Cory Glass Designs re/incyclers - high function and affordable?

The padded envelope still blows my mind.
The thing that's craziest about it is that there is no reason for it. It can't be much more to just put it in a box. That isn't going to guaranty it's safety, but it has to increase its chances significantly without much (if any) additional cost so why not just do it? It's an eccentricity on his part and it is kinda silly, but as long as HE is taking the risk and not his clients it is totally up to him.

I can't imagine even HE would do it on something international that was going to spend a lot of travel time, so I doubt you @Deja Vu need worry about it, but it's hard to defend even domestically.

Edit: It's funny, I've been thinking about ordering him something from SunshineStore and having it shipped to him as an example of how glass should be sent to clients.

Puts my mind at ease a bit. Im sure it would be in a box for overseas.. A padded envelope wouldn't survive a flight in my mind's eye..

And the sheer amount of time it will be out there. If he always ships priority mail that is pretty much 2 days to most domestic US addresses. 2 days isn't a LOT of exposure. Won't necessarily prevent that dorm room refrigerator from rolling over on it when the 18 wheeler gets cut off, but it will reduce it's risk dramatically anyway.

I think this thread needs a title change to just cory glass designs cause people might be getting the wrong idea...

That's probably not a bad idea, although their "high function and affordability" hasn't changed.

Well said @farscaper

There are 31 pages of posts in the four and a half months since this thread was started and only like a half dozen pieces received by members.

And 2 of the pieces received by members were not even as they originally requested them.

Absolutely terrible vibes in here.

I'm out too. Peace

It wouldn't be a surprise if this thread did as much to drive folks away as it did to encourage them to buy from Cory. It's too bad as he is an outstanding artist, but his sales behavior is pretty bad. Not responding to people in a reasonable amount of time in an instant on and off world is not helpful to promotion. Some folks will care less than others, but nobody is going to feel good about it.

Looks like mine is on it's way to Canada for some reason. Tracking info is getting scary. It's gone from Santa An to Los Angeles.. (and instead of departing from LA airport to AUstralia) it has now arrived in Canada. Not sure what the fuck is going on  very.. very confused though.

edit: my mistake. Santa An is in LA.. lol

Received it! Too high to upload photos or describe it but it functions very well. He missed some (if not 90%) of the requests I made for my custom piece  but oh well. :leaf::zzz: pain is over

except I have asked him to put in a diffuser of his choice. I trust his personal preference when it comes to the optimal amount of diffusion for vapour, so he's going to surprise me on that one. It'll be 18.8mm, with the mouthpiece on a 45 degree angle like this:

The mouth-piece will also be made similarly to this one here: (photo is actually of a Sheldon Black piece)

Also for the middle of the base, the bottom window and the base wraparound he is incorporating colours similar to these to really bring it all together:

And Its not going to cost me more than like $200 USD (and that's with postage to Australia included

Now, he has neglected the mouth piece request, and the colour incorporation is highly minimal, but still subtle and nice which is what I wanted. I can imagine more creative ways to have used purple but this will do!
I told him about the mouthpiece that he forgot, but don't expect a reply or a resolution unfortunately. I like it anyway because it is very well made, functions professionally. Better than I expected. It also arrived in a padded envelope. If you really want what you asked and payed for; it's a 50/50 chance that Cory is the absolute WRONG person to get glass from. Just a clear warning. Someone that needed a specification would be taking a risk and running the chance to not have that specific request honoured.

Regardless, (and with no regrets whatsoever) here is my glass! Only had my iphone as a camera, but oh well

The coloring is very tasteful, and I'm not sure what else he would have did considering.

I think he did you a favor by ignoring your mouthpiece requests. Both would've made a mess of the lines, and aren't consistent with his style.

Overall looks nice. A water test vid would be cool if you can make one.

If he made custom specifications regarding the mouthpiece, then it's unacceptable that they weren't met IMO.

Who cares if it ruins the line Of the piece?
He is getting a piece of art commissioned, and gave specifications to the artist.
If it would ruin the lines if the piece enough that Corey wouldn't want to put his name to the piece, then he should have contacted déjà vu and told him that the idea was not feasible.

I recognize that there are some liberties he might need to take with a design to make it work, but for a specified element of a custom piece to be just ignored doesn't sound like any kind of favour to me :2c:

Based on déjà vus post above I can see how he would've been expecting more work on the bottom half of the piece.

It's still awesome value to get such a well constructed/ fully functioning recycler that also has work to it, but based on what was posted above, it definitely seems like less than I would've been expecting to be there...
