I agree I should diy it but still in the info gathering stages and just moved so expenses are tight and I've heard it costs a lot more to produce so I'm not sure when I can get started or how much dry product I would need to start doing qwet

Have you checked here:

I used 10 grams dry flower. Yielded just over 2g with the QWKX (QWET) method. More yield and better taste with butane, but less equipment and danger with QWKX (QWET).
I mostly vape oils (occasional flower in the SOLO). Almost always either using my Persei SR-714 or KISS cart.

I've noticed that the post in the bottom section of my SR-74 (not an upgraded SR-71 and no X) doesn't collapse quite enough when fully threaded to leave the entire white band of the rod visible -- when I tighten it up, it FORCES the rod up just a bit (if the top silver contact band started flush, it will be forced up so about 1/2 of the white area is above the collar).

As long as I keep the contacts clean it doesn't seem to have an adverse effect (and effectively raises the height of the rod in the upper chamber slightly..

Something to be concerned about?
@TommydCat have you ever checked the SR-74, no x, instructions? http://www.w9tech.com/instructions/ Notice that middle category each version of herc has its own instructions.

I copied the picture I posted out of the official SR-74x instructions, but the SR-74 has a different rod placement. It needs to have only 2mm of the white band showing or else, as you've noticed, you bottom out the floating center pin and jam the floater hard in the bottom, and force the rod to slip through the chuck you've just tightened the crap out of. Which could theoretically wear off the tungsten contact points.

NJ - dry -- JUst as NY -- :(

if done correct / n u know product -- u will not spend more than flower or other methods --- imo --- since concentrates r well …… Concentrated ….. n imo last longer -- been combustion n flower free about a 11 months now ! -- n my body feels soooo much better !

speaking of lasting longer --- I finally got my new kiss globe -- (better than any other thread globe I must say -- -- OF COURSE) I like the metal -- n the ceramic used !!!!!!! -- glass seems it may break easy -- but I am sure it will be dandy !!!!!!!! :) --
also
got another 3.7 cart & 7.4 KISS cart --- always happy with these !!!!!!!!

(still didn't rebuild my old kiss carts / waiting on titanium wire … ) any day now ???

I have been doing nothing but the Herc 74x -- (i had a glacier / ceramic seego - I was also using on the go when I just had to but it really works best at about 5volts so not really good unless using core -- kinda like herc does imo ! ) herc n core -- all needed !!!!!!!

Yet after 2 days of toying around with all the new carts -- --- then jumping back to Herc to test my new "HAMMER TOP" happy happy joy joy :) that is the only way to run the herc 4 me -- the hammer the herc and the core ---- all day all night !!!!!!!!!!

THE JURY IS UP --- the HERC 74X IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO -- IMO it conserves wax ??? it tastes incredible every time , u control the size hits , even when u r all outa wax --- ( I always have my reclaim to clean out n get a few days outa it ---- ) i have not come across anything remotely close ?
anyone ? ?

I feel the load as u go eats up oil ---- I swear once the 74x coil is primed --- it takes such a small amount to push out sooooo many clouds =-- n then leave a few waiting 4 later ---

I still luv me a qwik kiss fill n pull -- I do -- but only when I must and when I can just scoop through the wax !

all good products (i even grabbed the ohm tester and the 3.7 rod for the herc -- anxious 2 test )

great all around & yes when is the new KISS toy available ……… ill take a few of course :)

I personally prefer the essential oil cart as you can load 1g and be set for a long time the kiss or l.a.y.g.(load as you go) only take enough for a few hits at a time I started out with an ophos and oil carts knowing layg wasn't my style and just recently bought a persei and herc

I have 2 hercs and I still have love for the EO cart!! Just picked up a 5 pack of the 2.4Ω and am trying out the SS kit on the double top.

Ahhh.. Didn't notice the difference in instruction, so means I'm already set. Thank you!

(I don't intend to force it since I already realize it bottoms if I force it - I was putting it fairly loose, bottoming it out, unscrewing it, then tightening the rod where it was. Which looks about half-way into the white band, but close enough to the pic.)

I got a bunch of 1.5 ohm cartridges (thanks to Exit!) and it's my stealthier way to vape with any small ego battery (with the adaptater), I take this setup when I go to the restaurant or somewhere stealth is needed!

I caved and ordered the core. I'm going to try to run my herc through it and see if I can get better performance. There's something wrong with my hercules and I am in denial. If I can't get it sorted out with the core I'll send it out to gary and have him take a look. At this point I'm convinced it's the herc. It could be my batteries, it could be the ceramic rod, some parts of it look suspect to me, it could be my center pin. I don't think it's my technique I've taken in all the advice and applied it. My crumble is clean and I watch it melt into the coil but it never comes up as thick vapor. I've probably loaded .5 today desperately trying to get a giant draw. Average pulls all day and nothing at all tonight. No reclaim down in the chamber and a nearly spent battery after about an hour of messing with this. It gets hot but no substantial vapor is releasing.
My super ignorant opinion is that my rod is the culprit. There are some points on the tungsten on the contact strip that look worn and I sometimes have an issue even getting this to heat until I adjust the rod. It doesn't make sense to have put so much material in this and not be getting substantial consistent pulls. I can load a .2 chunk of crumble and heat the herc for 30 seconds or so before the crumble melts and then that's all it really does. It's almost like the saturated coil isn't releasing vapor. I am running this on a v2 top could that be an issue?

I don't think any of your problems are super ignorant. You seem to have tried a lot of stuff and I feel really bad that you are still having problems after so much effort, because my Herc experience has been totally painless and I feel that everyone is entitled to the hassle free awesome vape experience that I have had with these units. I firmly believe if you send in your herc that the crew at UP tech will get it diagnosed properly for you. The V2 top is what I use on both my SR-71 and -74x, I can also use V1 and Hammer tops with no issues. Your concentrate should be melting in within seconds of pushing the button and you should have to let off/tap the button to melt your concentrate in while drawing on the unit to get it into the coil without over heating the concentrate (Shatter is easy to load in the Herc while Crumble can be kind of hard, I use a heat gun now to melt my Crumble into the coils, but it's still possible to do in a matter of 30 seconds with just the heat from the Herc itself.)

@Beanporn Im not sure I heard you mention the coil location when you open up the top and look down is the coil all the way to the bottom?
Every single time I experience weak vapor my coil has rode up the chambers ( I still haven't squashed my coil ) my herc can be boiling hot I look inside my coil is at the mouthpiece I push it down and wow a lung busting massive cloud

the Hercules seems like its either going to heat or not heat I don't know what could be causing your herc to only heat partial or half power unless the batteries if it was the rod or pin I don't think you would get any contact

I know since I got my core I haven't even bothered with my batteries its too nice and convenient

I squished the coil it sits squarely on the bottom. I tried to get it going this morning and I got it to heat but no vapor. I'm leaving for Santa Cruz for a few days and leaving the frustration of the herc behind. Ill take a kiss cart and enjoy the simplicity. I am going to send my Hercules in when I get back. I'm not putting anymore time into this it's pointless

woweeee THIS "HAMMER TOP" IS THE KEY so perfect 4 so many applications

amazing 4 the SR-74X - actually if any one is having a learning curve just grab the hammer n with the core let them show u the way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice product - nice feature -- I actually like using with most products at the moment :)
???

couple questions ??
@ G or my friends …….
4 the hammer ? will the attachment ever be available again ????

4 the OHM reader ? should it read an actual # or should the reading jump all over the place ? it seems to give a different # each time I screw it on depending on how I move or the movement I make ?
also with the OHM reader -- I think the screw part for the testing of the head -- like the persei head or the hammer head -- it seems way too tight ? no way to screw the top in since its next to the thread for the carts ?

since we are on the cart subject is there a basic list of what all up tech products should read (kiss / se-74 .. etc ? or also recommended readings after a rebuild maybe ?

thank u for all the help --

after I figure all of this out -- I'm onto opening the 3.7v herc rod and testing that out ---- then maybe a nice herc - how 2 vid -- ?? as I await the new kiss cart ??? hmmmm when will orders b taken ?

@pornbean ---- not cave in with the core -- its a necessity with these pro - health - tools / IMO -- plus it even comes with an adapter for on the go -- rv/ car adapter / inverter recommended !

you will love it -- even has usb charger (i think) lol

the meter has a 501 and 601 thread so you should only be using the 601 side with your Persei gear. It is actually only for persei carts I believe. I think the reason is the Persei unit itself is too fat. I did find a work around. I got a 601 to 501 adapter and am able to test the persei or hammer tops.

I'm getting 2.72 on the 7.4 kiss
1.28 on the 3.7 kiss
.83 herc black
2.24 white herc

G said these were good readings-

(is it just me or does it feel like holiday sometimes when cleaning the 74x reclaim -- i don't mind some oil getting down thur …. lil bonus ! imo )

guess I'm gunna ask w9 about the ohm meter jumping all over w/#s ? unless its normal ??

hope everyone n joying the day !

Extreme variations in ohm meter readings indicates a bad connection somewhere. When a herc is COLD it should read consistent results every time. Keep in mind resistance values change when the herc gets HOT. If you are getting extreme variations when herc is cold, check the center gold pin. Rod might need to go a little deeper.

an earlier post says the right resistance for the white rod herc is 2.24.

is this set in stone what it should be? mine is reading 2.43 cold. i still don't have any wax to test it yet but have practiced assembly a few times, it comes out between 2.43 and 2.46 every time. is there an acceptable range or should i keep practicing until i hit 2.24?

You are ok with that ohm reading value. Are u using a sr74x? resistance values are not set in stone. Every rod reads slightly different with a professional sensitive meter. For example a Fluke meter. As long as your ohm readings are consistent and close to 2.2-2.4 you are fine. Keep in mind resistant reading change when Hot. If your cold herc ohm value is consistent and somewhere near 2.2-2.4 you are good for take off. I have had new white rods read at 2.1 before but as they become used they stay at 2.3ish.

I get how the hammer works with the bender, but I've seen people saying it works great with the herc. How does that work? I don't have either one, but I've been looking into the both and don't seem to get how they work together.

Also I was wondering if I could get the hammer, the core, and the herc as a desktop (or car) unit? Am I missing anything I need there? Otherwise I was thinking of getting the Omicron v2 on sale for $50. Just not ready to drop $170 on a persei yet.

PERSEI doesn't cost $170, lol.
