[Question] How Often Should I Clean My Volcano?

I bought my Volcano about 9 months ago and I haven't cleaned it or done any service maintenance on it to up keep it yet. Should I get around to doing it or is it a pretty much set and forget kind of unit? :\

Also out of curiosity, how often do you clean your equipment??

What needs cleaning? Other than cleaning dust off of mine , i've never had to really clean it. I used to wipe the mouthpiece off and the screens , but never did any heavy cleaning.

When I owned a volcano I cleaned it religiously :) ... I changed bags every couple days and cleaned the screen and chamber maybe once every 4-6 days (since it stayed pretty clean)

I would clean my bags with 99% ISO a bunch of times before disposal at first and I would replace the bags on my easy valve myself (using the roll of volcano bags)

This is exactly the information I was looking for, thank you! :)

I figure that its an investment that is meant to last so I figured some upkeep was required!

The machine itself does not need cleaning, but the mouth pieces (depending on which type you have) should be cleaned and the bags replaced. I just bought turkey bags at the local grocery store and used those instead of buying the roll of volcano bags. Turned out great! :leaf:

Hot Potatoe,
I soak the mouth pieces regularly in alcohol just to stop the spreading of germs and such.

Hmmmm so you essentially made your own bags again?? If so, you have to make a tutorial or write down what you did so the rest of us can save a little cash instead of buying a whole new set of bags again ;)

To use an oven bag for a volcano, all you do is take the black o-ring off and remove the old bag. Cut the new oven bag to the size you want and fit it around the mouthpiece and replace the o-ring and trim it. Just make sure you have ALL of the top of the bag around the mouthpiece so there no leakage.

I don't own a Volcano, but for ANY glass parts I can speak very highly of this:

I'm sure an ISO soak will do the trick for small nozzles and mouthpieces that I imagine the volcano using, but this still brings a godly shine to any glass that is worth a try at least once!
Also a microfiber cloth and a big of distilled water should be enough to wipe down the unit :)
