Discontinued Elevape SV

Thanks Belgian for setting record right on what the black covering is ...honestly I really didn't mean to scare anyone away from this vaporizer. It was something I noticed on mine and pointed out as more of a wear factor. Again sorry on calling it paint last thing I want to do is cause anyone to miss out on a really great vaporizer due to me misunderstand what the covering on it is.

as i understood there is paint involved in the process of anodizing but i am not an expert... but maybe this issue could be avoided (using something like wood touth pick (glass) iinstead of something metallic to stir your herb/bowl) and this is an user error thing) or maybe the bowl could be not anodized... or maybe it isn t at all an issue... but i think it would be good thing to ask joe...

On the paint if you look back at post 327 of this thread there a close up of inside of bowl compare that to post 88 and you can see where paint as worn off inside of bowl. There a silver area around the top of the bowl that was black when unit is new. I feel most of the paint comes off when stirring and happen's when unit is new. If it's a risk factor not really sure last thing I want to do is scare someone away from buying this unit.

Honestly might not be paint it was black when new its silver now something came off.... guess paint was first thing that came to mind. Sorry if paints not the right word for the black substance covering the vaporizer.

the problem is that it doesn't happen from stirring but from turning the lid to remove it
and it can't be removed without turning it 90°
I've noticed that when I've received mine (thought I had gotten a unit that wasn't new, then realized it must have been their QA), the silver "ring" wasn't full but after a few days of use it became circular and even. I have to say I don't really like that and I think by nature there'll always be some friction with the lid and therefore possibly a tiny bit of aluminium that could get through the filters while you inhale. Probably the best solution is to make a lid that doesn't spin, just resting on the magnets like someone else mentioned before in that thread.

It's reassuring (in a way) that other people are seeing some "flaws" in this vape (I mean people not 150% positive about it), I was getting the feeling I was turning into a hater. I'm still hoping I can solve my issues after talking to the elevape rep but I still haven't found the time to do so. After @sasNW post I've downloaded and installed the latest version of the software going from 1.0.6 to 1.1.1 (you can see that in Windows Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features) I have yet to see if it solves my combustion issues though (I should be able to report this weekend hopefully).

Got a response from Joe about the anodized aluminum rubbing off-

The part that rubs off on the lid is less then 5 microns deep, so it is a fraction of a mm that comes off, and it will come off when cleaning. He says there is no worry about inhaling anything. Essentially they decided to leave it like that instead of masking it during anodizing to show that it is brand new, and the small rim rubbing to silver shows that it has been used. Nothing more then that tiny 5 micron anodized ring will rub off and will happen in the first week or so.

Sounds good to me personally, and I like that it is something they already considered. Can't wait for some new units to get out there for reviews!

They must have only gotten a few in as I am still waiting. It's a little frustrating. Not the end of the world obviously.

Have you been in contact with them? I don't know if i would have gotten the treatment I did (free 2day shipping immediately) had I not been in contact with customer support

Yeah, a few times. Sounds like ipuff is just behind, so I'll just try to be patient and not jealous. This is a replacement for the firefly in my acct pic which I didn't like very much.

So the unboxing and charging has begun (and I can't believe how tiny this thing is in person, easily head to head with Indica, I'll do comparison shots later on) ... But a few oddities:

- my box wasn't shrink wrapped or anything, just swung the panel open and theres the Elevape and case inside. Seems odd that the box would already be opened no?

- the Elevape itself seems new/fresh, however, I seem to be missing a magnet in my lid!
G4C9duk.jpg

I don't necessarily mind having only one as the lid is plenty tough to get off as is, but is it safe to use with that glue there? There seems to be a drop of it on the lid next to the magnet that is there as well (plus the magnets have holes in the center, so glue is visible there too). Should I get in touch with Joe for a new lid to be sent to me regardless, as I hope I can at least use this one for now...

- there was also a tiny bit of glue that was on the stir tool somehow, which had also moved from its slot in the case to the other side (where the Elevape would go), wedged between two of the foam sides. But I'm not nearly as concerned about that aspect of course, glue rubbed off I think too....

- I also don't have an extra coil included, but I believe someone else didn't as well so is that just not standard after all?

Oh what's the email address for Joe by the way, apologies if its already been posted, I'm multitasking right now. Thanks in advance guys!

Sorry to hear I won't be the only one not 100% satisfied here. I'd definitely send it back if I were you. :\

There's one weird thing here as well, you said the site you've ordered it from was back-ordering those right? so that'd mean yours should be brand new? Yet your serial number is lower than mine which I've received from vapornation about a month ago. That and the already opened box would tend to make me think of a returned vape personally.

Honestly think sending it back may be jumping the gun a little. Mine wasn't shrink wrap either. I do agree the low # is odd. The wear ring thou hasn't been worn down and looks like new.

Honestly I would call Joe ask him. My thoughts are ...if it is a return that hasn't been used work fine and still has the warranty I wouldn't worry too much on it.

Personally I think the magnets are over kill. Both of mine have popped out and it still is rock solid. I could glue them back in with a dab of super glue but haven't since the lid is plenty secure. Hope everyone gets a great functioning vape that they love!

I took a wooden match and carved the end flat. A thin 1/8 wide strip of tape wrapped around the opposite end helps to hold it. Basically tried to make a wooden duplicate of their stir stick. Works just as well and doesn't stick to the magnets. The brush tool they included works great for cleaning the lid screen

My box was not shrink wrapped either so I wouldn't worry about that. Also it now makes sense why they decided to keep the small ring to rub off around the lid, no ring worn off so id say that's a new SV for sure:), definitely weird about the serial number though.

I would definitely still use the unit, and just request a new lid be sent out to you. That glue is all around the magnets in all the units so it will be perfectly fine health wise, just can't use that corner magnet to hold the lid on the outside of the unit. No biggy.

And the only email listed on their site is sales@ipuffusa.com
They should get you sent to the right guy from there. Let us know how your sessions go with the Elevape!

And if I missed any questions my bad, I'm working also

Edit- missed one! I'm pretty sure the SV does not come with any extra coils, just a few people that have had issues have received them I think. If it helps, I am still using my first coil and it looks like day one! And I've ran probably 4 ounces through it at least

Honestly I can't believe it... the guy paid $250 and you're telling him that having a unit that is not how it's supposed to be when brand new is no biggie?

No I am saying it is no biggie to use it like that. Notice how my first comment was to contact them for a new piece? Obviously it's not a good thing that it's missing, but I don't think it's the end of the world that one magnet on one of the attachments fell off. Should he be furious that a magnet is missing on the lid and will have a new one sent to him?

I can't believe you would send an entire unit back because the lid is missing a magnet?

I fail to see the difference of meaning between these two sentences:

- having a unit that is not how it's supposed to be when brand new is no biggie
- I don't think it's the end of the world that one magnet on one of the attachments fell off

But I'm not looking for any argument, my comment was probably the result of my own frustration regarding this vape and I shouldn't have made it in the first place. I'll unwatch this thread and will try to figure out what to do with my dysfunctional, potentially unhealthy and therefore expensive piece of metal.

I sincerely hope all you soon to be SV owners will be satisfied with your acquisition, too bad for me I am not, really.
