The Lotus Vaporizer

I got mine from http://ezvaporizers.com . With the coupon code FC16, you get 16% off. My Lotus with water tool adapter and long aluminium stem came out to ~120-125. Packaging was discreet, and I imagine that the billing will be as well (haven't yet looked.) It also came with 225g XiKar Purofine butane at a fairly reasonable addon price, a carrying case, a small concentrate jar, and the less expensive Honest lighter. It priced out to be cheaper than ordering through them directly, but there might be other vendors who sell for cheaper.

Thanks for that. It prompted me to finally order.

so I have given my Lotus vaporizer a week and I just can't seem to get it to work as everyone else here does. My vapor Genie my vapman and even my hammer all had a tiny learning curve but the one on the lotus seems to be rather difficult. as I was trying to use it yesterday, my only glass piece broke so I guess now I'm going to have to try and get one off of the dhgate. Maybe the Lotus wasn't working well with the glass piece or I wasn't using it right I only got combustion three times and was only able to get one good hit out of it which wasn't that great. I'm hoping that a good glass piece or bubbler will help the situation out because as of right now I'm undecided about how I feel about this vaporizer.:nope::hmm::bang::doh::rant::\:|

Explain to us your technique, that way we might be able to find flaws.

My barebones explanation of my process:
  • Preheat the plate for 5 seconds. Most of my friends can't seem to accurately count seconds. Use a stopwatch.
  • Don't draw too fast. Faster draw = more cool air. More cool air = lower temps. If you draw too slow, you will get combustion.
  • So preheat for 5 seconds using the inner flame. Then for the rest of the hit, lift the torch so that the outside flame tip touches the plate.
Let me know if you have any problems.

Got my glass adapters (Lego) yesterday. The playing around is gonna be fun.

So far I modded one of the clips so my creations can stand on their own on top of one of my DIY stands.

First creation is very simple but works great.

14mm 90 F-M elbow, 14mm 45 F-F elbow, and 14mm M whip adapter.

I think I have enough pieces to get the bowl to any location from my face to see which is best for me to use.

I never got that one, but tend to favor the pieces with raised gong joints for my Lotus. That way I do not have to remove or bend the stir stick.

Right now, my choice piece for the Lotus is a Sheldon Black Travel Bubbler (14"). I am currently looking at other pieces that will put my face a little further from the bowl, but likely will just upgrade to this mouthpiece and continue using this bubbler. My favorite aspect of it is that with the mouthpiece and down stem removed, I can fully clean this piece and have it ready to use in just 2-3 minutes.

The larger the piece the thicker the milk shake!

Let me know how long a tank of butane lasts, I was curious about that one, but wasn't sure how that flame angle would work with the Lotus.

I've been using it off and on all day, and I've barely made a visible dent in the tank. Something tells me it would take a very long time to figure out how long the tank would last :) But I'll try to remember to post when I do run out.

Right now it seems like my largest torch would last no more than a week of heavy use. If you get more than a week on a tank, I'm sold

I agree tank size is important for our needs. Maybe we should weigh our fuel to have a scientific comparison.
The Jobon I got holds approx. 6.5 grams. Weighed emptied and full. Twice.
Posted unit style a couple pages back. I somehow thought it would have been more but have not compared with any simular type lighters.
Would be good information to know.

Does the D020 with reducer bushing keep the lotus far enough away from your face?

edit: sorry i meant d020

Some think yes. I don't think so - I don't like how close it was - I used an angled 15 degree 18mm to 14mm female adapter to also give something bigger to grip when clearing the D020.

I'm currently using the D020--2-w with a female to female adapter, and enjoy the line of sight and distance from hotplate much more. Though I'm still considering an inline ash catcher from SunShineStore to pair with my J-hook. I think that's the best combination.

Actually it's a f-f adapter and an 18 to 14 reducer. No, it sits just below eye-level so you get a perfect line of sight to the Lotus cap from the D020--2-w mouthpiece!

I was quite surprised by how well they paired. I hadn't expected to use this piece with the Lotus, but it's a great match - and the F-F adapter gives a nice sturdy grip to lift when clearing the can.

We should totally measure tanks. It would also be a great addition to the Torch Lighter thread.

I had 2 empty "basic" Honest lighters.

They both held 3.4 grams.

Salutations everyone,

Excellent comment from Pipes, i wish to concur!!

And there's even what i call the range of application as i got too many butane lighters with an adjustment screw which felt pretty much useless, because the valve was 100 % open or so (e.g. zero margin)... That reminds me all torches ain't equal as the tank's capacity is only 1 variable, another would be power-related i guess...

I received my Lotus kit yesterday. Yes. Oh, yes. This will be quite lovely for cloud chasing and backpacking.

I'm glad I got the longer stem. It's not quite a discreet pocket size but it fits in the hand nicely; can't imagine wanting to get my face much closer. I'm finding that a "slow-ish draw" is more like a medium-fast draw with an MFLB. I don't quite have the slow, subtle hits down quite yet but I haven't combusted either, despite my newb self and monster clouds.

This evening I'll try it atop MF's Orbiter - rather looking forward to that.

Thanks for the accurate descriptions and good advice.

Side note: neat idea about documenting the various holding capacities of lighters.
