Flash mode sounds like flashing a new firmware to it, like a software upgrade.
Actually, if the coil happens to be touching itself, the device will go into a mode that will deactivate the coil from heating and possibly charging I have found. You will know it's in this mode when you plug your charger in and the inhale light flashes a few times. To remedy, you must first, very carefully, adjust the coil so it's not touching itself and shorting the current. Then connect the Elevape to your PC and then launch ipuff advanced configuration application and select your device. Switch to flash mode and then back to vape mode, this will reset the Elevape and allow you to vape and charge again.

Hmmm, so maybe I have an older app version somehow? I did download from the link, and in the zip file it had a mac version too so I thought that meant it was most recent version? But isn't the battery showing 0-100 for some now?

Don't get me wrong, when I first tried my Elevape I had amazing results, it actually wasn't until I connected to the app, with higher settings, that I had the draw and combust issues. But apparently that was due to low battery and technique expirmentation? Obviously its still plenty early and I will find a way to make it consistent for me eventually...

Otherwise all my cons ate pretty much the same as everyone else mentioned: stirring, screen getting clogged (mentioned how I want to go to hardware store to see if I can find a little metal disc, with holes in it, the same size as screen. I'd like to make the lid more like the T1 lid with out a mesh screen, one I can just poke clear with a toothpick/stir tool on the go...), and battery level indicator on the device. Still a work in progress, but it launched out the gate with a LOT of pre-progress, a nice head start!

My experience was almost the same as Shit Shacks'. Once I combusted and started playing with the temperatures, it all gone downhill.

I also had the no heating after cleanup issue, but that's gone now. It was a little more like I cleaned it and did not use it for a while. It stopped heating until I plugged it in again.

By the way, what did the unit ship with for temp settings? I will try to put it back to where it was and hope for the best.

By the way, I sawed off the screen and stuff attached to the lid. My lid now is just one flat piece of metal that's super easy to open for stirring. I just blow in the mouthpiece to clear and did without the screen. Maybe that screwed the whole unit up. I don't know.

EDIT: I just tried pulling while covering the USB hole. It seems to make it better. Still has the crappy taste from previous combustion. Hate that.

This also has become my go to vaporizer. The flash feature saved me already once...Right now using the beta software and it has been treating me great. Glad to see more units getting out to people.

Dompang I think the lid screen and the way it channel the air might be important...replacement lids are for sale might be worth getting a new one?

Things I added was a 6 foot cord an a portable battery charger makes a great little system when I am off the grid.

Mine is actually working fine now, just took it for a walk and had it only at my 1 (which is still at 11/350F) and was able to go through pretty much the whole bowl with some darkened spots like T1, since I stirred every 3 hits, or 4 a couple times, shared between two people for a nice 30min-ish dog walk. Haven't gotten to inspect the load too much yet but it seems near spent, just bc of a few uneven spots. I think I'm/we're still working or the exact draw, so I think I'm going to go back to the lower temps and ill have 10 or 11 be my medium. I did get great hits friday night on 21/405 and 16/380 but had 3 combusts too so I think I need to keep it low for a while so I can hone my draw.

I think my issue is just the battery level, which others have experienced, but I think @sasNW has his accurate now? Its odd that we can't all have an updated app, it should be updating automatically like most software... And I did download the most recent link as well.

So @dompang yours is like the opposite of @chillersnov8p 's in a way? Since he relies on the o ring seal with no magnets, and you have no o ring/extension at all and rely on the magnets completely. That's interesting and may be easier to stir as well with the extra room? But doesn't herb clog the little channels bowl panel?

I'm planning on hitting the hardware store up later with my lid and screen/screw to see of there's anything useful there....

I think you have some problems with your unit because you sawed off the screen from the lid, the one time I tried vaping without the screen in the lid, I got almost no vapor and it clogged immediately. Alot of the herbs went up into the lid part and could not get heated up enough to vaporize.
Cleaning it with a cotton swab and some 99% alcohol gets rid of the bad taste.

@belgienvapor I also have the old software, tried to download the new version from http://ipuffusa.com/technology.php but just got the same version as before ... not sure what I'm missing here.

@dompang I think @HerbieVonVapster is right about the air flow... the magnetic lid looks like its got a nice enough seal on it, but the fact that they use a plastic o ring to seal off the chamber says otherwise.

@Shit Snacks The general consensus does seems to put the constant stirring and fast clogging lid screen as the main hardware issues. The bright side to that being that this could be something fixed by a lid modification, and so it's great to see all the mod talk about this already!

Speaking of clogged lid screen...isn't all that build up something we can reclaim? At minimum that center circular perforated column hidden behind the lid screen (The one around the center screw, which I don't quite understand it's purpose) could be removed so that'd be easier to scrap off all that resin.

What link did you download a Mac version from?

Only thing I can find on their website is the PC version. Been waiting to hear about a Mac version, but must have missed it if it was posted here.

Didn't download it, it was in the zip file in a folder with the windows version

That seems to hit the jackpot. Makes sense that I am having all these draw speed difficulties since the air flow is now messed up. It also sounds like about combustion, since the intended air flow is reduced. I will try to put a piece of paper under the lid to reduce leak. Having to remove the original lid to stir that often is a deal breaker for me.

By the way, it would be great if you can make a comparison with Indica and Inhalator, two units that I also find very interesting.

Unfortunately not any longer. Must still be working the bugs out.

Ah maybe I'll re-download my app again. Then maybe I will get accurate battery levels and this new flash feature?

Wasn't able to make it to the hardware store after all, so for now I'll be sticking to the default set up. I'm really intrigued by the possibility of a screw that instead of a hex/whatever has a little bent metal (like those right angle hooks for hanging certain frames etc, or maybe even a hook screw would work?!), if it was tiny enough, exactly right size, then you could just turn the lid a few times to stir while rotating the Elevape. The issue is going to be finding one that size, it seems like it would have to be custom, but it seems like it would be worth trying. This is probably only a slight variation of what others have suggested, but maybe someone will finally be able to make it a reality?

Awhile ago I asked Joe if it would be possible to replace the screw in the lid with a longer bent screw so if you turn the lid, you stir, he said they have been playing with that exact same idea but it seemed to clog up the screen in the lid even faster so they decided not to go that way.
I think they should add it to the accesories, so you can choose between having to clean the screen more often and not having to stir every two pulls or just leave it like it is.

This stirring business is really a turn-down... otherwise this vape seems to have a lot of positive points!

Is this problem happening with all convections vapes? I reckon I got to do it with my Firewood if I want to extract completely, and I recall reading in the LSV thread they have the same "black in the middle" problem if they don't stir...

Going for the express shipping has paid off and my Elevape is already here! I can't believe how fast it's flown over the ocean. First impressions, the packaging is really nice and the unit looks really well made. It looks nicer in real life than the pictures. I'm charging now via my PC - I've installed the app but it hasn't shown the device on the app yet. I don't want to unplug the cable and disturb the first charge so I'll play around again when that's done.

I think I can clear up some of the confusion on the Mac version of the app though. It looks like the PC version of the app has been zipped up on a Mac. This creates a folder in the zip that contains metadata for Mac use that is usually hidden, but it's visible when you open the zip in Winzip. I think that must be what @Shit Snacks saw, it's not actually a Mac version of the software unfortunately.

If you charge with the wall charger, it will take much less time to completely charge. It may not show on the app if the USB cable is not inserted all the way. Enjoy elevavaping! :science:

Yes I recalled reading that, my other goal is to find a metal disk with several holes in it instead of the mesh screen. Ultimately Elevape may have to create that and the bent screw for us to ever have either, but I think they would make the stirring easier to deal with as we said, and also easier to deal with cleaning as well.

You mean something like this? I don't think it's the correct size but maybe he got more sizes?

Hmm, yea those look interesting. But definitely too small (and too many! lol). For now I think I'm gonna stick to default lid set up until I get my technique down, and/or until Elevape creates some of their own.

Have my temps set to 3,8,13 now and haven't combusted yet, but haven't gotten to test too much yet either. Getting very light tastiness at 3 though, not much visible vapor though ofcourse (but I did even see a tiny bit on the first draw!). Will be able to continue soon...

Been going well at setting 8 tonight so far. Got the 3 sec prime, 8 sec draw technique working so it helps so we get a hit, and don't combust

My hubby pointed out to me that, continuing to draw after the light blinks is clearing the airpath.
So, okay, now I'm extending a bit into the blink zone. We'll see if that affects cleanliness of airpath.

I've been trying to get the hang of it, but so far I seem to be having similar experiences as @dompang is having. Even with it set on 25 for example, I don't seem to be able to produce very impressive clouds. If I use dompang's sipping method, I can get big clouds sometimes, but they do have that hint of combustion flavour to them. I replicated the bubbler setup from earlier in the thread but couldn't get it to milk anywhere close to what the video was showing. I haven't modified my unit at all, I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with it.
