Upgrading from Extreme Q

Yep, one of these. Hopefully not everyone is tired of giving advice on purchases.

My Extreme Q has been through a lot. I've broken the glass heater cover and somehow the black overall cover has come out/unaligned. A plastic component inside is cracked. It's missing 2/4 rubber feet. Replacing the glass cover would be 15 bucks, plus the actual work of replacing it. And then I still don't know if I can fully repair the rest of it (would the warrenty cover any of the rest?). But even with a broken heater cover and everything else, I can still get baked from it. But perhaps I should just upgrade.

Extreme Q dislikes:

- whip material is very rigid and can cause the whip to pop out of the bowl if moved at the wrong angle

- Relatively difficult to draw through, and the hits aren't as huge. It takes me a 2-3 "warm-up hits" before I can see clouds

- lights are so bright when I use it at the drive in

- Lots of plastic components. I've dropped it perhaps twice from waist height and something inside is certainly busted though I haven't noticed.

Likes:

- small bowl still gives reasonable-sized rips and effects. I'm not sure if this helps me conserve, but it feels like it.

- Comes with two of most all the components. I am very clumsy.

- Filters particulate matter out rather well

- Lightweight. I can put it in most any bag, no problem.

My buddy has a reclaimed Da Buddha. I have used it extensively.

Likes:

- The hits are instantly MASSIVE and easy to get.

- Because of this, I am able to just sort of hold the mouthpiece to my ashcatcher and use my whole ridiculous glass system. Since switching to vaping exclusively it doesn't get any use.

- Seems pretty simple and durable in design. He's dropped it repeatedly with no issue

- You can get custom glass components to personalize it

- The whip itself is a lot more flexible and comfortable.

However:

- Combustion happens semi-often due to accidentally tilting the unit. This was never even possible with the Extreme Q.

- It seems like the good flavor doesn't last as long as the extreme q. Perhaps my buddy just needs to keep the unit cleaner.

- I occasionally get matter in my mouth.

So, a daily vaper who takes it to the drive-in and houses, I'm looking for (in order of importance).

- Thickest hits

- Whip-style (unless bigger hits are possible with something else?)

- Easiest-drawing

- Reasonably great flavor throughout

- Replaceable components. Even the most durable glass is still glass.

- Durable non-replaceable parts

- Portable/light enough to be thrown in a bag.

I have not decided on a price range. Definitely under 500. The Cloud Evo seems like the best bet, but it's at the tippy-top of my budget. Is it really worth several Da Buddhas? What's with all the classy-wooden vaporizers? The Plenty seems like a really cool bet, but I couldn't shove that in the ashcatcher. And it's also $350! The Da Buddha is only 140.

Any and all advice and comments are welcomed. Thanks for reading this far!

Welcome to FC. I think your formatting is excellent, which makes it a lot easier to answer your question :).

My first vape was an Extreme Q. I modded it using a DDave adapter (a female/female 18mm adapter), a silver surfer glass wand and after-market silicone tubing. This made the experience better, especially when hooked up to a glass water piece, but I was still looking for more.

I also own an Arizer Solo and I've used a friend's Silver Surfer.

I then went and bought an EpicVape E-Nano. This thing is now my favourite vape, and I have no desire to look for another desktop unit. I did a lot of reading about it in the E-Nano thread, but after using it, it STILL exceeded my expectations.

So let's look at your list of qualities and I'll see how the E-Nano stacks up, in my opinion.

- Thickest hits
Yeah, the E-Nano gives you VERY thick hits when combined with a water piece. The walls of the bong almost instantly become filled with thick, milky, white vapour. The Extreme Q could make my bong mildly misty if I hit it with perfect technique, but the E-Nano is definitely a big improvement there.

- Whip-style (unless bigger hits are possible with something else?)
You can use the E-Nano without water filtering by just using the dry stem, but I've never personally done this. Many people over in the E-Nano thread say that it's still amazing, it just needs a few more hits to completely extract everything from your material.

- Easiest-drawing
The E-Nano has a tiny bit more resistance than the EQ (from memory) when combined with a water piece. This is nothing major though, and it's still very easy to draw from the nano. I've never had any issue with resistance from the nano, and neither has anyone I know who has tried it.

- Reasonably great flavor throughout
I was actually amazed at how much MORE flavour there was when using the E-Nano. I didn't realise the taste of bud could be so flavourful! Much better than the EQ.

- Replaceable components. Even the most durable glass is still glass.
Yup, any glass components (which are really only stems and adapters) are quite cheap. If you get the E-Nano, buy a couple of spare glass adapters and you'll be fine for a long time.

- Durable non-replaceable parts
The whole unit is very solid, very aesthetic and appears very durable. I don't think anyone over in the E-Nano thread has had any issues with durability. I certainly haven't.

- Portable/light enough to be thrown in a bag.
I was also surprised at how small and light (yet solid) the E-Nano is. The whole thing fits into your palm.

There is ONE potential negative that I can think of, though. If you live in a country where your AC power is not rated at 120v, you might need a voltage converter. I live in Australia, so I had to buy a 240v to 120v step-down converter before using the nano.

When I wanted to upgrade from my Extreme I went with the Silver Surfer and loved it. The next upgrade from that was the Cloud (now EVO). Based on everything you've said you want, I would suggest the Surfer.

Whatever you like!

I tried so many different ones.

Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL.

A vaporizer is just an extractor of Cannabis FLOWER.

Whatever helps you to do that with in your budget!

If the Buddha does it for you your fine.

I have one vaporizer that blows away most of them that is so cheap it's embarrassing $107 including shipping?

Taste the best however not cool because it did not cost $700?

Do what feels right to you.
Medicate with whatever works in your case.

If a $700 vaporizer helps someone that's great.
If I can do it for less than $200 I will.

Cannabis is the HOLY GRAIL!

In terms of meeting your criteria, I doubt anything will beat the SSV at the same price point:

A vaporizer just heats the flowers until vapor is formed to provide medication for the patient!

Holy Grail?
Not all vaporizers create vapour from flowers in the same way.....otherwise we'd all be happy with $10 vapes from China.

There is more than one path leading to the Holy Grail....& some paths are better than others.

tuk,
Which vaporizer are you referring to?

Here's my take for what it's worth:
Which vaporizer are you referring to?
The EXTREME Q is a nice vaporizer and priced reasonable (IMHO).
The SOLO is all around medical device.
The NANO, UNDER DOG, THE HI are LOG vapes (simple and pair with a water pipe or bubbler well)
The LSV is very powerful
The VAPOLUTION 2 taste amazing.
The CLOUD EVO and the HERBIE seem fun? (never tried however I think I couldn't handle them?)

CANNABIS is the HOLY GRAIL!

What ever extracts the medicine?
Factors:
HEAT - FLAVOR - EFFECT

Find your sweet spot!

ataxian,

Radio

stay true to yourselves
I just cleaned my Extreme Q, dismantled it, dusted it out, polished it and cleaned all my original glass pieces for it.
I was in absolute awe at it's beauty. I can't imagine how this marvel could be 'updated'

I wonder if one day there will be a future device that vapes 200% THC , now THAT will be the holy grail!

I started with the Q and did the upgrades. You don't like the whip material thats easy to replace. I stopped using the Q only because I feel it is a weed hog compared to the Solo. That is why I just ordered an E Nano. You mentioned you want it to be portable you can either get a converter or go with a DC unit from HI or UD. Then get a battery pack from Voltage Keeper and you have a portable. I have a Solo so I don't need the portability. I think for the price of what I am suggesting you will be under the price of the EVO or Herbie with enough left over for a bubbler from DHGATE.com. You mentioned that you like the whip.....I don't miss the whip at all. Whips are fine for the Q or a stationary home unit but not a must. Well thats my :2c:
