Hey guys getting ready to try a Hercules SR74x with a BLACK rod for 3.7 operation. Looking to pair it with a nibbler xl for at home sessions. I am experienced with 7.4 power but new to black rod set up. Any tips anyone? Also does anyone have a any input on a Sony vtc5 battery? Will this be ok for a low resistance black rod? Or am I better off getting the AW 18650? Thank you FC

i use this set up exclusively. very important to let it warm up from a cold start, prob about 15 secs or so. then just pull on it very very gently and consistently and you will get massive tasty clouds. also, dont over load with the 3.7 rod, less is more!!!!

^^Thank you for the prompt reply @gudiss . So don't load heavy on the 3.7 black rod set up? I have loaded mine .25 buffer and about .2 on top to vape. Hopefully this ain't too much. So while it's warming up, no pulling on the unit?

that should work well. i dont pull on the unit during warm up. i do hold it basically level so a not to promote leaking into the lower chamber while heating and not pulling. also, you need fully charged cells or the core.

Since I got the first HERCULES (SR71)
I haven't set up a dual head.
Seriously I'm learning all over again.
I have 10 empty 2.4 carts I need to use up. The double head set up is perfect to use them up.
I use the TANK, KISS the most lately.
I have a new SR74 however I heard there is an upgrade to it so I'm waiting before I use it.
The charger is repairing my batteries.
This W9 TECH stuff is pretty luxurious!
I really need a CORE at some point!

the white rod on my sr-74 has turned black and chard up a bit where the rod sticks out of the oil and above the coil
where the coil sits its bright white after an alcohol soak any way to clean it completely
or does this not affect my taste and will eventually happen ?

i use a hammer top and typically have it on while pulling slowly! once it gets heated up you can toggle the switch. you will feel it-
I also have the hammer top. Thank you for the pointers!! Much appreciation!! I will try the BLACK rod setup after work. @Resinberg yes the white rod gets gunked up after a while. Normal stuff here. To simply return to brand new status do this, assemble your hercules back to normal EXCEPT your oil coil and mouth pieces. Smash that power button until it glows. About 15-20 seconds with SR74 white rod. U will see miracles!! The rod will self clean itself once it gets hot enough. Keep holding the button until it becomes white and no more residual smoke. Might want to do this in a well ventilated room or outside. Stuff smells burnt. Good luck!

I burnt 2 7.4 kiss cartridges the first week I had the persei. Im better now and have been using the same 7.4 cart for 3 weeks now. I bought a few 3.7 carts and want to know how to properly use these?
How long do I need to hold down the button?
Do I need to pulse?
Can you burn out the 3.7?

Just ordered my herc over the weekend...can't wait for that to get here.

Mine KISS cart 7.4v is actually surviving, I just try to don't push the power on more than 2s and I never let the coil becomes dry, but it's only a week ago I own a Persei!

The Hercule is a fabulous device, I was afraid it was to much complicated, it's not, really happy to get it, I didn't touch my nails since I own it...

The first day every 3 or 4 hits I loaded again another 0.1-0.15 several times and when I opened the top screw during the evening I saw at least 0.5 sit on my coil! It don't use too much oil tp produce big clouds!

I already asked this but didn't get any answer, I put 2xrcr123a (3v) in my tube and attached my Thermovape evolution cart (6v) to my tube with the correct adaptater, it works like with the TV tube but it becomes very hot (as the original), is it an issue for my persei top?

hey man it sounds like that might not be ok... too much heat can wreck the top. I bet you could use the bottom most part of the Hercules , then your adapter (tater) and then the TV cart and you would be all good I bet

What might look like is happening is the adapter might be causing an issue with the tops, i would not use it.

Just realized I haven't seen the heat shield for my herc in over a week.... is it needed for use with the Nibbler XL? I don't want to buy a replacement if I don't need to.

I haven't used mine since I got an iris but I had a slightly different technique (maybe a little more finicky than @gudiss though)

What I did was I would load it up 0.2-0.3 buffer than another 0.2-3. Give it a few puffs like a cigar to melt the second load in a little but not all the way so there's a little pool on top. Then slowly puff on it until you see clouds (all while holding the button down) once you see dense clouds, keep pressing (or keep power on with herc and inhale slowly)

is the 8 fully compatible with the iris v2? i'd love to have an 8 for ejuice purposes and if i could use that stainless steel body with the variable voltage and protection features to run the herc too....well that sounds damn lovely to me while i sit here and plot purchases. also makes me wonder, is the iris top stainless or aluminum?

mostly i bring it up because i was poking around the w9tech site and when i looked at the 8 it has an option to buy the hercules with it, and it was my understanding running the herc without protected circuits was foolish unless you made damn sure to check it for correct assembly with a multimeter.

Indeed what you typed is the truth. Running a Hercules sr74 with no circuit protection is risky. When u become familiar with the Hercules you will never/rarely have shorts. For those new to SR74 and vapes it is bad idea to buy a 8. It is intended for the experienced people. Meaning if you mess up, you will pay for the damages because they are user error. Kinda like having a Super bike. They are the fastest state of the art machines on the planet. If you happen to crash that super bike....well it's your fault. Operator error. Same with the 8. To tell you the truth I still check resistance a lot on my Hercules line. When I receive my 8, my plan is to check resistance on my iris v1 and then transfer the hercules to my 8. I am sure many will check the resistance of the hercules before attaching it to the 8. Simply to avoid mishap. If you are new to vapes and not comfortable with the mechanics of it, the Persei is hard to beat. The 8 is for the hardcore enthusiast. As for iris compabality with 8 barell. I guess we won't know until we get our hands on them. The 8 is all stainless.

When the rod of my Herc gets crusty I like to take it out of the Herc (you might have to push it up from the bottom and pull it out of the top if it is really crusty). Then I grab the rod with a pair of forceps (or pliers) and hit it with my torch. Pretty quickly it glows and all the crust burns away. I know some people do the same thing inside the Herc by removing the coils and dry-firing the rod.
