see I have one that came with my vac and just dont use it for purging... I use it as a glass mat. I stick with parchment for purge.

im waiting with baited breath for @DieHard results from the capital comparison.

do you usually winterize your bho dude?

That's silicone, how about that PTFE sheet they make? Good for KX and ISO?

Iso is perfectly compatible with silicone ... another reason I winterize using 99% iso. The slick sheet (PTFE) is great for butane and ethanol but is not as non-stick as silicone.

Parchment paper also uses silicone to give it it's non-stickiness.

Ok, sports fans, the results are in!
So I started with 20g of Pineapple Kush. 10 grams got a 3 minute wash in a pint sized Ball jar with the Kleen Xtract covering the flowers. Shaken a bit each minute. Then filtered through a 10 micron SS mesh filter. It was evaporated at room temperature for several hours until all liquid is gone and oil is not sticky to touch. The yield was 2.2 grams of rich amber shatter.

The other 10 grams got washed with Capital n-butane and then Vac purged. Yield was 2.8g of Amber shatter.

So to punctuate this comparison, I took the flowers from the QW
KX extraction and then ran them with Capital. The results there were .4g of very dark green sticky sap.

are we waiting for a capital run for tasters choice comparison?

5.4 g total from 20g flowers. Taste test trials are happening now.:smug:
The KX run tastes like pineapple and vanilla with a hint of celery.
The Capital run tastes slightly woody and piney with the same pineapple-vanilla-celery flavor.
This leads me to believe that there are more terps retained with the Capital. Both taste amazing.
The leftovers run is very dark green pull/snap, and tastes "greener" still woody and piney but none of the other sweeter flavors. Not bad but definitely not "Top Shelf".

I understood that nice job @DieHard

I'm always impressed with your yeilds!!! I can't get past 17%. Do u do anything special? Also how many washes did u do for your QWKX?
KX was one wash. 3 minutes in the freezer. Shaking after the first and second minute. Using about half a pint of KX.(from freezer). Also freeze flowers before extracting. Also broke up nugs into smaller pieces.

are you kidding?
I heard that mu'fuckers got a leprechaun working sweat shop hours hand picking each individual trichome off the bud and placing it in solvent to turn into GOLD!$

@DieHard s shit is on lockdown!
im waiting to pick up a boro tube some time for sure!

not that that has anything to do with this thread.

id love to see side by side on the top quality runs for sure!

edit: I see you posed them.

fuck im goofed tonight photos and half the page wouldnt load where I was at.

@DieHard excellent results brother :bowdown:
My yields frickin blow compared to that (although I did my first 99ISO run and evaped the first wash and I did four washes so we'll see if yields are better. And yes, we need your exact tek :science: damnit, lol, for both. Sad I can't do bho runs do to my living circumstances. @farscaper is right, you got this biatch on lockdown...I need to refine my tek for sure starting with a different induction heater and using a slick pad instead of straight pyrex...for a different thread...I'm rambling...I'm so faded right now....:peace:

fyi... induction still has temp swings. I am using a water bath to buffer this, the swings arnt as dramatic... but they are there... also if using a unit that sense the temp... its reading thermal mass... so the more mass the more stable.

I'm using a regular electric skillet plugged into a BBQ Guru Digi-Q and Power Raptor. It has a probe which I clip to a rack in the water bath. It senses the temperature and controls the skillet with high accuracy.

I thought the QWKX was evaped at room temp? Also ur straining process, do u strain out the flowers first then through the 10 micron or all at once with the flowers sitting in the liquid while straining?

Sorry, to clarify, only Capital run was evaped with the skillet. The KX run was evaped at room temp.
Edit: The BBQ Guru Digi-Q controller is $185 and the Power Raptor is $110.

Ya I use a 6 qt pot with water with the pyrex pie plate on top...double boiler style. I will have to get some different pyrex to attempt the water bath and that induction adapter....might also have to get that NuWave you have @farscaper since my Duxtop's lowest temp setting is 140*F.

@DieHard again, really well done and you definitely have it dialed in.

I never weighed my second wash from a while ago honestly I forgot about it in the freezer lol but any my total from 2 washes was 1.1g and I started with 5.6g so that's a 19% return my best yet. This was my first QWKX try and I'm pretty impressed. Hopefully I'll be washing more flowers next time. What are your opinions on running a full zip or break it down to smaller washes?

CrazyDiamond

Nice results @NickDlow.

A full zip will take more KX and longer evap times....just longer time frame total since you will be working with more flower and more KX. If I were you, I would stick to smaller runs until you have your tek EXACTLY dialed in as you want. That is the philosophy I'm using right now. I did 91 ISO a couple of times; just did a 4 wash of 7g flower with 99 ISO (I've only evaped run 1 so far...won't weigh until all 4 washes have been evaped and purged). I will experiment with the KX and also experiment with a mix of KX and 99 ISO.

Has anyone ever tried using the same bit of alcohol to run multiple small amounts. For instance taking a full ounce then breaking it down to eighths. Put one eighth in a jar and and use the least amount of KX possible so it barely covers the buds and then repeat with all 8 portions using the same bit of KX. It would cut down on evap time and minimize the amount of alcohol needed but I am still yet to try an alcohol run ... just a thought after reading the last few posts.
