Hello,

Quick question guys, i made my own EJuices with the Liquidizer .

I 'am bored with Kanger products standard bottom coil designs who leaks onto the battery.

I want to try RTA with Genesis style. But 2clicker and others advice to NOT use SS mesh as a wick.

But is it for oils or also for EJuices made with the Liquidizer ?

I am outside of the US so i cant have access to XC-132 or XC-116.

QUESTION : What is my best option of wick material vor vaping my EJuices in a Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (UD AGT for now) at this time => Cotton, SS Rope, Silica ?

(Sorry if this is a little off-topic)

Thanks !

i may have your wick! check out the rigid but porous FC-2000 from Kidney Puncher. i just did a build with it and the flavor it provides is fantastic. pics coming on that, but i would imagine it would also wick well for liquids.

IMO the SS mesh wick tastes bad like you can taste the metal. again this is only with solids. i cant imagine that liquid form would taste much better though. i dont like the idea of cotton or silica because of the potential to burn or taste burnt. so that leads me to ceramic. it provides a super clean taste and you cant really burn it. after it gunks up you can dry fire it clean.

i am not really familiar with the genny style setups. is that a tank and vertical wicks protruding through the deck and into the tank?

Hi 2clicker, thanks for the input about FC-2000. I'am gonna try it !!!!!!!

For the Genesis style atomizer, yes its a vertical build like you said :

url

Advantage : no leak at the bottom (sealed).

Usually a SS Mesh is used to wick the juice, it also can be cotton.

My dream is to build a Genesis like the one above, but with a wick made of XC-132 or XC-116 ......

But i will try ceramic wicks FC-2000 for sure with my EJuices !!!! I'll keep you informed !

I really think we should start a new thread for e-cig and related use, and keep this one about oil usage with e-cig devices, no offense to anyone hopefully, but I feel like information on both subjects would be much better organized and presented by having separate threads for the two. I just don't know where to put it, any suggestions would be great. I feel like I would enjoy having a thread on both topics and would contribute to both, along with many others here, so where to put a e-cig thread is going to be my challenge of the day lol.

I think there is one for creating ejuice already.... sorta

its a tough call because you can liquify oil... so even tho its liquid its still oil being used in ecig gear... i dont know

So for you guys successfully building oil rigs, does airflow matter? I mean, obviously you need some, but is it less important than for ecig use? Is one hole enough, or two? How about adjustable airflow RDAs, do you like them? Is anyone using one of the newer adjustable RDAs like Quasar or Stillare?

i think air flow control is key for some users, but useless for others. its all about your preferences.

i my halo cap has a lot of adjustability when it comes to the airflow, but i dont find myself adjusting that often. in fact my preferred setting is probably similar to most stock drilled air holes.

still its nice to have the adjustability if needed. i find i like a somewhat restricted airflow.

If you are not relying on passive wicking, airflow does not matter, as long as there is some. Oil expands alot when it turns to vapor, and will find its way to the airstream heading to your driptip. @2clicker's famous sleeved coil is a good example, but plenty of people vape right off their coils by design, and some abuse pre-made micro-skillets this way.

If you are relying on passive wicking - the traditional atomizer - you need airflow directly across the wet heating element. Tanks, genesis style, wicks on the floor of the juice well, etc.

I wasnt really going as in depth as to split the discussion based on product viscosity, but I guess a seperate thread for thinned concentrates and tinctures could be feasible, but I was referring more to ecig with nic usage being split away from this thread. I started a new thread just for e-cig related business over in the vapor lounge, which seemed to be the best place I could think of for it, so if your using an e-cig hop over there and post up your builds, and keep them questions over there pertaining to such.

@2clicker What length are you cutting the wick/kanthal to for the 'diamondback coil'? TIA!
Yeah, I got the rest of my supplies in today, and am contemplating the same question! Since I need to leave the ReadyXwick longer than the coil itself, I am unsure how long to cut it. It doesn't seem like you can cut it after the coil is wrapped.

B T dubs, I went to 2 of my local ecig shops to check them out, and both were really cool when I told them I was only vaping "herbal concentrates". One guy had a friend who tried dabs on a mech mod, and said it "didn't work". The other one had had friends do dabs off his ecig (mech mod) right on the juiced cotton. He said "they liked it". :)

Also, this mech mod stuff is mad complex! I've been reading and learning like a college course! On the other hand, I can build a killer ecig now. After trying to convert my weed smoking friends to vaping, converting the cig smokers is just as tough. I know we've all discussed this before but man, it's a real struggle.

Mini rant follows: I think the stuff about how cloning is ripping off the legit manufacturers is in error. They make the assumption that if there were no clones, I would buy a legit Chi You. Sorry, no. 2 different markets. Big props to the legit stuff and all, I'm sure they're top notch. I still wouldn't lay out that kind of cash. So my point is, they're separate markets. One does not take from the other /end rant.

the last coil i used 2", but i think it could be shorter. im building later tonight and im gonna go with 1.5". as for the length of the kanthal im not sure. i will def measure tonight. i have a small tweak to the coil that i will test tonight, but wont tell unless it works! remember to bend your leads before they protrude from the ends of the wick. thus bending the ends of the wick as well. oh and if you have patience then boil the wick first. i keep hearing how the boiling helps it in regards to fraying. ill be testing that tonight.

i worry more about what kind of working condition the MFGs have their employees working in. original or clone.

True dat. However, we found that major corps like Apple were having their Chinese employees kill themselves, they were so miserable. So buying a legit device does not ensure good working conditions.

UPDATE: I tried building a diamondback, but it was loose and seemed unsatisfactory. I then tried 2 pieces of the ReadyXwick wrapped with 30 ga. Kanthal in a regular coil. In the process of making that I cut the wick a few times to make it fit. Had a bit of white fiber-type dust come off. It collected on the deck of the RDA. Didn't feel too good about that. One of the vape shops had given me a bit of some fancy unbleached organic Japanese cotton, and I bought some 0 nic flavored juice to try. I figured "fuck it" - I just wanna try this thing, so I built a quick 4 wrapped coil, fed some of the cotton thru it, fit the cotton under the wick and juiced it up. Tried a couple hits of the juice. Surprisingly strong, I didn't blow much vapor, but the "thickness" of the taste was up there with a pretty big dab. Those giant clouds the ecig guys blow must be tough on the lungs! I put a small dab on the coil, and hit it a couple more times. Not bad - I actually like the flavor - didn't think I would. Got less high than I would have if I did it on a nail, but some is probably soaked into the cotton.

@pigfoot did you get the 2mm or 3mm readywick?
2mm. When I made the initial cuts, it didn't seem to produce dust. It was when I was shortening two already short pieces, to wrap into a coil. It didn't fray when I cut it either. It was hard to wrap and install it without brushing the ends of the wick though. This may have loosened some fibers.

The Igo-w has a really constricted draw, at least from what I was expecting. But the vapor is so thick off the e-juice, that I just pull air around the drip tip.

I have enough "projects" that after years of vaping nic liquids I just can't go back to winding coils. So I'm always looking at repurposing, using off the shelf components. Not as competition for things like 2clicker's great diamondback (I'll order one too), but for the lazier times.

This uses a stovetop coil as a Vaped globe assembly plugin, found it on e-bay here. I've been looking for glass "saucepans" to put on the heater, to simmer and vaporize the erl without burning it.

This is a first try. It works surprisingly well for a small load, in fact it keeps on giving. I figure if I draw and blow out a huge cloud, it's lovely ... with nic juice it's great, but with erl I'm just donating 90% of my stash to the birds and bystanders, so easy does it. Then just add another schmear.

There are no doubt better ones out there, e.g. this one is bigger. The so-called "herb" chambers just ignite the herb, but they have other uses. Let us know what YOU find.

received these a week ago or so: https://www.fasttech.com/products/1734903
they fit in the standard bulb atomizer from fasttech and probably the orthers
1734903-2.jpg

im happy with them, they vape the cup very even and there is nothing woth mentioning left in the cup after a session. even loaded one (with oil, melted into the coil) and left it vertically lying for couple of days, no mess, the coil kind of keeps the material in place

@funkyjunky Wow, cool!

That's a lot like @Haywood's perfect Joyce atomizer, minus the wick, plus a nicer coil, plus a washbasin full o' oil as opposed to a dwarf's, no a midget's, no, a small person's bidet. The little ventilated sombrero helps too. What our Chinese friends won't make for us! I can probably guess what they vape in there down Shenzhen way ...

Now the 64k question: how much erl ya melt on there? Is it all just on the coil at the outset, or do you end up filling the ceramic cup and letting the heater warm & wail on the whole sinkfull the way @Haywood does (on his admittedly smaller bidet). You mention leaving yer device levitating around for days and not leaking. How much erl can that contraption keep at the ready fer ya?

That device only heats oil on the coil. Oil that melts and drips into the cup without turning into vapor just sits there and turns brown. @divinetribe should have atomizers like this in stock too. They work good if you don't overload it.

I prefer the taste of vaping oil from a wick, rather than right off a coil.

this is a tad late, but better late than never eh? FC brethren @mephisto sent an Oreico Storm-A RDA and some FC-2000 rigid porous ceramic wick asking me to see what i could come up with. well this is my first build on it and i gotta say that.... FC-2000 tastes VERY good! also, i used the well that the Storm-A provides so that any oil fall off will collect in it. simply turning it upside down for a sec with heat should take care of that. so yeah the taste... it def competes in flavor with the readyXwick and is also self cleanable like the RXW. the advantage of FC-2000 over RXW is that it will not fray or shed fibers so you can forget any worry about that you may have with RXW. the negative is that it is rigid and solid so the wire must be wrapped on the outside of it and it cannot be wound in the stovetop/diamondback fashion. i already have a new build in mind with the use of two short pieces of FC-2000 side by side as to provide the real estate needed for easy dab loading. pics of that build within the next couple of days... until then here are pics of my first attempt. if my new FC-2000 build works like i envision it then it will def compete with the likes of the diamondback coil.

clocking in at 2.85ohms. i am shooting for 1.75-2ohms on the next build.

again i would like to say how good oil tastes coming off of this wick. this stuff is legit.
