yes it does just relieved some stress with the 3.7 kiss persei and core

somethings not right with the Hercules, You sure you followed all the directions in the instructions, the center pin is in the center sleeve?

@Breathemetal the 1701 is going to be part of a new cartridge system we are developing.

All you have to do is wait and see.

now its working and been going for a bit it seems once it gets going it keeps heating but now I fear taking it apart and dread cleaning it

its weird im absolutely positive iv followed the video and assembled it correctly
it seems somewhere im not getting a connection every time I don't know where

I adjust the rod height the small end of the gold pin is inserted into the other gold pin no gaps in the Teflon everything nice and tight I don't know
it took me adjusting the rod about 30 times to get it to heat
so now it works with the same setup that it was just not working with 2 minutes ago so its blowing my mind

iv had the Hercules for about 5 months so im not totally new to this

Damn it. My Herc started to finally taste funky (haven't cleaned it since the Ti coils first came out with God knows how much oil run through it) so I decided to fully clean it and bite the bullet on the coil priming.

Anyway, after a long iso soak I wanted to take it a step further and torch the coil clean. Sadly I think i over did it. After I was done, the Ti wire on the outside of the coil turned ash white, and became very brittle to the touch. Lots of little bits breaking off, etc...

Needless to say I need to use a new coil but for the life of me can't find the second one I used to have.

FML.

Anyway, let this be a warning to you. Don't go crazy if you torch these clean.

I thought about torching them but ended up doing an extended soak in fresh ISO. Took it out, tried to absorb the ISO with paper towel then back in fresh ISO. Came out clean as new but slower than torching.

Terps Up, Temps Down
I started at 6 I read the instructions said max 7.5 min 5.0 I thought I could range anywhere inbetween
I put it on 7.4 and the button glows normal now like its working but my herc still is not heating

If using the Core, be sure you are aware of the dead zone between 5.4v and 6.3v. That may be a possibility. Hopefully it's a simple fix like that.

From the w9 site:
Warning Voltages between 5.4v and 6.3v are not available on the Persei and Omicron Vaporizers. Due to a conflict in the Low Battery Voltage circuitry.

so im having a lot of fun with it its great one thing im noticing is

my herc will suddenly wobble because it gets loose from the base connector and the persei head
how tight do you guys screw it onto the head
I thought I went snug is this normal or should I tighten more

I wouldn't tighten any more . if it wobbles after use just give a lil screw to tighten back -- but no more than original snug fit :)

With the titanium KISS cart, anyone know if the titanium can reach high enough temps to release fumes or toxins into the vapor? I was trying to find something on this but don't know what temp this process would occur.

What about the ceramic cup that the coil sits in?

I can't tell if it's a off taste in the oil or from the KISS, it's a brand new KISS...

These articles mention tin forming in the vapor from e cigs...they talk about it maybe being from the soldering, I wonder if this happens in a vape pen. @THC SCIENTIFIC does the KISS have soldering inside the cartridge under the coil?

The Ti Kiss carts have no soldering inside what so ever. There is nothing in there that will off gas at the temps reached by the kiss cartridge.

Most likely its the oil.

I rebuild my kiss carts & don't believe I've seen any solder whatsoever. I could be mistaken though as I've only built two since I got the herc. (ie it's been a while).

Edit: damn, he beat me to it

I just came across this while searching for whether anyone else has a titanium KISS cart giving off vapor without having anything loaded. A non-Persei but still TI KISS cart I reported DOA was just replaced very quickly, thanks for that, but upon testing it (brief pulse) to ensure the new cart works (which it does), it gave off a trail of vapor that smelled bad. After another brief pulse, more came out. Should this be vaporized off thoroughly before loading with anything, or is this not normal? I have yet to put any concentrate and it's generating significant stinky vapor. My interest in this cart is due to the premium materials it's built with, but I am hesitant to load and inhale with other contents present in the vapor. Thanks in advance.

It's probably just machining oil. I always do a quick dry burn on my carts to get it off. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks! I remember seeing something about this but thought it was somehow outdated info, at least for the non-KISS carts. Maybe that's the difference. Thanks again, perhaps that explains Jman's question as well.

the Ti wire gets seasoned and burns off any residual debri that might be left behind a couple of quick dry burns solves this.

cool if this is the case Im gonna go ahead and purchase a new one tonight hopefully its as easy as screwing in my herc since I have everything already

also was going to ask how good of a combination is the core and the herc
I would primarily be using it in the car as I use glass inside but how friendly is this?
with the wires how easy is it to set down I also assume I cant stand it upright in between my legs to keep it vertical either with the cord coming from the base
I was seriously considering buying one but I almost never run to a dead battery is this just overkill?
if im using a 7.4 herc can I set the core to 3.7

The core + herc is a great combination, provided you can get your herc to work. It is quite the pain more often than not.

nice collection there @ataxian seeing your double top made me remember mine I have a working double top I guess I can use with my regular carts and kiss until my new persei comes I never even pulled my double top out of the box one time in 2 years

You can use that double top to run your hercules too, just be sure it has the right resistance. You don't need to buy anything else to check the resistance if you have a multimeter.

My advice regarding your herc is don't ever take it apart once you get the resistance right. Use it till it needs cleaned or quits working, then disassemble it. It has three "problem" connections:
1-The screw at the base that goes into the gold rod. Tighten it too much and it won't make a connection.
2-The rod must be precisely positioned.
3-The gold button inside the gold rod. It gets filled with oil, making the spring stick, which keeps it from making a good connection.

Hope this helps.

@Big Baby Jesus I would like to respectfully take some of your points to task. "If you can get the herc to work" makes it sound more difficult than it is. Sure the learning curve is steep, and yes I fried an old single top by mis-assembling the Herc. But I got back onto the horse and learned by taking it apart and putting it back together, many times per week until I knew what each part did.

You're right about the stress points. The rod has to be correct, and mine was off by a mm and had no idea untli I posted a pic and G corrected me on it. The gold screw I don't see how people are getting it hosed. Mine hasn't been adjusted in months, and my cleaning procedure doesn't require removing or adjusting it.

Same thing with snapping the rod or the tongs that retain the rod. I never understood until I bought a herc here 2nd hand off SiCA. It was obvious from the wear that he was using wrenches on it. Made me realize the only tool my herc has seen is the little brush that comes with it, and a screwdriver for the one time I adjusted the gold screw. OK, and 2 quarters to smash the ti coil. But everything else is hand-tight.

For me the biggest thing was learning to master temps and not overheat the oil, causing all that buildup on the rod and retainer in the lower chamber. The 3.7v Herc is great for being non-leaking, and I barely ever have to clean that one. The 7.4 only leaks when I try to be too extreme.

I personally don't know what all the hubbub surrounding assembly is about. Every time I've had a short, it was simply because my center post was not out far enough. (I have a SR-74, not sure about the 71)

I personally can say this.

We took a very un educated person who was only into beauty and money lets say this person was not the smartest person if he/she was in a room full of 4 year olds.

he/She was able to take the herc apart and put it together after three tries, and get same results on the ohm meter after the 4th try until the 20th time.

Take what ever you like to task my friend. I am entitled to my opinion just like everyone else. I am constantly fucking with my hercules to get it to work right. It's a giant pain in the ass. That said, I love it when it is working right. I spend as much time tweaking it, disassembling it, cleaning it, as I do hitting it.

Has nothing to do with intellect Gary. It's a great product, that is also a pain in the ass most of the time. You don't really help your cause out shipping an item you haven't even bothered to write instructions for. Oh, here's the instructions from the SR-71, which have you place the rod incorrectly, because I'm too busy cashing checks from fanboys, working on 10 new things rather than perfecting what I'm already selling, and implying on forums that anyone who doesn't say solely good things about my products is lacking intellect.
