Thank you all so much for the info. This was the thread for me. Ive been having problems even getting my bho to pass the lighter test. I have a best value vac and hot plate set up. I need a new heat source but im trying tomake due for now. Im adding to my technique after reading all this. If I have fearther problems ill be back with pictures and specifics.

First things first its almost all leaves, just trying to make the best with what I got.

I tried winterizing but still had trouble getting past lighter test, but was before I knew to filp or how to spread it really thin.

Just thanks again everyone, even the noobs for asking the questions so I dont have too.

an easy and cheap way to up your oils quality is with the correct filters. use SS mesh from 316twholesale.com instead of paper coffee filters. i suggest 50 micron and anything smaller.

just throwing that out there if you werent aware of it.

How about a suggestion between 25 micron or 50? Also how is the pressure?

I stuff whole leaves in about a 20 inch glass extraction tube.(guessing off the top of my head) Last run I had a blow out. I think I might be packing too tight, I scraped, repacked, and doubled up the unbleached coffee filter. Any advice on my tube packing?

I read somewhere that I should use a bamboo stick, is that true if so where might I get one to fit my needs?

I use whip it premium from the north sea, but I am wondering if I could save money switching to capital? I think I spent 60 on a 12 case of 400ml.

Last but not least is there something better to use than those damn plastic snap off parts that come on the lid of butane cans to use with my glass extraction tube? I got butane in my face last blast.

i dont blast so im not sure about the pressure. maybe one of the BHO guys here can help on that.

they sell a 10 micron screen that will really clean up your oil, but i wouldnt suggest blasting through it. use it as a second filtration after dissolving your BHO in ethanol.

I found 50 micron to drain too slowly when blasting and when winterizing. Switched to 160 and haven't looked back.

I use a 25 micron clamped on my tube and I have 4 brass screens inside the tube at the end. No blowouts no pressure problems. With the tane kept in the freezer, it is like just pouring slowly out of the end of the tube. I can't really even call it blasting.:shrug:

Im not understanding what the brass screws are for.

Brass screens inside. Did I say screws?:freak: I know I have some loose. Those screens were the only filter I used before the screens from 316twholesale.com. I figure it can't hurt to have them in there.

thanks, but was there a specific post you were directing to? im fully aware of the thread itself. im fully ethanol all the way. i will try the KX, but not until i run out of EC. def keeping an eye on that thread.

so are you only using the 160? or are you filtering after the blast as well? just saying, if you were to blast at 160 and then refilter later with say 50-10 you would end up with a cleaner return than blasting through 160 alone. now how much cleaner is the question. when i do qwet runs i filter through the 50 first, then 25, and finally the 10. sometimes when im lazy i wont use the 10, but usually i do. i understand it may filter slowly, but its worth it IMO. plus you can hook up one of the aeropress deals and push the liquid through the filter much faster than letting gravity do it for you. the only thing i dont like about it is that its made of plastic. its prolly not an issue at all considering the short time the qwet is in contact with the plastic, but its still... plastic. i would like to find or build a nice large SS or glass syringe with a fitting on the end to mount filters. now im rambling, but i think you should try the 50 again. worth the wait.

Yeah just 160 ... I don't know what else I'd filter out. I never get any plant matter in my finished product. I'll post a pic in the dab stash thread of a run I have in the vac chamber at home once I get home from work.

As far as a winterized batch ... when I try to filter a winterized batch with 50u it goes so slow that the waxes melt back into the solution so I found the bigger holes to be better there too.

At room temp ... I know I could stick it back in the freezer and use a lower micron screen but I don't see a need as the 160 gets all the wax if it's been in the freezer at least 48 hours. I really don't winterize that much anymore though cause the waxes and lipids don't bug me but low flavor oil does.

Concentrate storage question:

I have some of my wax inside my Satchmo JyARz container. It gets very hot and humid here. I was wondering if it would be ok to put a desiccant pack inside the JyARz with my wax? Would the desiccant pack hurt the wax? Would it even matter if the JyARz is airtight?

mail came today... I will post here.

got the 25 micron screens from 316... he must like you guys cause all I got were the screens I ordered... shocker! anyway lol I also ordered a roll of the new oil slick sheets... now I was an early adopter of the original sheets and they kinda sucked..

the new oil slick sheets are totally diffrent! they are a solid sheet of teflon ptfe plastic... prolly 5 or 6 mil minimum thickness... wow wow wow!

I will be using butane strait on them. I want to say fuck scraping like I say fuck combustion!

and I think this is the answer.

pictures to come in either this or the extraction artists thread after purge is done.

it might pull in some terpenes possibly but I doubt its needed. especially in those jyarz

This time I had put it in the oven set at 150F for two hours.
Usually, I leave it to air-dry in a warm airy room for 3 or 4 days.
Do you have any suggestions for a rush purge tek?

Second NOOB Q: What is the deal with those nail kits that come with ceramic bases and titanium shafts/heads? Is it for heat insulation or something?

oil slick sheets are the sheeeeeet!
a little tricky at first because they do not manipulate like parchment... and since I sprayed directly on them it was a less concentrated pool initally...

but once its purged some its pretty easy to collect... razor free I might add.

taste.... is phenomenal!
