3rd draw. Also I think this is hurting u too. Each time u open the lid I'm sure ur losing vapor and heat so the pax works that much harder. If u use the double screen method it vapes evenly. Use a reg bowl screen, roll it up an place it on ur flowers to keep it compact. Doing this u use less flowers. I was told about the volcano concentrate pad (steel wool basically) after cutting to size it works great.

All together ur pax should last at least an hour of run time at least that's what I experience

Ok... I just used it for an hour and 40 minutes straight! Still 2 ovens though... but I guess I'm up to par on battery life... right? I tried the volcano pad too... nice.

Yeah I think "oven loads" is just a bad metric to go by because some people just lightly pack it and only vape till it's light brown, others will pack it full and roast it on all settings until it's dark like coffee, and everything in between.

I want to buy this vape but I'm at a crossroads between this, the FF, and the indica. Can anyone highlight the pros and cons of this device?

This is off-topic for this thread. If you can't find the answer using the search feature, you can make a post in Ask FC.

@Hottaflames yea u just vape the crap outta ur ovens lol 1hr n 40min of running sounds right to me. Like I said I get 4+ ovens at 20 min a session so that's roughly the same as urs. Also ur welcome with the volcano pad. Glad I could help

If you are ok to gamble with your gf's health but not your own, that says a lot...

I, for one, bought a FlowerMate Vapormax V for my gf, but that's because:
1) the kind folks on FC dismantled the device and we are confident it should be safe health-wise
2) she asked for something idiot-proof (which it is)
3) she wanted something with no glass part (after breaking one of our Ascent stems)

Also the FM is an original design by Smiss, a large e-cig maker, here we're talking about a copy-cat found on DHgate... not exactly the same thing...

So I would tell you to buy the new FlowerMate 5S instead of this, it has 3 temp settings, is hassle free, easy to maintain, hits hard and doesn't cost an arm.

(and yes, sorry, this is completely off-topic)

Yea I was ignorant to the health effects so thanks for clearing that up. I assumed it just had poor performance compared to the original. But I'm just going to get another real pax. And thanks for the alternate choices but my experience with my pax is fantastic and I don't mind giving them more of my bussiness.

I'm using the concentrate pad to fill my oven EVERY time I use my Pax! In a word: WOW!
1. Less bud gets you just as medicated. (I think)
2. Bud vapes thoroughly and evenly; no need to open oven and stir! and hence,
3. More efficient use of the heat and therefore improved battery performance ( cheers @NickDlow )

I'm a tad bothered by the tiny bits of concentrate pad in my ABV so I'm gonna wrap the concentrate pad in a pipe screen. Also, I saw a video with a guy using 2 extra Pax screens (one as a cover and one bent as a spring) to fill the extra space in the oven instead of the concentrate pad style. Any thoughts on that?

That is exactly what I do and it works great although I have never used the concentrate pad to compare. I grind very fine and then fill half the oven or sometimes even less and my ABV all comes out nicely roasted. If I have especially sticky herb then I still stir once during the cycle.

The 2 extra pax screens are the way to go, they are made for it and already fit perfectly. I don't understand why you'd use anything else unless you don't have extra pax screens handy. I've NEVER stirred my load and they always come out very uniform. My sessions usually last about a half hour though(about 10 minutes each color), so that might have something to do with how uniform my abv is.

I've tried the double screen method and IMO I'm not a fan. Yea it works but I'm good with it, I personally prefer the volcano pad but def try each way and pick the one u like. Messing around with those screens kinda takes the simplicity away for me. I just want to load and use real quick, so bending and keeping track of the screens each time takes away from the simple factor for me. But def try if like to hear which u prefer

What's the best way to use the ABV that you get out of your Pax? I have a ton already

Best? that's subjective. Easiest? I like firecrackers. The Cooking with Cannabis thread has all sorts of what you are looking for. Making QWISO or BHO with your ABV is probably more effective, but not as easy. Easiest of all might be swampwater.

IMO it doesn't get much easier then the pax screens. Yes you have to bend 1 of the screens, but only once. After you dump the load the screens fit perfectly right back in the oven. I guarantee I can load mine as fast as anyone else using a spacer. Plus I doubt ANY other spacer will make as good of contact with the load that the pax screen does.

Yea the volcano screen lol it's steel wool. IMO it prob let's air flow better cuz it's not a solid piece of ss. Also when u compress it the surface area increases so the contact is just as good if not better IMO. But everyone has an opinion. I'm just saying I've tried both and I picked the one I like. Until u try it u can't really knock it

I'm definitely not trying to knock the Volcano pads, I'm sure they work as good as you say. I was knocking your statement about the pax screens not being simple. Your theory about the Volcano pad making more contact with the load makes a lot of sense though. Since I don't have a Volcano pad I have a question. Do you get good compression against the load, no matter the size of the load? If so then I might purchase some. With the pax screens I can adjust the bent screen a little depending on the size of the load.

If u cut it to size and leave it as compact as it comes the thickness is a little move than half the oven which is good for me. I usually don't load more than half anyway. You could fluff it up if u wanted to use less I guess.

Looks like Ploom finally got rid of those annoying mouthpiece lube packets.

It also has a brush applicator.

Oh that is much better than using a paper clip to keep the little packets closed while I store them.

so - on using the Volcano pad ... I have a few of these since I don't use them with my 'cano. I'm guessing you cut the pad in the shape of the oven? I've been packing my Pax ultra full but feel like some is being wasted as I don't stir the oven and dump it after a few hits. If using the cano pad means I can pack it tight about half full and place the pad on top, I will definitely give that a try.
