I was able to test out my new lotus and I love it so far. Unfortunately my buddy wasn't paying attention and torched the side 
I love how seamlessly the lotus attaches to any 14mm glass I have lying around. I purchased an inline ash catcher to add to a right angle j hook that I have. I can't wait to try that out 
I have used two different torches, the one that came with the lotus and a normal dab torch. The dab torch was easy to use even though it has a much larger flame. The j hook makes it easy to tell when to add heat and when to take it off. It vapes the bowl almost instantly where as the smaller included torch gives you multiple hits per bowl. Either way the lotus delivers a pretty heavy punch. I think MT has new life long customer

Be VERY careful with that dab torch - it's probably way too hot for your lotus - you may risk damaging your cap with that level of heat

Welcome to the club! Make sure you check out the torch thread, there's a few good torch suggestions for the Lotus in case you don't like the one included with the kit. Those torches are hit or miss - some work perfect, some have performance issues
What temperature should one look for in a jet lighter? I have this StoK mini dab torch that I know will be too hot, but I want to buy at least a second lighter in case I lose the first. It seems like a lot of links in the lighter thread are hit or miss as to whether you can find them on the reliable ebay stores, and I don't really trust the china lighters.
I think you want a torch rated to around 1300C - no need for dual flames, triple flames, or huge dab-nail torches.
These days I use my Zico T-38 torch, but the flame's tip isn't very sharp. Might upgrade to the Jobon one people have mentioned several times on this thread.
Here's the Jobon I got last week and just ordered a second for back up.
Nice quality and hefty enough not to get too physically hot. The desirable temperatures are well in the working range of this one.

The china one one the left works best with the lotus. The large china one in orange is for dabbing.

I would buy @Pipes torch lighter if I needed another.
^^ That's the one next on my list to buy - I like the fact you can adjust the flame height without a tool
I've heard bad stories about buying anything electronic or explodable from chinese wholesalers. Things like glass don't matter becasue what's the worst that could happen if it malfunctions?

Also many good stories. Electronic production is what they do best....and/or cheapest.
I don't think anyone likes the idea but it's the way it is. Production costs are simply way lower than most places around the globe. Quality is just as good as the specifications of the designed product. And the fact that their shipping is all government subsidized makes it even more attractive. In many ways genius.
Wish our governments thought like that... Kinda entices export, which is a good thing?

I have another ideal a little cooler with a ash collector. My last one worked however I coughed up a lung.
It kind of over medicates.
