Thank you OF for the reply. You have helped me a great deal the past few days. Someone else from the mass drop drop made a comment on the site saying the same thing i said. Ill have to look into it. Both the bent and strait stems fit loosely in the unit.

Lift the SOLO off the GonG.
Stir your flowers.
Put the SOLO back on.
Finish your load.
Take a break?
You must be telling a sick joke?

But how do you lift the Solo off the gong without burning yourself? Are you wearing welding gloves or something?

You're welcome. Glad to help when I can.

I'd be more concerned now. Any chance that unit is used? Or at least heated a few times before?

Anyone who didn't buy from Mass Drop have loose stems out of the box?????? Spooky.

If you need gloves to touch your Solo at any point I would be really REALLY worried.

I've drained the battery in direct sunlight and even then it didn't get anywhere close to too hot to touch!

is there anywhere i can get a 113 seal without the stem? $25 seems like a lot for a stem when i have two brand new ones. maybe amazon?

Puffitup sells them for like $3 with free shipping. just go to the solo section!

It did not seem used. Massdrop states that all products come in the original packaging inside a mass drop shipping box. Im not sure what the original solo box looks like but what came inside the mass drop box sure doesn't look like original packaging.

Only the gong bowl and a portion of the glass below the bowl on the gong is hot enough. you learn where to handle a hot gong so as not to burn yourself ( very often)

I don't get it?
Why would you need gloves?

The original box is nearly a cube of brown cardboard with the color and 'assembled in Canada' hand stamped on the outside. Inside is a fitted foam block with the unit and charger and a very short box with the stems, the silly aroma dish and some random herbs to put in the trash. There's also a narrow bar code sticker on these here.....

This is my first solo....so I'm not sure what is "normal". Is the loose fit something i should be worried about? Should i contact ariser and see what they say about it? Not sure what to do here and a little bummed i can't heat this baby up and take her for a test drive.

Modnote: back to back posts merged.

Okay so what i got is NOT the original box. I received two boxes inside the shipping box. One is a brown cube with stickers on the top of it. One sticker being the model number, the other states "cap Case Panel", and the other states "C E". no hand stamped label is on this box. The other is a white box that had the stems, herbs, and instructions.

edit- crap there i go again with a double post, I'm not too worried about if this solo is new or not. I trust that it is a brand new unit from ariser.

The arizer packaging for the solo is very low key, plain brown box with the solo wedged in by the charger in a thin white box. stems and aroma bowl + dry flower pack in another thin white box. one piece of wadded up brown paper to keep it all from shaking around in the box.

EDit; found the box it does have cutout foam inserts, not fancy for storage but practical for shipping.

Charge it full.
Use the way it comes.
It works well.
Improve your experience as you go!
The stem will get loose.
Just be careful!

That is standard Solo packing. Do not worry. When i bought mine new almost 2 years back it came like this.

Grab the gong where it's cool enough not to burn you( the end of the ground glass male fitting ?) some people slip a small piece of silicone tubing over the gong some gongs are textured(bubbled, nubed ?) and stay cooler. or just wait a minute before handling as it cool down pretty fast.

I paid about 5€ for my stems at a german vape vendor (most others even take 10€!).

So how many stems have you detroyed already? :D
Btw I'm about at stem # 15 right now using my solo for 2 years mainly while taking walk outside.

Sounds to me like you should investigate one's of Ed's stems. Unless you like breaking 'em? That's what one every third fortnight? Full points for dedication.

Ataxian would be proud of that I bet. To get that kind of volume he has to go for bubblers, ash catchers and stuff.

I've yet to break one, not that I haven't tried. I've dropped the Solo a number of times, mostly indoors where the carpet helps (although I'm sure you can snap one off if you try enough....) and a few times in the garden, once onto the concrete. Mostly the stem comes out in those cases? Put a bad chip in the base of one that came down that way.

Glad to hear you're not letting a little broken glass spoil your day.

Decided to loosen the base plate screws and see how tight arizer sets them in the factory. I nearly burst a blood vessel trying to loosen them they where so tight. I think this could cause the cracks some are getting. This could be totally random if arizer use hand assembly. torque setting mistake?

I would not assume that it was over tight, although it's certainly possible. "Breakaway torque" is different than tight. Those are roll formed threads in Aluminum with the none too refined tool that cut them still jammed in. I thought the same thing until I noticed that as I pressed my thumb on one to steady the screwdriver, the plate dropped down a bit. That screw was not snug, or even close, but still was hard to unscrew. And screw back in. A tiny bit of grease on the threads changed this completely. At one point I convinced myself I broke one out over tightening. I felt the sharp edge sticking out when I ran my finger tip over it after a battery change. So I think it's possible to do, at least enough to not go so tight again.

I guess broken tabs aren't fatal, but the Solo is so keen it just doesn't seem right......

OK, maybe I'm not explaining myself properly. When using my Solo with my gong and WT, if I lift the Solo off my WT, the gong stays inserted inside the Solo. So how do you remove the hot gong from the Solo without burning your hands?
Sorry I did not understand?
I configure a chasien and use it as a carburetor so I don't have to lift the vaporizer. That's another way.
Here's a old photo of what I mean.

The middle piece is a CHAISEN.
Their $7.00 on ebay.
Maybe $10.00 now?

For me it's like LEGGO'S in GLASS.
I even use the SOLO with my big volume water pipes.

The SOLO is the best medical device for my situation. I have other more powerful devices however the SOLO is perfect because of the low temperatures I can achieve.

Sorry if I misunderstood your question!

Some times I feel like smoking a joint however the SOLO I can tolerate.
The JOINT takes my breath away.

The SOLO is more respectable!

Got my Solo today from Massdrop (M1T0). Stems seem to fit right in there not too loose not too tight. Instructions say cannot use while charging. I thought this was changed. I haven't tried it yet. I'm patiently waiting for it to charge. Got a fresh zip of Pineapple Kush and I'm ready for some serious "learning".

Arizer hasn't changed the instructions with the newer model Solos. You should be able to use and charge at the same time. Just do a full charge. FCer OF suggests charging 4 hours past the solid green initially.

I use my stock stems all the time and love them. I was thinkin about getting a wood Eds TnT stem but i really have no idea how wood will affect the vapor, and i am worried that i would dislike it because of the stainless steel bowl. i feel like i would be sensitive to steel. anyone got opinions on it though?

Im not kidding i have a super low tolerance. I vaped 0.02-0.03ish and got extremely fucked up the other night. Ive only been high twice :p

Also, do you guys really stir? How much of a difference does it make and what do you stir with?

If I stir it's because I added something to the stem like kief or hashes or oil, or if it's a whole nug placed in there. More surface area with nugs and more even vaping with extras. If it's just ground flower I rarely stir as it vaporizes fine that way.

I did not note any metal tastes when I used one of Ed's Solo stems. I have one of his MFLB stems which I enjoy, adds a little bit of woodiness to the vapor at first which I don't mind. I vaped a nice amount of hash oil with the stem in place to help coat the insides with resin/reclaim. Still has that wood taste but I kinda have to look for it now.
