What's the best way to do the micro hitting technique that Magic Flight described? Do you put the battery in and let the herb vaporize and then hit the box like you would while smoking a bowl with quick/fast inhales?
My technique is this. Can't claim that it's the 'best', but it works for me. :ko:

I use the LB native, and let the temperature of the vapor stream on my tongue, as well as the temperature of the box against my lips be my guide.

1. Fully insert battery, wait the 5ish seconds for vapor to start.
2. Form tight seal with lips on LB
3. Take slow sip for a couple seconds.
4. Stop inhaling, leave LB on lips w/ tight seal.
5. Repeat steps 3 & 4, using the temperature of the LB and the vapor let you know when to start and stop.
6. When finished, remove the battery and take a fast hard inhale to stir material and clear the micro 'carb'. ;)

Adjust technique with practice.

Anyone have a different micro hit routine?
I think you've got it right, I do the same thing with some variations. I clear it after pulling out the battery, but I turn it over and shake to do the stirring like the dude in the video. If it feels good, vape it.

Not even close to the same.

A bong hit will you harder in fewer hits but won't last as long, will take way more bud and will have a more harsh come down.

With the LB it will take more hits to get as high as a solid bong rip, but it will use half the bud and will be a much nicer high.

One loaded bowl for your bong will go much further in your LB.

IMO.

I love how you can mess around with the breathing techniques, I swear everytime I hit it, I'm have a fun time experimenting

I still can't get over how much I love this thing and I have had it for a month now. I feel so lucky to even have a product out there like this, never mind having one.

What a find, what a product, LOVE THIS THING!!!!

I have now perfected my LaunchBox technique. I am now getting crazy thick hits like I get with my zap and my surfer.
1. Grind up herb as fine as possible with grinder.
2. Load trench so it is filled slightly higher than the top of the trench
3. Insert Battery and exhale fully
4. Place your mouth on the box without the stem being careful not to have your tongue or teeth in the vapor path.
5. Breathe in through your NOSE slowly like you are taking a normal breath.
6. Breathe in until your lungs feel full or you start choking on the vapor.
7. Hold breath.
8. Breathe vapor out through your nose
9. After my first 2 hits are cleared I remove the herb from the trench and grind it between my finger tips almost to a powder consistency.

Using this method and my super batteries(two of my batteries seem to last forever and a day I wish I knew which ones they were) I can go all day at work with one trench. I start a half an hour after I get into work I take 3 or 4 hits to start my baseline and I take about 2-3 hits every hour or so after that to maintain.

The herb does not blacken at all try it, you'll like it.
The one thing that always drove me nuts about the lb was the fact that in order to get the big hits I would have to draw super slow and I would feel like I was suffocating but breathing in through your nose instead of your mouth gives you the fresh cool air you need and it some how creates the perfect amount of draw on the box.
I'd love to hear how you guys do with this technique. If I didn't describe it right or it doesn't make sense just ask and I'll try to be more clear

pyronym: I just tried your technique and it does work as advertised. It's not the technique for me, though. I couldn't judge what I was getting and nearly overdid it. I'm used to judging what I get by the way it feels on my tongue, and I couldn't feel anything this way... until I stopped. Then I nearly choked. I advise anyone trying this method to limit their first attempts to short hits until you are used to it.

When you do it this way I don't think there's much airflow over the load. It just heats up and you get a hot, thick vapor. There's virtually nowhere for it to go except into your mouth, so you really don't need much flow. Hits like that make me cough, and coughing is hard on my throat and wastes vapor. Great for people who want thick hits, but I prefer cooler thinner vapor.

One more thing, I couldn't taste the vapor this way. I happen to enjoy the taste so that's another reason why this technique isn't for me.

I guess I'm just used to it running a bit hotter I can feel the vapor on my tongue I just know the first time I tried it I felt like I had scorched my tongue a bit so I just move it back a bit further. One of the reasons I liked this method was because for me I thought I could taste everything better. as fresh air from breathing in starts to pull the vapor I can feel it in my mouth and it just sort of swirls around on my tastebuds better. For me though this method seems to get the absolute most out of my herb I'm still amazed how far it makes a trench go.

pyronym: I just tried again using a much shorter hit. I still didn't taste anything until after I stopped hitting, though. I think I could pick up the taste this time because I didn't have to fight the cough reflex. Still, for me the vapor was still too hot and harsh even though there was a lot less of it.

I want to emphasize that this technique works well for anyone who enjoys thick hits. It's also a dead easy way to show a newbie how to take a slow consistent hit. You just have to be careful not to choke the poor newb to death ;)

Yo, the MFLB is an instrument that gives pleasure to those who master
the subtle techniques of heat modulation ( HM )through inhalation pressure and velocity.
Hey folks, you have to play the MFLB like any fine instument. Think of it as
the fender stratocaster of mood manipulation! Jimi anyone ?.

I have a question for you all. How many bowls do you think equates to a full trench? Like how many bowls would I have to pack in a bong to get as high as i would get off of one full trench on the MFLB? Or are they like the same?
IME I've found with the MFLB you have to use far less herb than what you'd use in a bong, moderate/large bowl, or even regular sized one hitter.

I've gotten very vaped from the amount of half the material that you'd put into a very small one hitter the compact sized type. You're not supposed to fill the trench all the way up to the top. :) hope this helps.

when using the box in the native mode, the part of the box where the stem goes gets kinda wet doesn't it? could that eventually create a problem, either inside the box coz of the moisture or something or to the wood itself

yea when using the box in native mode, the wood will get wet, but it wont do anything to the inside or really damage the wood. Maybe i'm dirty, but after heavy use, the lipped part of the box does accumulate some gunk that can be easily scraped away with a credit card or something.

about inhale technique:
anyone else tired of packing tiny trenches and taking small sips? It does get you wayy ripped, but it takes forever and is such a hassle.

i like to pack trenches past the top, and just start inhaling for as long as possible, keeping the battery in the whole time. shake a bunch, crunch up the weed, and repeat. :ko:

its not as efficient, but i always think about the amount of weed that goes in a blunt or bowl, and comparatively, it still saves a shit load!

I tried breathing in through my nose rather than mouth, as described in this post.

It was a completely different experience.

However is this vapor or smoke?

Perhaps a few people would like to comment as I dont know where the line between thick vapour and smoke lies.

It's vapor, breathing through your nose just keeps the box at a more consistent temperature so the vapor is more consistent. Because the draw is slower and more even there are no hot spots in the box and it roasts the herb more evenly. When you physically draw the area's of herb that the air path flows over/through cool down so some parts of the trench are hotter than others. With my method the vapor is a bit hotter but it is cooking the herb more evenly(at least this is the hypothesis that I've come up with over the past few weeks).
Does anyone else notice that when your herb does combust in the LB(battery left in or slipped in your pocket) The smell is far more pungent than regular smoking.

More importantly than any method described here is finding what works best for you. Like vapirtoo said it's like an instrument. the mechanics are the same on all of them but each of us is going to get a different tune.

I just took 3 hits off my box to start my day(it was mainly keif)

Hello all,
i am truly sorry if this has already been discussed but i was having difficulty wading through 166 pages of this post. i have received my LB and although i have not fully mastered the technique i am liking it alot. i do have an issue though with either the batteries or the charger. i was given in my kit a 15 min 4 battery charger that will charge in the home or the car and 4 "naked" AA batteries. after only 2 weeks use i have noticed two things with the batteries and the charger. when i take the batteries out of the charger when the LCD screen says "full charge" the batteries are VERY HOT!!! i almost burned myself on one. the other thing i have noticed the "nipple" end on 2 of my batteries the glue or something similar to it is seeping out the top and the white paper ring is now out and unstuck. these two batteries were not like that when i got them, in fact one of the two just happened after this mornings charge and it was soooooo hot!!!

is this supposed to happen?? the two batteries don't look safe to me now. why are they so hot??? do you think something is wrong with the batteries or my charger?? why are my batteries "blowing" up???

thanks in advance
Mike

hey guys, got a question here after reading stuff on reusing vaped herbs. someone mentioned regrinding it and regrinding it until it's a powdery consistency, and I was wondering if that would cause the LB screen to clog up and in the event that it does, if it is detrimental to the LB or is easy to fix.

I havent found it to be a problem with my box when it's fresh and it's ground up to fine it seems to hamper my ability to draw so I grind it again after my first few hits once it really dries out and I'm fine. You should be able to clean the screen and the unit it self with alcohol. I clean all my pipes(tobacco) with the following method and I have tried it on the LB

if you combust in you LB and you want to get rid of the taste/smell fill the herb chamber and the underside(within the draw hole) with non iodized salt then fill it with Everclear and let it soak overnight.
bang out the dried salt and pour some more alcohol through the unit to disolve and remove the remaining salt. Let it dry out for a few hours and you are ready to vape again and you should be enjoying a clean SWEET vapor. Don't know what the science is just know that it works.

That does not happen to my MFLB when I use it but I'm excellent at using my mouth, lips, and sucking. ;) I also have long and thick facial hair so maybe that has something to do with it?

They sent you a 15 min. charger with the vape? I must say I'm surprised if that's the case. An ultra fast charger (15 min.) has to be high quality to avoid using up batteries in a hurry. Hot bats mean they're overcharged or defective. I've been using a MAHA C204F (about $25) for years and the bats are warm but not hot. That model will also condition/discharge the bats if you choose, which is a good option to have. New bats usually don't reach their potential until they've been charged and completely discharged several times.

I forgot to mention in my post on micro-hitting technique what I do to get around the 'lack of air' problem you describe here. When I stop inhaling through the LB, I inhale through my nose for a few seconds. Then I go back to drawing on the LB for a few seconds, and repeat the nose inhalation again, etc.

I tried your method of only breathing in though the nose, and was surprised to find that it worked. I could taste the herb at the end of the process, although not quite as much as I do when micro-sipping. I haven't had the coughing problem described by someone else.

What I find this method to be quite useful for is getting the last out of a dieing battery. Not having the cooling airflow allows the LB to heat up a little more then it would with a fading charge.

Thanks for this; one more technique in the toolbox. I find that I bounce around techniques constantly, even on the same trench - just switch to what works best for the current conditions.

I need to clean my LB ... iv used it for 3 months non stop without ever cleaning it... tons of trenches, lost count

it still functions, but under the screen, its really gunky... even through the mouth hole, i see gunk everywhere.

and on the trench, the 2 long sides which form the crease on top... these 2 lines also have some stickyness to it... everytime i shake my herbs, the 2 creases have herb stuck to them cause its sticky.

what should i do?
