Wow so many options. I am overwhelmed. I have a lot of ABV. What is the easiest way to get medicated off of it, without a huge list of instructions to get the job done? If possible the easiest and if even more achievable a method where I do not taste it. I tried ABV Milkshake. And maybe I did it wrong because it tasted like something I would never eat no matter how medicated it got me. So I am sure I failed.

I've heard if you do a low slow extraction in a crockpot with coconut oil you can fill up gelatine capsules and a couple
of those are very nice. If caps are too much of a hassle I wonder if you could just refrigerate in a thin layer and use something small like a pen cap to punch out tiny rounds and store in fridge or freezer. Those would be like tablets.

I HAVE A CROCKPOT! I HAVE THE OIL. Now we are talking. How many hours? Amount Oil Per Gram? This sounds really easy. :D

Hi @Jeremy Driscoll I am so glad you are up for an experiment! Check out Old Hippie on Beyond Chronic http://beyondchronic.com/2011/01/how-to-make-your-own-canna-caps/ because he loves his canna caps, talks about the math using decarboxylated unvaped herb. I believe he has done it with AVB and would probably share his discoveries and ideas if you emailed him (or maybe he already has and has written about it but I am not looking at the right place on his site as I have not been reading it regularly enough lately). The notion of not capping them is mine; I am not sure if it would work but I was thinking if you froze little circles of it you could skip the capping step, but this is theoretical. I am a cook and have had good luck freezing all kinds of things for simplicity and reuse later.

I also am kind of craving this gizmo: http://magicalbutter.com/, Magical Butter, for doing temperature-controlled extraction (i.e., with fresh herb you could either decarboxylate or leave it in the acid form, in whatever medium you chose in the machine: butter, olive oil, coconut oil, whole cream, whatever).

Good luck and let us all know how it works. It is a shame to throw out the ABV. I was saving it awhile but got impatient and threw it out. Now I am reinspired. Despite the lack of flavor I bet you could make something yummy with it by extracting it with different herbs, for example: cinnamon, clove, cardamom, nutmeg, black pepper, etc., or cocoa nibs? With the first five you could dissolve it into a chai (simmered black tea in whole milk), with the cocoa nibs you could dissolve into cocoa, for example. Set up a little stand in your front yard, all the neighbors will be over! ;)

I made an ABV extract the other day using the QWET(Quick Wash Ethanol Tecnique):http://skunkpharmresearch.com/qwet-extraction/
Easy to do. I had to modify the procedure a bit; I used to much ABV and too little alcohol, so I had to use a press. Put the resulting oil in a pan and evaporated off the alcohol/water.
I scraped off a little with a razor blade and made an herb sandwhich for my Solo:sweet dreams:zzz:.

@Dr. Soxhlet thank you so much for this link. This is potentially less messy than oil extraction. And the site has all kinds of wonderful things in it. Now I know what I will be doing for the next half hour (surfing it). It's funny, I wonder why we do not see cannabis being extracted in its own oil? We can get pretty good cold pressed hempseed oil; it seems there might be some important synergy from ingesting more parts of the plant together . . . . Take care and happy times in the kitchen and otherwise.

I use the method in this thread for whole cannabis extractions, but ABV can also be used. Nearly everything in the plant is extracted this way:http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/soxhlet-extractors.13349/.

The absolute easiest way to use ABV (and I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet in this thread) is on reheated leftover PIZZA. Just follow these simple steps:
  1. Sprinkle ABV on slice of leftover pizza.
  2. Reheat in microwave or toaster Oven.
  3. Enjoy!
That really is all it takes! It's only good for re-heating pizza, though - baking a raw pizza (home-made or take-and-bake) needs to be done at too high a temperature and would destroy the remaining cannabinoids. OTOH, this is extremely stealth -- if you keep some ABV in the kitchen in a spice shaker, you could easily use it in plain view without raising suspicion (just keep track of which slice is the "special" one if also serving "plain" pizza) and it just looks like oregano or whatever on the slice. Oh, and when sprinkling, try to get the ABV only on the cheesy parts. If the pizza is loaded with pepperoni, for example, pick them off, then sprinkle ABV, then re-apply the pepperoni.

ummm...........for some odd reason, that doesn't sound very appetizing.

That's a great way to ruin pizza for me. Probably not a bad thing, since I eat so much of it.

Believe it or not, it's hardly noticeable, at least to me. You're just sprinkling a bit on - maybe 1/4 - 1/2 tsp per slice - not saturating it. Granted, everybody's taste buds are different, and YMMV, but I'd say it's worth a try, at least. Worst case you waste a slice of leftover pizza and a pinch of ABV.

Since it's already discombobulated can't you just eat it without infusing it in fat? Like sprinkle it on corn flakes or something? Be the worst tasting corn flakes, but you get what I'm asking. :)

Actually, no. The chemicals we are interested in are soluble in fats. For our digestive system to get them into our bloodstream, they must be in the fat. While you could just eat the plant material, the absorption would be minimal. When dissolved in fat, they are much more efficiently absorbed.

Or something like that. I'm not a biochemist, or any kind of chemist, for that matter. I'm sure someone who knows more (or at least is a better explainer) than I will jump in if I've gotten it all wrong, but bottom line is that fat is needed for effective edibles.

Eat ABV with some peanut butter. Use whole milk to drink after. I've used ABV in a milkshake with peanut butter too. Need to have fat with the ABV.

FWIW........ ABV?? send yours to me.I have aMB2 and make the most ass kicking oil for edibles with it. Cant taste it in brownie mix, maybe because its just the oil with out the slurry of ABV.The unit does well.I throw it in set it at 160 degrees hit 8 hr button, set my watch and go about my biz, come home, siphon off enough to make a batch of brownies(duncan hines decadence with walnuts yummy) 1/2 gets you nice, a whole gets you couch locked. great for pain and sleep.I understand those that Norris it but you may reconsider, but I also might add, my ABV looks spent, I use a Solo most of the time on 6-7 thru water tools so the stuff gets extracted but yet the slow cook at low temps does the trick in producing some great oil. .......YMMV

* MB2 lazy mans crockpot, honestly 150 bucks for one and you can do a lot of good things with it.I made some natural orange oil with it, which is a super all natural flea repellant/killer for my dogs.I dont use the nuero toxins that big vet pharma pushes on TV as of lately. You can make some ass kick'n tinctures as well, made some salad oil with some mids and whoa doggie, 2 tbls of it on the salad and by the time meal was over you were cruising real nice. DONT Norris your abv save it up, I used some that was almost a year old, kept it in a glass mason jar, it was fine. I use the MB alot with mids, cheap to buy but makes great butta, oil, tincts, the real nice dank bud, VAPED and only the abv will be used from that grade of MJ .IMO the high end material is too good to use in food, but for those who can afford to, all the power to you.

and here i thought for some reason you didn't eat pizza ? Avb or not.

I don't anymore, and I don't for the same reasons that I don't do cocaine or eat ice cream anymore. I just don't have any control over those substances, but that doesn't mean that I wouldn't shed a tear if I saw a pound of coke thrown into the wind...........or a perfectly good slice of pizza being rolled around in the mud, or a pint of Ben & Jerry's left out in the sun to melt.

FWIW........ ABV?? send yours to me.

Ya know what's weird? I have no problem in passing a joint around, but cooking with someone else's ABV kinda grosses me out. :puke:

I like making coconut oil out of my ABV - but use a simplified manual method. As a lover of technology and kitchen gadgets, I've seen (and drooled over) the Magic Butter machine, and almost pulled the trigger a couple times. What's holding me back is the size of the unit. I tend to make relatively small batches of oil from similarly small quantities of ABV. The MB2's smallest batch size is huge by comparison. Yeah, I've read you can make smaller batches by adding water to make up the difference, but adding water to weed just doesn't seem right.

If they made a smaller version, I'd be all over it. Heck, I'm still tempted - I figure I could just make a bigger batch (maybe even throwing in some low-grade fresh bud if I can't wait to save up enough ABV) than I normally do, as I imagine the oil keeps well and doesn't lose potency sitting in the fridge?

In any case, you're right about using oil in edibles being much tastier than using "whole" abv. Especially that you aren't adding any extra "texture" to it. And it tastes better. The ABV coconut oil I make is actually pleasant to just eat off a spoon!

I suggested the pizza trick (which I use myself often) in response to someone wanting to know the absolute easiest way to get some medicinal value back out of their ABV, and it doesn't get much easier than sprinkling it on pizza.

Here's an idea, maybe it's just because I have the munchies, someone will let me know if it won't work. Cheap peanut butter always separates. Pour off that oil. Make a small batch of canna-oil. Mix it back into the peanut butter. Bam, medicated peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

Go cheaper, it separates. Don't know about the expensive stuff. Not going to pay 6 bucks a jar to find out.

It's not the cheap stuff, it's the stuff without the added hydrogenated (trans) fats and sugar/hfcs that separates. It doesn't matter if it's organic or just "all-natural", if it's just ground peanuts and a bit of salt (the way it should be imo) it will separate at room temperature. I usually store the jar upside-down before I open it, which helps for mixing before refrigeration. One great way to eliminate this (and integrate your abv) is to spoon it out into a mixer and blend it, I usually make a batch of cookies when I open a jar so I don't dirty the mixer up just to blend my peanut butter. You could easily integrate your abv into it at this point.
