Quality and amount of vapor of Ascent, comparing with Solo

First of all I would like to apologize for possible grammatical mistakes, since English isn't my mother tongue.

I've been reading and watching videos of portable vaporizers during these latest days, and the conclusion I've reached is that if we discard the MiniVap (because it's too big with the batery), the best one, talking about quality and amount of vapor, seems to be Arizer Solo.

But Davinci Ascent also seems to be a worthy opponent. What I have understood is that the Ascent's quality of steam is a little worse than the Solo. But, how much it's "a little"?
If it were really a negligible difference I think the Ascent could be the best option, since the battery lasts a little longer and it keeps the steam inside the body (avoiding using a box or something to carry the stem in the case of the Solo).
But if the difference in quality and quantity of steam were evident, in that case I would prefer the Solo. My priority is the quality and amount of steam, since I'm used to the Volcano (really happy with it), and the Wispr (my actual portable vaporizer) has not pleased me very much (about its quality of vapor, in other aspects it's great)

So, is there anyone who has tried the Solo and the Ascent? What's your opinion about the quality and amount of vapor of the Ascent, comparing with the Solo?
Is the superiority of the Solo in this regard clear?

I like both vaporizers but I would choose the Solo over the Ascent. They both give out very good vapor quality. They both have their place in my vaping arsenal. The Solo is my overall fav.

I do like that you can vape at whatever temp you want with the Ascent. I hope someday the Solo will have a type of computerized screen like the Ascent. Probably more can go wrong with a computerized screen.

Sometimes simpler is better.

You say you prefer the Solo. And I understood that you prefer it because it produces better vapor clouds than the Ascent.
I would like to know if the vapor of the Ascent is only a little worse than the Solo, almost equals; or if instead is clearly worse...

And, can I ask you the reasons why the Solo is your overall fav? Mainly the quality of vapor?

I do not have the Solo, but I have the Ascent.
Both will produce the same "quality of vapor", but they will produce a different "QUANTITY of vapor"

I do not use my Ascent very often because it is very slow to heat and vape. One session will last over 30 minutes and over 70+ small draws (puffs). My other vaporizers will take less than 10 minutes and 5 draws to medicate to the same level

I would suggest you buy the Solo -It has better performance for a better price.

Vapor quality doesn't vary from one model to another, only the ability to dial in specific temps, and in that respect, these two models are equally adept, at least in real world terms.

The Solo is going to get the edge for bigger hits, since it's more of a hybrid design between home and portable. The Ascent is designed as a pocket portable, with the more narrow vapor path that the design requires. If you want stealth primarily, get a pocket vape. If you want portability but don't need stealth and the easy 'in and out' of a pocket vape, most agree that the Solo is the best choice. Comparing these two head to head is apples and oranges though. They weren't designed to compete with each other.

I'd like to add that once you fix the vapor/air ratio on the Ascent, extraction is faster. With the leak you tend to draw too much air so you need to draw way more to extract the same quantity.

The solo is equally a "session" vape and not the fastest hitter around.

If you are willing to compromise the taste, it's perfectly possible to deplete the load faster in the Ascent by doing fewer temperature levels and/or starting higher. At first I thought the sessions were too long overall, but this was entirely my fault: I was sipping and enjoying the low temps and flavors, doing 5 different temp levels per bowl... no wonder it lasted 30 minutes!

Don't forget that the Ascent can do lower temps (on paper) compared to the Solo, and at around 170°C (or less) it lasts a long long time... @Ratchett: next time try to start your bowl in the Ascent directly @ 195°C, I bet you'll cough a lung and you'll get a shorter session.

All things being equal, I would give a slight nod to the Solo overall, with one caveat. The Solo is portable with good battery life but will not fit in your pocket. Also there is the issue of the glass stem, which could break. The glass stem in the Ascent is recessed in the device. If pocket ability is a must, then the Ascent. Otherwise the Solo. Both deliver excellent flavor, however.

Lol, @KeroZen True, one time I started a session with a friend, and we accidentally started at 400F (my usual stopping point). We only got a few clouds out of it - but even then, it didn't produce the vapor clouds I expect from my other higher powered vapes.

However, that was only once or twice, more testing is required

I borrowed and used an ascent back when they were new and found that(imho stupid) glass screen piece to be much more delicate then a solo stem I broke both pretty quickly, really disliked the design of the ascent glass parts enough that i would never consider buying one. Love the solo for when i want cordless long sessions.

Finally I have decided to buy the Solo. I've just ordered it now.
Maybe I'm missing a great vaporizer, but it seems (reading the thread) that the Solo is "a safer bet" (talking about amount of vapor). In addition it's cheaper.
Although it isn't very portable, I want to be sure I'll get big clouds....

I think you made a wise choice. I have a Solo. And I have an Ascent, and I do enjoy it for certain situations, but I still wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I won't go an on Ascent bashing here or anything, but there's PLENTY that could be improved. I'm on my fourth one.

The nice thing about the Solo is that, even if you "outgrow" it, it'll still keep a regular place in your rotation. That's a nice thing about buying a "tried and true," vape - you can plan ahead on where it will fit into your routine later on down the trail...

Don't have the solo (yet), but I feel the same way - the Ascent may be a great vape eventually, but it's only a year old - they need time to work out all the bugs.

In the meantime, the Solo has proven to be a solid vape - especially now that you can use them even when plugged in - making it a desktop vape of sorts
