Cheap High Quality Bubbler

Has any one ever purchased this rig? if so can you tell us if the ends are open (by not knowing what they were doing when blown) on the in-lines? This looks like a sweet rig, but would hate to have a simple chugger perc, basically open ends would be as chuggy as it gets. Looking at my in-line A/C from S.S. you can easily see the end is very rounded and sticks out to the eye easily, not so in this pic. Might have to take one for the team and report if no one chines in.

Things seem to be slowing down. Im waiting on the 2 recycler artists I read about here, they look MARVELOUS!! Hopefully soon both will be pumping out some nice art we can all appreciate!!

Lol, you do realize this is chinese glass, right? They don't DO custom orders. They pump out a million of them at a time. The sellers you see are not the people who make the piece - they are merely re-sellers.

Given how small refunds offered by some of these sellers for broken glass shipments, I suspect the price they pay for MOST of this glass we discuss is under $5 per piece.

Unless of course, you're willing to buy 100+ of a model, you might have some input on customizing your order
For the most part this is true, but not completely. I have personally seen Yingmin and CleanClearGlass both have a collaborative effort with customers.

I've seen Yingmin5 SAY he was going to request more non-branded pieces and a sidecar Gb-187, but I don't think he's actually produced anything new per customer request.

Can't comment on CCG as they seem to be relatively new on this thread

I really want to buy a Gb-187 and a D-022, I messaged Yingmin a little over a month ago asking about the 187 and said about a month, then "soon" when i asked a few days ago. I've lurked for a while now but the GAS is building up, I can't wait till i get my hands on those. But is there any real idea when either of those pieces will show up again?

Seriously? The rules for manufaturers and vendors are quite different and as far as I can tell, Yingmin is a vendor. He would be limited to post in a single thread that's reserved for all non-sponsoring vendors. Guess it seemed not worth the hassle to him.

I have posted this twice allready...

That sux, I figured retailers would have the same ability to have a dedicated thread like the accessory maker or manufacturers. I wrongfully assumed that Yingmin would have the same ability as a Glass Blowers Direct or a JoDa... oh well.:)

I envisioned something kinda along the lines of this thread:
Glassblowersdirect.com - Affordable quality glass

Also the $24 inline honeycomb I got from Alina has a closed-end six slit inline perc, in case anyone was wondering

I would be surprised if the vendors get a triple markup on this glass. If they did they would be less resistant to sending single piece orders and only interested in lots. I think double on most of the pieces is more likely. That is still plenty of profit for them with the volume of sales they must have. A piece like the D020 that sells for $18 before shipping probably costs them $9 or $10.

The big markup is at retail for vendors like your LHS, or slightly less so for Thick Quality Glass like resellers. Then someone like ioffer is somewhere in the middle.

Out of curiosity for one of the blowers in here, how long would it take a decently skilled glass tradesman (as opposed to artist) to blow something like the D020 in an assembly line environment?

Kathy has that piece, I seent it with my own eyes.
Clean Clear glass has two pieces I'd be all over with a few mods. They have a Swiss perc that needs a bridge support or a cheaper price. They also have a inline straight neck that needs to be bent. The inline is on my list cause its 18mm just don't like straight necks. Good thing about the inline though I'd its 18mm female.
Straight necks are lame!
I have made a reducer bushing for the mouth piece to add a 18mm piece of my liking.

I do like the volume achieve in a straight tube. 1/2 of the pieces I own are too small and I never use them.
That's why I like ash collectors so much because they help increase the volume of a bubbler or help a large water pipe perform better!:2c:

Having not had a large piece in over a decade, what is the big draw?

Can one not simply milk a smaller piece a little longer for the same effect? Or do the larger pieces cool that much better?

I like the bigger pieces for brutality's sake. The Bio rig in my avatar has a huge can, and a single dab on a ti nail will get at least 3 full sheets of milk. I'm not sure how or why it could seem more efficient, but the same-sized dab in this big fucker gets me more medicated than the same amount spread over on a small rig. Could totally be placebo because it's just my perception.

The first water tool glass I got was a 1L Ehle straight ice-pinch that I love to this day. So I am biased towards larger pieces and fine German glass. :)

Edit: I think there might be an advantage to bigger pieces in that one can take a big dab while the ti nail is pretty stable in temps. On the smaller rigs, the nail heats and cools much quickler, which feels wasteful on both ends to me.

I'm going to go try that piece out. Be back. :ninja::tup:

This is the largest I go!

Your right the D - series bubblers are smaller water paths.

They work great actually.

The small nail bubblers are a waste of money (IMHO)

The D - Series bubblers are a better choice.

I'm bitter because I have this collection of oil rigs I find lame.

So D - Series Bubblers are the smallest or a ASH CATCHER with a JHOOK.

I could be wrong?
Do I care?

I prefer smaller can volume because I simply don't have the lung capacity to enjoy the larger cans. I also like smaller because for me they are ergonomically easier to handle, and store more easily as well. Only bent necks for me!!!

Can't tell if that was intentional,

For me, a large piece makes it easier to see the glass milk up with vapor.

Can one not simply milk a smaller piece a little longer for the same effect? Or do the larger pieces cool that much better?

I think with a smaller piece, the vapor starts reaching your lungs quicker, so you start feeling it sooner. A bigger piece you don't really feel into you go to clear it. And given the size of the chamber, it forces you to do deeper inhales.

I would guess a larger chamber would be slightly cooler. It allows for a buffer for the vapor to accumulate and cool off. Plus a bigger chamber usually offers a bigger perc.

It depends on how I feel that day. When I want to feel super stoned I pull out larger tools and increase temps. When flavor chasing and wanting more of a constant hit like smoking I go for smaller ones with decreased temps, my larger pieces use tubs of water and allow for temp increase

I picked this piece up at a local head shop for 40$ today. I know people have given mixed reviews concerning the Cheech glass, but it was the best I could find without ordering directly from China.

My initial impressions are positive. I went through a session with my Da Buddha, and am undoubtedly very medicated as I type this. I am looking for a decent, affordable whip or mouthpiece and am considering ordering this. Can anyone recommend this, or another mouthpiece (or even whip) that would work well for this bubbler? In the meantime I have a very thick-walled length of silicone I am using but it is far from ideal.

Less than $30 for every thing but the $34 GonG!
You paid $40 for that?

Cheech glass is also more than likely made in China, but you are missing the point, here. I said nothing about where it was manufactured, but where it was purchased. I chose to buy from a local head shop for the sake of convenience and having the piece in my hands instantly. I asked about advice concerning mouthpieces, not to be chastised.
