Is this mold, or something else?

So I picked up what I thought was some nice looking bud, until I picked off a leaf and looked at the inside edge of it, and it has these weird blotches that look like eggs, or mold.

Anyone experienced able to identify this? Thanks.
Near the top of the leaf is what I am talking about.

This is how the leaf looked on the other side, if you were looking at the bud normally.

Damn, unfortunately is nearly impossible to get an exact answer to what it is without a closer look. Sorry man wish I could be of more help... If you are worried about vaping it there are always other ways to use contaminated bud though

Are those fibers on the stem, different than the rest of the bud? I'm thinking spider mites and the color change could be mildew or from co2, etc. from trying to extract the mites. I'm guessing the color changes are not due to your typical lighting or temp changes. Interesting...

Had some recently that looked burnt. The green buds turned black also.:hmm: I don't want anymore of that crap!

Spider mites is one thing you will be able to identify without magnification. If the fibers on the stem are different like SSvun suggested, then crack that nug open and inspect for more web fibers near the main stem in the center of the nug... Those little assholes love it there also.... God I hate those things, I've had to cook down a full pound a few harvests ago when those bastards came in while I was on vacation.

But the white "moldy" type stuff on the bottom of the fan leaves is certainly not spider mites, that I am still guessing is a mold/mildew. Also that color could come from a drastic temp drop at nights for sure.. But who knows at this point:2c:

I would suggest trimming of all the inner sugar leaves from the bud and inspecting, mold tends to spread from the sugar leaves into the bud. So pulling out some sugar leaves will help identify how far into your buds the contaminant has gone.

You can also water cure as a last resort

You would definitely notice a spider mite infestation so you should be good there. Plus this little bastards go up like fireworks when combusted... Don't ask how I know this:puke:

Most likely some mildew that caught on the last couple weeks of flowering that the grower didn't catch. Clean off every single fan leaf, and any leaf that looks questionable. Like everyone says, if you can see mold then the spores have already made it into your bud. So use at your own risk, but I've consumed far worse looking I'm my years and never had a single ill effect. Again YMMV

yeah that was just my thinking. I only picked up an eighth(and shared half with someone) and I have had much much worse in the past, I am just going to vape it up. If you don't see me again you know what happened!

edit: thanks alot for the info guys.

If you have a bunch, I would get a loop 20x and up like sasNW suggested, there are plenty on amazon and eBay. Some even light up so you don't have to hold it up to a light source. You might shit your pants, bc honestly looking at multiple strains is like going into a tropical rain forest, it's such a treat if you've never seen it up close and personal. After that 2nd pic I agree with sasNW, go for it, or at the least maybe dry ice or qwiso/ethyl extraction, good luck!

A Jewelers loop is a great $20 investment (easily cheaper also) for both this issue and like SSvun said, it's great to get stoned and take a close up look at what you got:D Plus it can help you identify what type of high you will get

Solod out.
I was about to create a similar thread a few months ago when I got some weed that looked exactly like that. I even tried to take a picture, but I had the exact same issue. In the end I decided to just remove most of the leaves and vape it. I always thought legalization would happen in Canada before the US, when will we wake up?

Why not treat this mold/mildew like any other vegetable you consume? Remove any bad spots/pieces and consume it. I'm old enough to remember when people actually cleaned pot, and it came in bricks, 10-50 lb. sacks, etc., and dealing with mold was just normal. And you can't go wrong putting it in a more conduction-type vaporizer, which will reliably sterilize/kill everything, including spores, well before reaching vaporization temperatures.

But it looks like that particular leaf is too far gone, and should be trashed or just put in with your ABV.

Those first photos look sickening to me. If it was food I would not eat it, but it's weed and I would most likely vape it anyway.. Better than the shit we get in my hometown.

Oh wow, I gotta tell you, as much I like fucking combustion, I might be more apt to burn that than vape it. I would think anything dangerous would go away much easier/cleaner by combusting it.

You don't suck on the burning end so whatever good comes of burning seems negated to me. Life is filled with odd molds and pollutions. If it don't kill ya.....

As someone who lived in mold and still feels sick from mold I would not **** with that personally.

Imo that looks gross.
