CO trip. Herb transport?

Hi,
I may go to CO in Sept and was originally going to drive. If that was the case, I'd have no qualms about bringing back some aromatic herbs in my vehicle.

Now my wife is not going and driving 900 miles by myself seems like a bad idea. There are some cheap flights. This leaves only two options as I see and both seem bad to me:
1. ship/ mail herbs back to my home. Which carrier, US mail or UPS or FedEx?
2. carry / pack them. Which is better, in a checked bag or in a carry on bag?

I don't like either of these options. Thoughts??

Yeah, I don't think you'll want to do either.

you must really wanna go to jail. number one may work but your not a professional, one contaminated sealing bag you may get a love letter from the state.

First off, are you a medical patient in the state you'll be flying into from Colorado? If you are, I'd be comfortable bringing weed back either in a carry on or a packed bag along with your current medical marijuana recommendation. I don't think TSA really gives a shit about small quantities of weed anymore especially for medical patients. I do it all of the time flying to and from San Diego.

You will be risking too much flying with herb. If you want to transport it back that bad I would drive IMO.

Seal it in a zip lock container shipping tape to seal the lid to container and mail it priority mail or fed ex. I e heard fed ex is better.

They will take the weed in the airport I know some people who went with 3kids.
They didn't vacuum seal anything and it was confiscated. No trouble though.

Yeah, that's pretty much the worst case scenario IMHO.. And if you included a copy of your recommendation along with your personal use meds; I think the chance of confiscation would be extremely low. One time I had my checked bag inspected ( you know that form in your suitcase telling you you're bag has been inspected). I had about a quarter ounce in two small jars in a ziplock bag along with my medical recommendation. My stash was visible immediately upon opening the suitcase. No problem!!

I don't think confiscating small amounts of personal medical MJ from patients is a top priority for the TSA regardless of federal law.

I am in washington right now.i dumped my herbs before i flew from denver to here. even though i was informed by a dispensary employee in Seattle on arrival The T S A are not interested in herbs in either denver or seattle airport .We had K9s over our carry on waiting for the detectors in Denver.I travelled clean on flights all my gear iso washed and in my check in luggage.
I would nt bother carrying unless youre medical card and feel You may be able to swing it if discovered.

thats my info on flights.

hotels in both states

i vaped in non smoking hotels right through both states.I stayed in one smoking room for 2 nights and I have sworn I'll never do it again.Room stank from stale smoke. We are vapor heads so I dont see any issue vaping.its clean for goodness sake.maybe carry a scent bomb spray available in some service stations for odour to keep youre room fresh if You have a concern.

On the road its all changing and becoming much more chilled in both CO and WA but reading about driving into surrounding states idaho and wyoming utah the HP are being forced to clamp down on drivers coming from medical states because of their stance on prohibition.that was my reason to fly and not spend any of my vacation money in those states.how much of that press is media scare tactics I dont know.but they, those prohibition strong states will have to learn the hard way im afraid and lose out on revenue and trade.thats how im looking at it.

No medical card then I seriously would nt bother driving interstate into if you can help it,have some edibles before You go or take a concentrate pen at worst and get fixed up in each state.

for anyone travelling here in WA the recreational scene is in its infancy and is starved of product..medical seems fine though, lots of vendors.

recreational shops are open mainly at the weekend in WA because they sell out so quick and there is not much supply.Concentrates and edibles are a dream here right now REC and not happening at all.Big demand I m being told and no supply. This is all changing very quickly.while i was here in WA new REC shops were opening up on future dates all around us.

a Rec eight cost me $100 in WA.....$35 in CO.Go figure.

CO on the other hand has plenty of REC product and Conc and eds .

most dispensaries in CO carry much more medical product than REC product.REC counters I visited carry 3 or 4 top shelf strains shatter budder and ediblesq compared to maybe a dozen or more strains for medical.

Finally outand about and living here in Denver most hotels are non smoking.its not good to spark up on the street in denver although You will work it out. Some state parks or gardens are federal so illegal to carry anything there.Saying that I visited parks baked all over both states and into columbia gorge oregon  and I wasn t even looked at twice or stopped on my travels..very few P cars even as i travelled.

be careful and weigh up the personal risks and make a decision.

personally i would nt mail anything and would definitely put anything into check in luggage versus carry on if i had too.

oh and take some Jyarz for your e product .the dispensary containers leach odour and stink youre luggage out.Jyarz work really well to keep youre herbs both fresh and smellproof and away from nosey people even in a queue in a hotel check in.

Finally my experience speaking to folks in Colorado is most are for legal, some are hating esp the military types i met. They are working for the machine after all so thats not surprising.Colorado still feels like an experiment WA seemed much more chilled about it all but it was hempfest weekend here just goneso that was gonna be a certain anyway.

After travelling through two recreational states I really find it hard to understand in this day and age what all the fuss is about regarding this simple humble plant. It adds to the flavour and diversities of both these states WA and CO.

God speed the planet and allow common sense to prevail.

Good luck!

IF I was to try something as risky as mailing weed across state lines (a federal felony), I would take more precautions than that. Seal the baggie inside a non-glass thermos. Add herbal tea bags, and unused bounce dryer sheets inside and out. And don't mail anything that you can't afford to lose for good.
