I think he did you a favor by ignoring your mouthpiece requests. Both would've made a mess of the lines, and aren't consistent with his style.

It is tasteful, colour is nice. I was specifically excited for that mouthpiece though This one feels good but i'll never know what i'm missing out on I guess. Will do a water test vid at some point for sure!

He is getting a piece of art commissioned, and gave specifications to the artist.
If it would ruin the lines if the piece enough that Corey wouldn't want to put his name to the piece, then he should have contacted déjà vu and told him that the idea was not feasible.

I recognize that there are some liberties he might need to take with a design to make it work, but for a specified element of a custom piece to be just ignored doesn't sound like any kind of favour to me

Based on déjà vus post above I can see how he would've been expecting more work on the bottom half of the piece.

It's still awesome value to get such a well constructed/ fully functioning recycler that also has work to it, but based on what was posted above, it definitely seems like less than I would've been expecting to be there...

Now, he has neglected the mouth piece request, and the colour incorporation is highly minimal, but still subtle and nice which is what I wanted. I can imagine more creative ways to have used purple but this will do!
I told him about the mouthpiece that he forgot, but don't expect a reply or a resolution unfortunately. I like it anyway because it is very well made, functions professionally. Better than I expected. It also arrived in a padded envelope. If you really want what you asked and payed for; it's a 50/50 chance that Cory is the absolute WRONG person to get glass from. Just a clear warning. Someone that needed a specification would be taking a risk and running the chance to not have that specific request honoured.

Regardless, (and with no regrets whatsoever) here is my glass! Only had my iphone as a camera, but oh well

I think it is very nice. I like the purple accent. The mouthpiece is only visible in your last picture, but it doesn't appear to be his standard mouthpiece. It is slightly flared and his normal mouthpiece is not, so he did custom it for you, even if may not be exactly what you asked for.

The envelope thing still freaks me out, and the idea of using one internationally is insane. But your piece arrived safely so that is all moot in your case.

Congratulations on a fine Cory piece. I thought that was going to be more common in here than it will turn out being I suspect...

Since we are giving opinions. The perc is whack and wheres all the color u asked for? Its fine to look on the bright side but i say u got fucked. Noone should be coming in here for the first time and getting the impression that cory is someone to do business with.

I was trying to stay positive for him.

Agreed the work should be done to spec, and if the blower didn't want to do it, it should have been discussed. But we're talking about Cory here. I have a custom order with another blower that has been dragging his feet. I suspect the work I'm asking for is beyond his skill level (or maybe not his style), but it's not clear. His communication isn't hot either. Seems to be the norm more than the exception.

Sorry for bumping a thread folks obviously would rather die. To that end, I won't bother anyone with my resolution. I only thought it might be educational. My bad.

Only some are trying to kill the thread. I think most of us would rather see Cory clean up his act and become a master blower. There is no denying his talent and he has great potential, but he obviously has to clean up his sales side. The haters just want to hate. It's a free country.

And, btw, not that he cares but I don't consider Syrupy one of the haters. He feels he has been wronged and is trying to resolve it. The haters are mostly in the peanut gallery. So it goes...

Congrats on having Corys baby. The perc is crooked thats obvious from the photos. Please feel free to stay on top of quality control for posts bud. I said threads dead because corys most ardent supporter finally got his piece and it was yet again fucked in multiple ways.

I agree, did you ask for a gridded stemline or a EA style diffy? If you asked for a gridded stemline thats some pretty sloppy work for how bent the stemline is.

Another thing to mention. This guy is a GLASS blower and knows GLASS. What kind of a moron sends ANY type of glass in a padded envelope? I mean seriously, that is just down right stupid. It explains everything I need to know instantly about this blower, STAY AWAY. Especially after investing hours making the piece WHY on earth would you pack it like a 9 year old? With all the reviews and horror stories on this thread Id say its a much wiser, cheaper, and safer to go with distilled glass.

I have no idea what I want to say here, exactly, but I feel like I want to say something. After all, I've actually dealt with Cory, and it wasn't a bad experience, and I'm 100% satisfied with the outcome of our transaction.

First let me just say that it's completely fair to criticize Cory's business acumen, communication skills, and packing decisions. Clearly he is lacking in those areas, and particularly if you are someone who has actually dealt with Cory, it makes perfect sense to come to this thread and report back about your experience to give others fair warning about the experience they're likely to have with him. I did it. In fact, I'm the one who exposed the whole "padded envelope" issue in the first place. So yeah, that type of discussion is totally fair game. It belongs in this thread, undoubtedly.

That said, I have to roll my eyes at the attempts to declare this thread "dead" (despite it being one of the more active ones I'm following), as well as the comments I've seen here and elsewhere that seem to imply that Cory's work might be just as flawed and lacking as his communication. Let me be clear: his work is amazing. Poor communication and padded envelope aside, I absolutely love both my Cory recyclers (I only purchased one directly from him, the other from BM). They get used more than any of my other pieces, and have since I got them. Given the opportunity, I would purchase another of his pieces without hesitation.

Should someone casually browsing this thread contact Cory with a request for a custom order? Not unless they've got money to spare, and time, and patience, and a willingness to take a bit of a risk--that's for sure. Then again, maybe all the negative backlash on this thread will help lighten Cory's workload a bit, and improve his response time. But if you have a chance to pick up a Cory recycler second-hand (as I did)? No need to hesitate. Luckily, business prowess and glassblowing ability are not intrinsically linked.

You really have no interest in seeing how a downward tilt on a gridded stem line affects function on his recycler shape, rather then just yelling "shit, shit, downward slants now mean crooked and shiiit" ? Fuck, i'll be first in line to be extra offended if the product has severe function problems, Deju has had the patience of a god.

If you checked I quite clearly say his flaws, have a changing opinion throughout the thread based on the newly available information, and advocate the ability for civil action in defence of the Sale of Goods act and fitness of good precedented test if communication is not established to fix a dispute in an appropriate way, etc.

Your allowed your opinions, as I am to my opinion that yours is premature without a water test of the function, and your previous post (THREAD DEAD) served no purpose. I can state the opinion that the sky is red, but that doesn't mean anyone telling me i'm wrong is infringing my right to opinion. an opinion on an objective fact (the affected quality of the function) without the information to identify all various unknown factors is an opinion worth questioning.

Even if every situation ended negatively, we wouldn't be able to see the full outcome without a thread for each concluded transaction to be posted. Ending the thread is more of a benefit to hide bad press then something to support fanboys. As of now I see the flaws in customization, plus a unique (potential flaw when tested) downward slant on the perc compared to previous models. IF it negatively affects function, i'd rather know to change my opinion about how his flawed business practises are now affecting quality of function, rather than "THREAD DEAD RAWR RAWR".

the fact that a dead thread means that no one will get to know if syrupy gets fucked is a reason enough to keep the thread. I would loooove to know the results, especially since he is practised with the paypal process and has a point of reference to further emphasize delineation for the regular process.

This thread really makes me thankful that I don't have GAS. Or money.

If I may say so; it's the first perc i've ever had or used. It works well. I guess it's crooked.. If that matters. It looks good atleast. All of the little holes do their job and the tornado is amazing. Function-wise, I am in heaven. Less colour work on it than I wanted, much less, but I am happy anyway
Needless to say, and I stand by this regardless of how talented he may be.. My next glass will be from someone who is clear with their intentions in regards to time and custom specifications made by the customer.

I only really see it from a bird's eye view and the water and vapor twirl around quite a bit from where i'm standing. That function vid may have had a bit too much water if that effects anything? Hopefully it isn't a dud compared to what others think a well-functioning piece is

I would be pissed. You paid for a custom piece, you got just a splash of color, crooked perk that does not fire evenly at all, and the custom mouthpiece looks like he took all of his inspiration from a "ribbed" condom.


I would have expected more, certainly not the best vortex when comparing it to his other works.
