Discontinued The Herbalizer

just wanted to pop in and tell you guys something you may or may not already know.

so it turns out that I love the bag system for the herbie a lot more than i thought i would. if I am not feeling well. this method is easiest to prevent from the suction making me feel even worse.

but any ways I will get onto the point. I also own a volcano and as a result have a few rolls of replacement bag material.

also, with so much use the herbie bags have been getting I have wear and tear holes along hte base near where the mouthpiece connects to the bag material. now part of this is because the bag gets a kink when i lay it down, pack it up, or fill he bag. I didn't want to spend the 30 bucks plus shipping for more bags So i took one of the old worn out bags off and replaced the bag with a new one from the volcano.

it was pretty easy really. i rolled down the rubber mouthpiece and found a double walled plastic washer holding the bad in place.

I pulled the ring out, cut off the brown ring that was holding the bag on and then removed the inner wall of the washer out. from here the bag came out easily.

make note of how the bag goes in, as you want to do the same with how the new bag goes in.

basically, i ran one end of the bag though the outer wall washer and folded the bag over the lip of the washer. then you push the inner wall washer in so that the bag becomes trapped between the 2 rings.

then trim off the left over folded bits of plastic and voila! one new bag ready to go!

also I made my bag way bigger this time, and it found it much more convenient! it takes 2.5x runs on the fan mode to fill it.

I should have done this a long time ago, rather than dealing with the worn out sticky bag i was using.
(btw wash the outside of the used bags, cut into strips, peel apart and simmer in milk and enjoy!! I add hot chocolate mix)

I've replaced two of mine with oven bags so far, they work and you can make them big or small. But there's something about that buttery soft herbie bag that I really don't wan't to go without.

Just opened my third bag and I'm already anxious about the crinkly future that may lie ahead of me...

Does anyone know of a safe way to clean the bag? I may have to try something soon. I really can't justify the price of new bags when oven bags are about a dollar a piece. maybe I'll try turning one inside out and boiling it? I feel ISO could be bad for the bag but if the boiling doesn't work ill try that.

On a side note the tape from the old bags does make for a tight fit around the bowl. I can't remember who pointed this out but thanks! Two fit perfectly and I haven't had a bag budge since.

Fresh bags are the way to go. Better taste and performance for sure.

Instead of the using the orange kapton tape, I cut a small piece of oven bag (5in long by .5 in Width), twist the piece up, and tie around the bag. Cut off any excess length. Then slip over the green cover thing.

Kapton tape is going on my list of Vape things to buy from Amazon.

Here is my older method of bag change.

Those Renyolds bags look way quieter than the ones i bought. I'll have to look around for them. Note the kapton tape, thanks Been Vapin!

I've been pushing the higher end of the Herbie with a shorter wider whip and I find myself coughing even with my water pipe! Not so much from harshness but because of how milky thick a freshly packed bowl is. I know my lungs are full of vapor when I see it start coming out of my nose!!!:ko:

First time with oil/keif at 445F I have ash in the pad now crazy!! :science:

Vape Like a Boss Tip: For very dark ABV sprinkle the screen with a VERY thin layer of material...proceed to 445F...Hit until wispy and gross. It should look expresso brown if not you put too much material on the bowl!

Oh yea, You will probably be ready for bed just warning you now!

I found the pic on Google image search. Its not like it is a top secret pic. If Herbalizer would like the pic removed from my post, I will do so.

Just outfitted a Pelican 1400 for Herbie. It was a Lil tight, and only had room for two valve boxes. Luckily 2 valves/balloons can fit per box. All ready to go for TSA carry on.

Sorry for the shift quality pics. I will update em.

Hey all
I have been reading the forum .. Got to page 73 so far lol
Earlier lots of people were mentioning that the herbie smelled up a room significantly more than other vaps. People speculated it was due to loose connections etc. and then there wasn't many more comments about it.
Could I get some opinions. I currently own a solo and it barely smells a room up, I just exhale out a window. Would the herbie be much worse?

Can someone please post a high quality picture of the Herbalizer's halogen lamp while the lamp is on in their unit?

I am looking for this view, but with the heaters light visible and clear.

Vinie01, I own both The Herbalizer and The Solo and haven't found Herbie to be smellier at lower temperatures. However, if you session Herbie at high temperatures, the vapor will be thick and certainly could cloud up a room more so than The Solo, especially with fan assist at 445F. Keep in mind The Solo at level 7 max is only 410F. Yeah, you can blow some pretty impressive clouds with Solo, but Herbie can produce more vapor quicker due to its enormous power. That said, if you're blowing the vapor out the window it shouldn't be much of a problem with either unit.

Also, keep in mind that The Herbalizer does make a little noise due to its fan which turns of and on throughout your session. It's really more of a light hum and is not a problem for most of us, but bothers some. So, if you need a silent vape so as not to bring attention to your activities, The Solo would be a better choice.

As @Chill Dude pointed out, the fan pulses throughout a session to maintain temperature and this can cause unwanted noise for some. More importantly though with regards to your question, @Vinnie01, is the fact that when the fans pulses it will blow a little vapor into the room unless you remove the bowl from the Herbalizer in between hits. Personally, I don't like removing the bowl between hits for convenience's sake so I sacrifice those little bursts of vapor. But if you're trying to avoid smell, then you definitely would need to remove the bowl.

Good point! Herbie does emit small amounts of vapor when the fan pulses which could add to the smell in a room. I also prefer to leave the bowl on as the small amount of vapor that escapes is not a concern to me either. Like you said, one could always remove the bowl between hits to avoid the vapor leakage.

I usually remove the bowl in between balloons to give it a shake, and so the bowl doesn't heat up too much. That bowl can get warm. Escaped vapor is pretty minimal when leaving the bowl on. A few puffs here and there.

I know its been posted around the board before and specifically in this thread, but I can't seem to find it today, so please forgive me for not giving proper credit. Will be happy to edit post and give credit for...

Vaporizer Signatures are real! I first read about them in this thread but I admit I didn't quite believe that it was real. The logical side of my brain was thinking about the process of heat+herb=vapor. As long as the source of the heat is the same temperature two vapes should be roughly the same. I'm leaving out the conversation about convection vs. conduction as that is a larger topic about the delivery of the heat, and that does make a difference.

I've been using Herbie to the exclusion of every other method of delivery for the past 6 months, and with my aunt using our 2nd unit quite heavy I've gone back to my PAX for a while. I noticed Herbie wasn't hitting quite as hard as he did when I first got him, and I was thinking it was the current batch from the dispensary just wasn't up to par. I loaded the same herb ground fine into my PAX, and it felt like a punch in the face :D.

Later that night I used Herbie for a nightcap, and it was nice, but didn't have the power it once did. I think I'll be using my PAX for a few days at least to try and 'uncondition' myself to Herbie.

Herbie is still my favorite vape for many reasons, but this tells me there is a concern with long term use of a single vape (at least for me). Since its clear to me that marijuana will be a long term part of my life I need to rotate my use of vapes - why do I think I just came down with a case of VAS

p.s. I just got a notice from UPS that I have a package inbound today from San Diego - it will be nice to have two Herbies in the house.

Such great advice thank you.
One follow up question though. So the fan will pulse during a session? What if I shut the fan off after I fill a balloon? Does it still pulse even when off?

The Herbalizer has multiple fans, each for a different purpose. The fan that maintains temperature isn't user controllable. It will come on every so often for a second or two if the unit is in vaportherapy mode. If you're using bags though then you can simply turn the unit off after filling a bag and then you won't have to worry. It's more of an issue if you're using glass or the whip.

I rotate between Herbie and the EVO, with the occasional appearance by my Lotus. Between that and using the Solo and a concentrate pen for out and about I feel like I have the vape sig tolerance thing licked. Herbie and the Pax are so different that those two can really help keep your system off guard if you just use the Pax every couple of days for a session or two. I also have a Baker on standby in case I need something completely different to shake things up (which is how I would view your Pax). Another thing...having three to five different strains on hand really helps as well. With a few strains and just two vapes you can avoid this tolerance issue altogether.

Last question I promise. Just to clarify...
I could shut it off to avoid leaked vapor or remove the bowl (heating element thing)? Either should work?

It's as simple as convection vs. conduction, as you have two extreme examples of different vape signatures.

You can remove the bowl and it will still pulse (it's the fan and the heater activating for a moment) but no leaked vapor, or close the lid which will put herbie in standby mode.
