Chip-chip old spoons.

Good to see this handy thread still barrelling along. Just wanted to thank the regulars on here for convincing me to get a Solo. Everyone I share it with buys one of their own. As a consequence, 6 of my friends have stopped smoking completely. Lives are being extended! Good lives (mostly)!

I get higher than ever, using less than half the bud, while tasting things I never knew were there. Love my red wine too, the appreciation of nuances and styles, but it's not in the same league.

My current practice, for what it's worth-
  1. Overfill the (gauze-free) bowl of a stock glass stem with slightly dry, ground-up, excellent bud.
  2. Go through a cycle on 3 or 4.
  3. Go through a cycle on 6 or 7.
  4. Tap the vaped bud into mouth (I am a disgusting individual, but there's still goodness in there that vaping can't liberate. With some varieties this is disgusting, but with many there are nice flavours).
  5. Every ~10 days, swap to a new stem.
  6. After 30 days, ideally on a sunny weekend morning, drink a very hot, creamy hot chocolate through the 3 stems (I've found that much of the potency is lost into the air within a minute or so if I throw the stems in a pan of e.g. hot cream).
  7. Commune with the reality of your choice.
The 'cleaned' stems then go in the dishwasher, and come out sparkling.

I have a question though - I've seen occasional reference to vaping bud 'wet'. Does this really mean freshly plucked from a plant? I have to say, I've given it a go in the past (once for me, then to humour friends), and it really, really didn't work. To the point where it's just implausible- there's too much trapped sap keeping everything soggy & cold even if you could inhale through it. Has anyone got experience otherwise?

Peace and Fun to you all!

I confess I have been forced to use "quick dried" immature bud that was really not dry. Tastes crappy.
Have to agree; right off the plant just doesn't work.

Properly dried and cured top shelf bud is always best.
The Solo makes it taste incredible.

Dry = stems

Wet = bubbler, bong, etc. water path!

@Burt: Curious about #1. You say you "overfill" a guaze free bowl? How does that overfill work? Do you tamp it down after obviously? And without a screen, doesn't the dry ground bud end up in your stem and mouth? That's one thing I have never been able to do, even with whole nugs, is use the stems stock without a screen. IMO the Solo stems NEED a screen! It's just a huge pet peeve of mine to get any sort of bud in my mouth, unless it's that delcious taste of sucking up the bud through the stem to load it. Yum.

I use the stem to scoop up ground bud from a grinder, press it down with my little finger, scoop again, such that there is ~4 millimetres of bud sticking out, then load it into the Solo. I imagine that the muffin-style top is further compressed against the steel. I've tried the suck-to-load method, but without a gauze it just comes straight through.

How dry/resinous the bud is, determines how tightly packed it can go before I get diminishing returns, but for most Sativa strains I slightly over-dry, and can load in 0.20g. Less with sticky stuff, and I'm yet to find a satisfactory method for QWISO or similar.

Some bud does come through the holes but never gets into my mouth (it used to very occasionally, before I had the bowl-filling dialled) - I'd have to use a gauze if it did. After ~10 days, about 5% of a bowlsworth will be stuck to the walls of the stem, but nearly all in the first inch, and none in the last. I actually bought a box of 500 screens along with my first Solo, based on others' experience as detailed here, but I used a few, then decided they were hampering rather than helping. No criticism of other methods implied - I can tell many are getting excellent results with different techniques.

Hey guys I have a question. I was almost sold on this vaporizer until I realized what I really need a portable vaporizer for. I've heard many great things on this vape and wish it was the one for me. Anyways I need a vape that's discreet where I can quickly smoke it is public, or even in doors, and something I can quickly pull out of my pocket and take a puff. I'm thinking either the pax or pinnacle pro may be the way for me, maybe even a inh05. What are peoples thoughts on those three portables?
Thanks in advance

The Solo is definitely the least discreet. For your usage scenarios I would recommend you go with the Pax. I've never tried the inh05 so can't comment (looks sweet though), and the Pinnacle pro, while small enough, looks nowhere near as 'generic digital item' as the pax.

You may want to look at the Elevape. From the reviews coming in, it may be exactly what you're looking for. On sale at Vapornation, but still a little on the high end for a portable at $270.
I also recommend having any pocket vape in a zip lock in your pocket, to avoid smell or a mess from accidental opening.

<edit> Just want to clarify, the Solo is ALWAYS my first recommended vape, but your conditions were specific.
The Solo rules!

This is off-topic for this thread. If you can't find a comparison of these in Ask FC or ABV, you can start a thread on it. I will say that none of the devices you mentioned can be quickly pulled from your pocket for a discreet puff. All of them have a warmup time.

Stocked up on 2 PVHE GonGs and other Solo goodies on PV. Usually get Turbo GonGs but they're still not in stock so I figured I'd give a non Turbo a spin. Still no FC discount.
The epicvape adjustabowl stems work with the nano and are open bore basically. Never done it but I know a few on here who use it with great results. Also @purplekush604 the solo can be stealth. Just put it in a McDonald's cup.

FWIW, this is the similar bag I'm using:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pcs...e-waterproof-Soft-Camera-Size/1891974585.html

It's a little confusing, but that's five bucks (shipped) for a pair of them. Plenty of room for the Solo, stem, stash and bits and pieces. Very handy. Pretty good protection from bumps and bangs too, IMO.

Bought today. Thanks OF for the recommendation. FYI I have heard of aliexpress charging CC later on so keep an eye on it! IDK have common it is and I have ordered from them before with no problems.

Took your recommendation but ordered from ebay. I needed a better case badly.

Flower + oil at level 4 through water path =
Sounds like civilized medication!
. Man I wish the government over here in Fraggle Rock would legalise this wonderful plant. Oil,shatter ,concentrates dabs etc are just not available. Only time I get good solids is with my bubble bags. Street weed is variable. This thread and the other thread I follow make me wanna sell up and move over the pond. Anyway back on topic. I'm wanting to use my solo through water and wand a D020. But there seems to be many variations of it. I'm gonna use dhgate and the shop is sunshine store. What would be best for solo( and eNano) use? Any one able to post a link? My laptop broke and I'm usin an antiquated phone so I can't post any links. Sorry. And thank you in advance.

How in the hell do I manage to simply lose my Solo wall charger? I have turned my house and vehicle upside down like five times, and I cannot find it! My Solo is now Nomo. :(

So...best place to pick up a replacement charger? Ugh! I hate spending money on things I shouldn't need to buy!

Bummer. The 'issue' is the smaller than normal connector used (EIAJ-02, 1.7X4mm). It's being used outside it's official voltage range (3.15 to 6 Volts) so Wall Wart makers don't normally supply one at 12 Volts for fear of blowing up cell phones and stuff.

Aside from another factory one (from PIU or PV?) you can also go to Radio Shack who sells an adapter tip for their universal 12 Volt supply:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3780266

You can also contact Pipes who has several options for you.

Good luck.

Thanks OF! I just know the minute I order a new charger, I will find mine. Seems to always work that way.

That adapter tip is in stock at my local RS, though, so at least I could get it going today. Is something like this what I would want to pair with?
