Help my purge

I tried that with the last batches and I would describe the taste of them as almost burn hair. Very bad. I do get bho from a dispensary and have lit it up and ive seen it light up but not like this. Big time sparkled. Anyways that was two old batches, if I have the same problem with this one I will film it and post it.( I would have to figure out how to post a video for that). @farscaper thanks for the info tips, those two batches had me feeling like I would never figure this out.

The bigest difference in my process and everyone else's, is my starting material is mostly leaves. (I didn't think that would make it harder to purge butane)

Current batch is still forming and popping bubbles as I flip and leave at full vac. I have the same pump as @DieHard. ive been nervous over work it because it is getting hot. Any insight into how long I can fun my pump at a time diehard
Garbage in, garbage out. If you are talking a bag of schwag leaves, I would expect bad taste. If you are using sugary trim , I would expect better flavor. I use only top-shelf flowers as that's what's available.

hmmmm... well let me just lay these thoughts out... trim can be ok to run... but fan leaves never are. if there arnt trichomes on the material I wont run it... hell I dont even keep it.

2... sourcing... hate to say it but if I were buying starting product I would avoid anyone selling leaves... being the bulk of the plants power generation and energy storage they are the mkst likely to contain both unclaimed nutrients and massive amounts of any type of sprayed on pesticides...

not saying your source has these issues... but if dealing in their garbage its good to know how good it is.

I think you haveva pretty good looking product for leaves though for real!

oh and ditch that oil slick pad for direct purging.

A big thank you both as usual. They do have trichs decently coated. Very occasional popcorn nug a little sugar trim. But a lot of trich covered leaves. The first picture on this thread is of the bag of starting material. I understand quantity, quality out. But this starting material is all free, to be split in half. (Lemonade) if not smokable than i can make canna caps. Im not looking for good tastes, ive actually just been expecting almost soggy leaf flavor. But I was not expecting it to always fail a lighter test and sparkle like something explosive is in it.

Soon I will taste the current batch and udate

When my phone starts woking right I will upload pictures. Also I wanted to upload a video but that wasnt working. Is youtube the best way?

Anyways I think it looks great. I lit some on fire and is melted about half of its size and then sparkled right up. I tried a dab and it wasnt to bad, but an unplant like flavor was still there slightly. Still pretty smooth though. What do you guys think I should do? For now I will work on at least getting you the pictures

Sence Thursday night minus some down time but I think its safe to say a least 48 hours. I really wish I could figure out how to upload this video to show to you guy how it slowly melts till it flares. But when i dab it it didnt glow or jump on the nail.

Maybe I am misinformed, but I didn't think you were supposed to blast onto oil slick pads, since the silicone will come off into the bho

Almost? I guess I wasn't as lucky, lol. Also something is wrong with the slick pad. It has a couple of spots it sticks to. Those spots are not as glossy as the rest. I dont know if it came like that or I caused it.

they degrade pretty quick... thats why I usually suggest parchment over the slickpad... but the ptfe rolls are pretty pimp too. but parchment remains the best non stick option for scraping in my opinion. and running strait onto ptfe rolls works great but has its own limitations and hang ups.

ohhh ive split my finger a few times... not in a while... and not at all since switching to ptfe roll.

Just wanted to update the moral of this story. I thought I was making unpurged bho, what I actually made was good bho FOR THE STARTING MATERIALS I USED. It had a lot of fan leaves, which I know know do not flush as well as the buds. So, the taste I was tring to purge out was really just nutrients left in the leaves. One batch wasnt so bad and I couldnt taste the off flavor wth my vape pen. I used 2 grams and just look at it now as I did the best with what I had.

Dont feel like you cant make bho because you dont have the best starting material but dont expect the best bho. Honestly I surprised I made a shatter with the leaves.
