The gold plating is fully intact but it is kind of bubbled off whatever metal it was fused to.

It's Gold over Copper. My guess is it's severe heat that causes it to separate when the coating expands differently than the base. As has been said, it's a cosmetic issue for the most part. Gold, itself, is basically inert to us (no common soluble Gold salts for us to absorb it), you'll find elemental Gold in many food products.

By all means enjoy your new toy, be cautious but not shy with the heat. Most guys start out too cold I think.

I love my vapman! I have no idea how this vape doesent get more love! Its just so damn tiny you can hide it nearly anywhere and when its broken down NO ONE would know what the hell it was! Every time I go somewhere or someone stops by my place I set it down on the table and tell them to describe it to me and what they think it is. Not one of them guessed correctly and I literally blew them away when I showed them what it was for and how to use it.

Semi-fine grind, 7 second torch time and then rip. then 5 second torch time every rip after that and Im blowing some NICE clouds!

I fill it all the way up. I dont press hard or anything but my load tends to kind of smash when I screw the top on. Im still getting my technique down because Im using 3 different strains at the moment but with fresher herb I tend to get around 4-5 medium sized draws. With dryer herb I tend to get around 3-4 HUGE sized draws.

I know what you mean. Since I got my VM, I stopped looking for vapes altogether.

What did it for me was:

1. The price is right.
2. The cool steampunk design.
3. Tiny Size.
4. No batteries to deal with.
5. Virtually Zero maintenance.
6. Super easy to clean.
7. They sell all the parts separately.
8. The company backs up their product with awesome customer care. They are really approachable, they answer emails quickly and are super helpful.

Above all, I really LOVE the Ritual. I just don't get that from battery vapes. They're like sucking on a milkshake.

I think this may actually be a drawback for some people though.

Some may not be interested in the ritual at all, and may not hold out long enough to learn how to use it and get the most out of it.

If you dedicate a bit of time, it becomes second nature and you don't have to think about it anymore.

To me, this little vape is both a really cool and efficient machine and also a work of art.

I love this little vape!

Excellent post. I think you hit the proverbial nail soundly. It is not a vape for all folks, or even at all times for those of us who appreciate it. It's a very personal thing, if it 'fits your pistol' you're in luck. If not......

One additional advantage I think it has is reliability. If you have fire (meaning you can keep the lighter going) you have a working vape. Very very little to go wrong. Confidence in your pocket. It's one of a very few vapes I could put in a lunch bag with appropriate spares (a couple lighters and a can or two of fuel) and have vaping ability I could depend on. To me, that adds to the 'work of art' aspect as well. A 100% reliable tool has value in that alone.

Thanks for the thoughts.

OF, that's a very point that I missed. 100% Reliability!

When something is this reliable, you don't even think about it.

Thanks OF.

Ain't that the simple truth? "You never miss the water until the well runs dry".

You're welcome, glad to contribute, but you started it.........

Thanks again for the thoughtful post. I'm sure it's got folks smiling all over.

@llamaman001, agreed on all counts! How full do you fill the bowl? How many rips before your material is spent?

I tend to fill up the bowl a mm or so below the screw that holds the mouthpiece in place. I don't pack it down at all. With dry/powdery herb, I get 1-2 big hits off it, while with sticky/wet herb I get 3-5. However, how big your hits are and how many you can take mostly depends on the torch's flame length (there's a good guide on the website/in the manual to help gauge). The smaller the flame, the smaller the hit, and the more you have to "warm-up" the metal between hits.

When on the go I was always fumbling around with a couple pill containers, one for fresh ground weed and one for avb. Well I saw this YouTube video for making a double sided container and it works quite well!

I thought that the "normal amount" of draws/hits people were getting from a bowl were between 10-15.

I usually get about 12-14 draws from a full bowl which leave the ABV very dark. I don't stop until I get at least two burnt-tasing draws.

Does anyone else get 1-5 hits total from one load?

I'm trying to wrap my mind around how to get only 1-5 hits from a bowl.

Peace :peace:

Woah... 10-15? I can't even fathom that either, haha. I just hit a full bowl this morning and it went out in 2 hits. My ABV is a dark, golden brown, too. I tend to inhale very, very slow, for a good 20 or so seconds, and that's all it takes to clear it. Doesn't feel like I'm doing it wrong, feels like a regular bowl or a few nice bong rips.

I get 2-7 hits MAX, I do tend to take long full breath draws though so maybe we are hitting it differently? I like to start my hits slowly and then speed up to where Im almost at a full and fast inhale before finishing the hit.

I think there are so many variables going into a hit that everyone is going to have a different experience. As awesome as it is, it's kinda inconsistent

Interesting... I also draw softer at first and harder and harder later in the draw.

I'm not being shy with the torch either because I have combusted like three times already.

My lighter is a cheapo one but it works well. I had to lower the flame length because I started combusting when I made it longer/stronger (that's what she said).

I've been torching it for about 5 to 6 real seconds between draws.

True, there are so many variables it makes it hard to compare.

I'm really cusious though. Can anyone else chime in?

I believe you and I have the exact same tech MOJO

Ok. How about quantity?

I fill up to where the center screw begins.

Grining may also be a factor? I have very fine ground stuff...

I'm a sipper, I probably average 10 or 12 hits to a load. I fill the pan completely and heat aggressively but not extremely so if that makes sense?

It's definitely a personal thing and subject to the herb. This is a very versatile vape indeed. IMO another great feature to recommend it.

My advice is to use it the way you prefer and not give the proverbial 'tinker's dam' (which doesn't exactly mean what you might think......brush up on Shakespeare.......and is correctly spelled) what the next fellow does. To each his own?

My ritual is to grind up as fine as I can, like a powder. Sprinkle it in till it reaches the edges/just under the center screw, and close it up. I use the torch to "warm-up" the mica shield, then apply the torch to the gold plate for 5 seconds, stop for 2, then apply again for 3-4. My draws are consistently very slow, like sipping scalding hot liquid, ranging from 20-30 secs. After that, if I do have any hits left, I heat again for 4-5 seconds.

Being outside changes things a lot (ambient temp plays a big role I feel), as does having the fan on different speeds in my room, and most especially torch flame length.

Thanks for the detailed description P00pf4c3.

I think our loading and technique are pretty much identical. The only exception is that I don't grind that fine. My stuff ends up fine, but kinda fluffy – which I'm sure makes a difference overall. I do get about the same amount of draws as OF gets.

I also agree with OF about versatility and not giving a tinker's dam about how anyone else does it, but it is cool to compare notes on all these things – just don't worry about it and don't think that one way is the correct way to do it.

I have said before that I'm not a Cloud Chaser. Im an "effects chaser," so as long as you're getting the desired effect, who really cares how you got there?

Well put, and good attitude to have, IMO.

With one small quibble, you should care how enough enough to remember....... so you can do it again.

And again. And again.

Oh I'm not worried, I just haven't seen many people discuss how they use it. It's cool to see other's approach to the vapman. I almost wish I got more than 1 hit out of it as I like having my long sessions, but that's why I'm looking for a desktop unit now.
